After the cruise and the Haute Couture, and now this show just gave me the impression of her style: Simple but never minimalism; casual but always dressed up.
Let's talk about Gabrielle Chanel's heritage codes:
Tweed, round-neck jackets with pockets, costume jewelry, chain belts, stripes, little black dress, feathers.
All of these codes were reinterpreted by Karl in his way: tweeds woven with shinny threads, jackets with all kinds of beautiful trims, huge necklaces with huge cuffs, dresses that usually have embroideries of sequins or flowers, all-feather skirts, etc.
And now Virginie's still using these codes but not putting them together in one single look, if the tweed is already colorful the trim must be plain; if the jacket has too much sequin the iconic necklace disappears, a huge statement chain belt to lighten up a one tone dress, ruffled dress with feathers matched with a simple top with no sequins and no jewelry.
She also played a lot with the white&black contrast which was Karl's good game as well. And I love how she abandoned Karl's oversize silhouette of the past couple of years, this collection is so feminine and so lady chic.
Oh and btw, not a fan of that bag with the big thick leather strap, that's not chic at all...
Good point. I also like to see how she interprets the house and vision of Chanel. Although I won't agree with you about what you said that she dropped the big silhouette. Every collection is different, it's based on numerous things, so when Karl did it there were reasons for it and maybe he added his personal understanding to it, it was still beautiful. Now a collection has a different time, hence more classic silhouette that Virginie did. Not necessarily because she decided to drop one thing or another. It's just a different collection

This just looks like a pre collection... which are usually very commercial and less fashion forward.. the ready to wear collections are supposed to be trend setting and innovative... the shoes are terrible Karl always had a eccentric and statement making shoe on the runway... he was always making a statement on the zeitgeist and taking pop culture and turning it into a fashion design...
Virgine is so cute she really hates being up there....She seems like a behind the scenes woman....Her expression was of nervousness and you can sense she is not pretentious or nothing like that. A real French lady.
Virgine is who I picture wearing a lot of these outfits now. You're right, she seems like a worker bee instead of a showman and it's a very nice quality. I hope she does interviews, I would love to read what she thinks.

You can’t blame her. Karl was bigger than life. It’s a hard position to fill, and there are a lot of expectations and $$$$$... riding on these collections. I think 🤔 she has done a teller job so far.🤩👍👏👏👏

This collection makes me so happy, like a child! The soundtrack, the looks, the models, the beauty, the set, EVERYTHING!
Of course, everything screams ''ASIAN MARKET'' but at least Virginie keep the DNA of the brand untouched! Youthful, playful, irreverent but still Chanel! Take notes Maria Grazia.

i think chanel is one of the few brands to stick with their style since it's founding. im so happy that virginie is able to keep karl's visions and design concepts with these new collections. simple, but not minimalist french feminity. brava to her, i can't wait to see the upcoming collections

Other channels would post the video up to 24/48 hours after the show ended if we are that lucky and (i know you are a Chanel lover as well and i really enjoy your old Chanel show videos!) but i think their pr team has stepped up!!!! It has not been 24 hours yet but we are getting the video from the official Chanel team? I mean!
@@faredsharudden a decade ago we had to wait a day for the trailer and the show would not be posted until around midnight of that week's Thursday Paris time!
hector roberto contreras miranda if we were lucky! 10 years ago i had to wait for at least a whole day if not even two days for shows to be up on youtube! I remember when it was Dior Fall 2009, i waited for two whole days for the videos to be on youtube! Ah those old channels were the best back in the day! I would put those videos on speaker and watch those shows and pretending i was Jessica Stam on the runway i miss old shows so bad
I'm so happy the legacy in the design is still there. I'm sure Coco and Karl is very happy too, good job Virginie.
The best I’ve seen so far since her tenure - signals a new beginnings for spring and for the house. The silhouettes are all fresh! Virginie up the ante for French fashion again. So chic and very Parisian. Love it. 😍😍😍
This collection is everything. I can see a young lady in 20s to 50s (even 60s) will wear this. Virginie has her own style which is modern and simple but still high fashion. In a good way she is different from Karl. Both have their own characteristics but still manage to show that Chanel is still relevant for modern fashion. Bravo Virginie 👌👌👌👌

Virginia did such a fantastic job on this collection! I adore how in tune it is with contemporary fashion as well as the all time classic Chanel. The tweed, double breasted buttons, peplums, tiers. To die for! I also love how gorgeous the models are and how their natural beauty is simply enhanced. Wonderful collection!💕
Karl knew what he was doing when he made her his heir to the house. Even till the end the man was a calculating genius....Can you imagine some overrated designer getting picked for Chanel. I almost died and fell on the floor when Marc Jacobs was asking to be given a shot....The house is fine by keeping it in "THE FAMILY" Virginie is perfect.......

Love the collection - very wearable. Loved that some of the models were a more curvy and realistic shape than has been seen at Chanel previously and more diverse in age. In love with the skyline Chanel print - really striking and beautiful.
Every piece chic, very Chanel. I cried a little cause I loved the show and thought of Karl. Chanel will endure. Vive CHANEL!

I would venture to say Virginie Viard is one of the top ten designers on the planet today... Every single outfit was sheer perfection... True to the Chanel look and true to what sophisticated women want to wear... Karl left the House of Chanel in good hands... I really loved every single outfit and felt the shoes and accessories fit very well with each.
I feel like the past season is a great homage to Karl, but this time Virginie showed us what she can do for Chanel and where it’s headed in the future! 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼

There were so many outfits I would love to cover, the music suited the fashion theme pretty well. I saw a lot of 1970s-1990s fashion inspired pieces in there.
The way the flower 🌸 pieces were used gave me a pleasant flashback.

Karl's legacy is still there, a modern reworked youthful take on old Chanel was his thing, also the total look; head to toe the same pattern on the bag even. And of course the classic flap is from Karl's time at Chanel, the 2.55 bag is Coco's.
