    People complaining "oh, it looks like Gucci"... poor silly kids. Remember, dear millenials: the world spins around way before the years 2000 and Marc Jacobs predates the "advent" of Allessandro's GuccY. Go see some of his archives, please. Don't be lazy and "Google it", as we say. This collection is Marc Jacobs to the core and it's a pleasure!

    for all the people making gucci references, marc jacobs has designed in this vintage 70s style for decades- in the non-defunct marc by marc jacobs line, in this line, and in the louis vuitton line. my main concern with his work lately isnt that he is copying, it's that he has no cohesive creative vision anymore. there is no longer a sense of 'collection' in his work. it's just a hodge podge of random pieces that we've seen before from the past. is he on drugs again? or just sick of the industry?
    to this day i dont understand the CEO's decision to close the marc by marc line. it brought in the majority of the sales profits and it was the superior line, both in design and manufacturing. it just goes to show business people dont understand anything about creativity and art.

    It may look like a hodge podge, but as with SO many fashion shows, the spectacle is just to get you to watch (an endeavor in which they were successful)...and then the people who are going to purchase garments from these houses are actually going to see that there are some gorgeous pieces in there. The slinky ankle grazing skirts, some of those trenches, the printed blazers and trousers, the plaid...that crazy green hooded bolero. Not everything was successful...when he sent something basic down the runway, it often read pedestrian. But, he skirted the lines between quirky and wearable...which I think encapsulates Marc perfectly.

    • @cheong728
      @cheong728 5 лет назад +4

      But you also run the risk of people not remembering what they saw, because every outfit was disconnected stylistically from the one before and after. I had a vague recollection of jump suits, long floral dresses, knitted mini dresses, gigantic ruffled tops and a truly horrendous half denim jeans with a missing leg or something. Not a good look if the audience has to leave with their heads reeling in shock. But if it tempts you to look at them on the rack then, OK, but please leave the denim jeans horror alone.

    Just came back from Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 2008. Heath Ledger was there, Tim Blank purred the word "bouleversement" to describe the collection, the super infamous long wait for the start of the show, the spectacle of everything being done in reverse, the sparkling surrealistic take on the economic downturn: fantastic! Where is that Marc Jacob?
