  • Millions of people around the would celebrate Christmas every year on December 25. Christians and non-Christians alike fully embrace the holiday season, observing many of its traditions, such as Christmas trees, mistletoe, Santa Claus, and of course gift giving. Does the Bible offer any insight into whether or not Christians should celebrate this holiday?

To me, celebrating Christmas while neglecting Yahweh’s holy days is no different than the Pharisees putting their own doctrines and traditions of men above Torah

There are times in my life when I get so upset by the pervasive and prevalent evil of this world that I want to rain down fire from heaven like James and John wanted to. Then I remember that Yeshua rebuked them for that. Your way of approaching topics like this, coupled with motives like the one at 13:54 are a wonderful reminder as to why Yeshua rebuked them. Besides, the very fire I would like to rain down from heaven might very well consume me along with everything that I’m so enraged by. I’ll leave the pronouncement of judgement and the sentencing to Yeshua and try to stay focused on what he’s asked us to do. Once again, brother David, well done. Shabbat Shalom!!!

Me also. Not comfortable participating in a secular way. The more I learn about Holy Days the more I want to observe the Lord's days as instituted by Him. Desire to be connected to honoring God's true Holy Days. Mixing of cultural holidays with birth of Yeshua taints the holiness of this event. Truth of God remain Supreme. Hard to know how to participate as most people do.

SATURNALIA is definitely Pagan. Those who celebrated it wanted the world to celebrate it. So they repeatedly petitioned the Catholic/Christian Church to adopt the celebration. After being rejected for many years, the church came to an agreement with the Pagan citizens. Thus, CHRIST MASS was born.

I have a really hard time when people use Hislop's works because I know they aren't accurate and have already been sufficiently discredited. Although a phatne (Gr) is defined as a feeding trough, it is also connected in Hebrew to a sukkah (Genesis 33:17). When we consider that God came to tabernacle among us, it is fitting that He should have preordained that the moed of Sukkot occur on the first week of Messiah Yeshua's life.

Personally, I find a true connection with God on HIS appointed times than I ever experienced in the past celebrating Christmas and such. I liked what you said about not mimicking the gentiles in their practices and therefore I connected Jeremiah 10 to raising the the Christmas tree, I know Jeremiah is not specifically mentioning a Christmas tree there but I would prefer to not insult my Creator by doing anything possibly connected to the worship of demons. I appreciate your insights, always nice to listen to you. Shalom

Feast of Dedication inspires us to rededicate our temples and have Holy Spirit live comfortably within us. As the Festival of Lights, it reminds us of Yeshua, the LIGHT of the world. AND these times are like what the Maccabees went through as they took back their temple and right to their faith. We're taking back America and our faith is defended.

I absolutely LOVE Christmas and the chance to celebrate Christ's birth. Indeed, i hope that EVERY SHABBAT has that same special excitement and delight as Christmas. From my point of view, Christmas is a time when Christians get to show their love and adoration for the Word become flesh, the miracle of the Holy Incarnation. Fortunately, i'm absolutely not limited to my offer of thanks and celebration back to G-d just because no first-century or 2nd cetury Christian failed to include the Christmas celebration in Holy Scripture. What a strange and limiting view of Holy Scripture you have. I'm convinced there is something magical about Christmas that makes it so special and when i write, "magical" i mean something like that wonderful and awesome magic of Creation that G-d who created us and loves us and calls us HIs Beloved brought about. Happy Christmas is my wish for everyone. We celebrate it for twelve days. Thank G-d we're not confined to the Old Testament as we delight in finding awesome ways to return our thanks to the Creator of the Cosmos for His beloved son, Yeshua.

Thank you for a very thought provoking video. I have often lamented the commercialization of Christmas and that I much prefer Thanksgiving. Nonetheless, I do not favor getting rid of Christmas But I do not think that would be possible barring something spectacular. The Bible does, however, record the birth of Yeshua. I think this point was overlooked. Now one might say there is no direct command to celebrate the birth. This is also true. Despite all the commercialization, however, I think something else should be considered. Namely, that the Lord's work and purpose is considered - not only by Christians, but also by entire nations. There is a time for peace and good will at Christmas time. I also do not think saying that there are other holiday's that celebrate Yeshua is a particularly compelling reason to not celebrate Christmas. People should be free to celebrate the holiday. People should also be aware of those things that are distractions from a holy purpose. At one point Mr. Wilber states we should not tell lies about magical beings such as Santa Claus. If you are an adult it is not a lie because no adult should believe in Santa Claus. If an adult tells a child about Santa Claus then there is a separate discussion. I understand the urge to not mislead a child, however, the explanation is much more difficult. Moreover, I don't believe you can tell a parent that if Santa gives a present to little Johnny then you are a bad parent. You can have a concern the child might be misled, but the fact of the matter is good parenting is much more comprehensive that celebrating Christmas. Rather, a solid foundation would be better than attacking Christmas. Still the video was good and I appreciate the effort to present this information because the topic is unpopular to criticize.

