The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is the premier late night talk show on CBS, airing at 11:35pm EST, streaming online via Paramount+, and delivered to the International Space Station on a USB drive taped to a weather balloon. I met Mr. Jackson many decades ago in Atlanta at the Delta Crown Club. He invited me to sit down and talk. I was so starstruck I didn’t know what to say so he asked me what I did (tech in the 1980s). He and I talked for about an our about everything but him. Just chatting . As I had to leave, I asked him to sign the back page of my daily spiral notebook. He wrote “write me a program” and his signature. One of the highlights of my life. I still have that notebook.
That's amazing! I love it when totally amazing stars like him have those nice moments and are self aware enough to even know how to talk to you to put you at ease. Do you have a photo of the autograph? I'd love to see it

I usually don't watch the interviews on Colbert, only the monolog, but cmon!!! Sam Jackson is so freaking amazing! How many roles has he played that brought sheer joy to the lives of how many countless people!!!!!
You should try watching them more. Always interesting!
Also Colbert tends to have a good mix of guests. Always quality guest and the interviews are always wholesome and educational. Like talking at the dinner table!
There are few people that I would watch the interview for, Mr Jackson is one of them.
Just a dynamo of charisma, not many people in Hollywood that I look at and can honestly say 'you earned your place here', but Jackson is quite the talent.
Samuel L Jackson should have won an Oscar for Tropic Thunder....

“When I do off camera for the other actor.” He is really being modest. One of my favorite stories about Sam’s work ethic was on a podcast (or a DVD commentary) where writer/director Shane Black said Sam is such a professional he works late so that the other actor has him to play off of. That’s not always the case. Rod Steiger famously said Brando walked away and used a stand in because he couldn’t be bothered to be on set if he wasn’t on camera.
really admire the dedication of such actors. also remember something like this with charles dance in game of thrones. they let him go home and not be present when young maisie williams act out her parts but he chose to stay so that she has someone to throw back lines with during takes.
that would take passion, dedication, and humility. especially for respected veteran actors like them.
@@jurinaissance Charles Dance is a class act. I remember him defending David Fincher on Alien3 before anybody knew what a disaster that production was. He always plays a great villain but he’s just as good as a warm and compassionate character. Probably closer to his real personality.

Would give my left arm to see this play on Broadway. Was lucky to see it as it developed at the Old Globe in San Diego back in the 80s. It introduced then another outstanding actor to the stage - Charles Dutton - who played Boy Willy. My favorite play of all time. Profound and so moving. Thanks, SLJ, for reviving this most pleasant memory.
I'm praying to the theatre gods there will be a taping to be made available via PBS Great Performances, or a streaming service (a la National Theatre Live) or a viewing at my local art house cinema.

I thought Mr. Washington was not very good at all in the play. He was over-acting and one-note. The rest of the cast, including Mr. Jackson, was much better.