  • @shirosanada3302

Used to defend Christmas hardcore, started seriously declaring it pagan, now I'm somewhere in the middle where you are. You're right: could have pagan origins. Some of it probably does. But if there is that confusion it's best not to do so. Avoid idolatry as much as you can.
and let's look at Christmas from a believers standpoint...it has nothing to do with christ. The emphasis is on putting up evergreens, a fat jolly guy in red, presents, getting drunk and kissing under mistletoe (of which orgies used to be had under them. They're a fertility symbol). Atheists, Muslims and other people celebrate this holiday. It's not exclusive by any stretch of the means. It's worldly. The whole world abides by it. We're not supposed to be like them 🤷‍♀

    • @MB-vi8zp
      @MB-vi8zp Год назад +1

And what if you put the emphasis on Christ as many Christians do?
I've known a number of Christians who do not do presents or Santa. They tell the story of the birth of Christ and have special foods/treats and enjoy time with family. It is a sacred and holy time for them, commemorating how God became a man and dwelt among us. Is that still pagan? Is that idolatry?

I just discovered your teaching channel, and I appreciate your kind, reasoned way of speaking. So far, of the two videos I’ve seen, I had already come to the same conclusions as you have.
One thing I would like to point out about Christmas, Easter and the Easter bunny, and even the tooth fairy, is that we are commanded as followers of the Living God, not to lie! Think about it this way; if I tell my child that Santa Claus is real, the Easter bunny is real, the tooth fairy is real and Yeshua the Messiah is real, and then they find out I lied about the first three, where does that put my child’s level of trust in me when I tell them that Yeshua (who they also cannot see, like the others) died and rose from the grave? We must keep things simple for our children. I told my children when they were little that lots of people like to pretend, but only Yeshua/Jesus was real and that they could trust what I told them.

I did a teaching on this last week and until now I didn’t realize another Torah teacher had this balance. You did a very good job. One thing I want to just point out is you were very fair, however, if we’re going to condemn or say, is it worth doing because Christmas isn’t found in the Bible, or that we already have Moedims accomplishing what Christmas is trying to do, well, then what about celebrating Thanksgiving.? We already have that with Sukkot, Thanksgiving is not found in the Bible. However, I see nothing wrong with Thanksgiving. The same with the birthday. No believer of the MOST HIGH was celebrating a birthday in the Bible, the earliest sources say birthdays came from pagans. However, outside of blowing out candles and making a wish I see nothing wrong with birthdays. So there is a balance and everything and remove the paganism and lies just like with Hanukkah’s 8 day oil miracle that was most likely a complete fabrication , so many have removed it and continue to celebrate. Blessings

I just watched your Hanukkah video and then I found this one. I really don't understand how you have drawn your conclusions to reject Christmas and embrace Hanukkah. KINDLY CLARIFY.
    1. Based on what I understood that you said, teaching children about the myth/lie of santa clause who is supposed to be a super natural being who gives out presents is first, wrong and secondly, may potentially cause them to doubt later in the existence of God. Did I understand correctly?
Yet, having seen problems with that, you go ahead and teach the myth/lie of the Hanukkah oil miracle? Isn't that just as bad or worse, as it is teaching directly that God did something that isn't recorded in the books of Maccabbees as truth? Isn't it essentially lying about God? Isn't that more direct and worse? What about the prayers (that tou encourage us to say, or make up or own) that say that God commanded us to light the Hanukkiah? Where in scripture is that? Is that another lie?
    2. You are correct that there isn't any proof of the Christmas decorations being pagan but in the Hanukkah decorations that you showed, there was a hamsah (sp) isn't that directly pagan? The hand with the eye in it? What about the dreidle spinning game, isn't that essentially gambling? Even with gold coins in tow? How is that less materialistic than Christmas?
What about the Hanukkiah and the fried foods, isn't that directly linked to the Talmudic oil myth/lie which came about centuries later?
Both holidays claim to be celebrating a historical reality.
    1. Hanukkah: The Maccabbeans conquest over syncretism and the Greek pagans with myths/lies thrown in.
    2. Christmas: the birth of Yeshua with myths/lies thrown in.
Thoughts? How does Hanukkah have more justification than Christmas👉 for the Christian who wants to walk in a manner that pleases God?👈
Thanks for your response in advance. 😊

As I stated in the video, people need to decide for themselves and we shouldn't look down on each other when it comes to this issue. My family personally celebrates the biblical festivals instead of Christmas, and we have found much joy in doing that. My kids absolutely love those celebrations. As I said in the video, if someone is uncomfortable celebrating Christmas, that doesn't mean that they have no holidays to celebrate. My recommendation for those people is to give the biblical festivals a try. In our experience, it has not been a burden at all. Blessings!

I only had positive thoughts for Christmas in my youth. It is a family tradition. We sang songs of the birth of Christ Jesus. But is it necessary? Perhaps as a coming together of family and friends to a dinner like that of Thanksgiving, If we focus on the gifts exchange, things we wish for, we will lose sight for the reason for the gifts, the gift of our Savior Jesus Christ. As I have grown over the years, I see Christmas for what it is, a celebration of His birth, even though His birth was most probably during the Festival of the Tabernacles, or Feast of Booths, in the fall. Yes, the Christmas tree was a pagan concept of the yuletide tree and Martin Luther adorned it with lights and the nativity under the tree. It is an attempt to bring pagans over to Christ, but it sends the wrong message. It is like in India, that He is just another god added to the pantheon of gods. Interesting thing is, without the Hanukkah, there would be no baby Jesus, or Christmas, nor throwing out of the moneychangers in the Temple grounds, the crucifixion, resurrection and ascension of the Messiah. And Hanukkah is not a pagan celebration, but rather a celebration of victory over paganism of the Temple worship. Lord Jesus is the Servant Light that keeps on burning, the Holy Fire that trumps over the strange fire of paganism.

@@rayray4192 If it was a pagan holiday it is pagan no matter how much Jesus you plaster onto it. We are supposed to leave that old life. Anytime the Jews wanted to mix worship of God with worship of others it always vexed God. I don't believe that God would change his mind on that statement.
I'm not saying it is...but my conviction leads me to not celebrate it. I've read enough about religions in the winter time that celebrated their Gods like this. Not to mention quite a few Gods were born on December 25th.
also, that was not a very gracious thing to say to him. People who reject God's torah are said that their prayers are an abomination to him (Proverbs). Yet...I am not condemning you like that. You do not know what you are saying.

  • @homewardboundpilgrims6418
    @homewardboundpilgrims6418 3 года назад +1

You are quite informed, and do a fairly good job of straddling the fence, until you end up admitting that you personally do not celebrate the holiday 'Christmas'. I already pointed out the conception of Dec 25th was of Catholic origin which you slid right past. If you had focused on my original comment, especially the first two (Exodus 12:1-2 & Luke 1:26 and get a Hebrew calendar that aligns with our modern day calendar), on the scriptures presented you would have seen that God established a way for those who seek to determine that Jesus 'was not' born on that date , let alone in that month or even that season. So Jesus is NOT the reason for Christians to celebrate December 25th as the pagans do... The Bible Clearly Tells us to not be as the world, loving anything worldly (1 John 2:15). We are not to mix the customs of the people, the traditions of men, with the worship of Christ (Deuteronomy 17:2-7, 1 Corinthians 10:20-21, Zechariah 13:2, Deuteronomy 12:30, Joshua 23:7, 1 Kings 11:10, 2 Cor 6:15-18, Exodus 23:32). As we are told in Exodus 34:14-16. We are to be as a city set apart (1 Peter 2:9-10). You know ST Nick is from Catholic origin ... and stated that lying to children was bad... and you were right ... liars do not make it into heaven (Revelation 21:8). Also those parent that do teach this custom generally have their children wright out a covetous letter to that fictitious being for worldly items they desire. This is definitely not training up a child in the way the should go. When Jesus died, the original feasts, holy days, Sabbaths, the temple, and sacrifices were ended (because they were for the Jews) and a New testament was to start (Hebrews 9:15-18) created to merge the two people into one (Romans 15:4-13) with a New Covenant to live by. And as previously stated... He commanded only one way of remembrance... (1 Corinthians 11:23-32). and it has nothing to do with joining the world on any day He did not ordain or declare, that we, His priests and siblings so we are not to join the pagans celebrate anything!

If all of this has failed to open your eyes I can only conclude that we have another case of 2 Thessalonians 2:7-11, and have included you on our prayer list. God be with you and may your faith grow stronger and cleared as you grow in grace and knowledge.

I wonder, then, what the Father meant when He said the Sabbaths and such were for all generations forever… It makes no sense to say this then do away with the Sabbaths and feasts, etc…

Sure. If it is about Jesus! Not as a Sabbath or Holy Day, or as a Day Off from the Powers That Be which even the government complies. I recommend all Christians everywhere make a Pinata of Santa next year stuffed with, hmmm. Ummm, let's just say. Wait a minute!

No. They should not. It’s not an option for a biblical believer. Case closed. It is an option for a false believer; it’s endorsed by the counterfeits. Nothing we there.

If you call yourself a Christian and celebrate Christmas do not call yourself a Christian anymore because the Bible calls you a heathen! If you are a true follower of Christ you do the opposite of everything the world does! Satan came as an angel of light to deceive everyone! I rest daily in the spiritual Sabbath of God‘s sovereignty!

Satan sure has had success convincing Christians that the demonic Potus 45 (DJT) is somebody who carries out the teachings and will of the LORD Jesus Christ. Talk about a sign of the End Times!

Man cannot ordain or sanctify a holyday, only God can and He did in the Torah. No one who follows Yeshua should be celebrating any religious holiday that God did not ordain in Torah! Christmas is a manmade religious holiday, along with Easter and even Thanksgiving. If God did not declare it holy, it is not holy!!
