My wife and I relocated to Morelia almost three years ago. She's a Mexican citizen and I'm from Reno, Nevada.
It's been a wonderful, and beautiful experience. We rent a large, beautiful house in a very nice neighborhood, and can easily live on my Social Security income. The culture, architecture, the lack of stress, the people, the low cost of living, and of course, the food are all reasons to be here. The best move I've ever made!
VIVA MEXICO 🇲🇽
So glad you are enjoying it. Morelia is still one of our favorite cities. We loved the food, architecture, low cost of living, and the climate!
I'm checking out Oaxaca and spending some time on the coast. When I eventually head back up to Mexico City to fly back to the States I'm checking out Morelia and Guanajuato. Got permanent residency and looking for a place to live for my first year. I am learning Spanish and have very limited capacity at this point. Thoughts re: Morelia? Thanks!
I'm so glad you made this video. So glad you mention the prices in both dollars and pesos. Morelia looks amazing. I intend to make an exploratory visit.
Glad you found it helpful! Morelia is still one of our favorite cities in Mexico
Thank you so much for sharing your trip! You did an amazing job of showing Morelia and the video was top quality. The Airbnb looked really great for $70 a day! ✌🏼💜
Thanks! So glad you enjoyed it. Morelia remains one of our favorite cities.
Morelia is on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing!
If you decide to come we definitely recommend coming in October - December because the weather is great and there are tons of festivals, decorations, and celebrations.
Great video, Morelia is awesome!
Thanks! It is one of our favorite cities.
I have been looking at Mexico vids for several months now and this is the best one yet:) Thank U! Looking forward to more. How about Cuernavaca??:)
We are actually in Cuernavaca now. It's fine but not one of our favorites.
We vacationed in morelia and the corundas were sold in the market, cheap. also, you could get the white cream or red sauce. I ate mine plain. This was in the late 80s.
Must be cool to see how much has changed since then!
@GeorgiaandDavid it definitely changed a lot. Like they had street vendors selling their products and services, calling them out as they walked thru the streets. I miss the uniqueness of that time. I haven't been back since the 90s. But I see the changes thru the RUclips.
I'm planning to go to Mexico with my dog. Just she and I:) so this was helpful.
Glad you enjoyed it.
I didn't know it was possible to spend that much money in Morelia.
Start by finding an Airbnb whole house rental within 2km of the zocalo that has parking for a Jeep, green space for a dog, as well as a king or queen sized bed. Then all you have to do is eat out at a sit down restaurant almost every day. Obviously it can be done cheaper but we enjoy this lifestyle.
The International Film Festival in Morelia is the biggest in the country, it’s an awesome festival and you may get to meet very famous directors and actors.
We loved our time in Morelia and all of the festivals made it even better.
I love Morelia, I plan in the future live there
We loved it definitely one of our top cities/towns!
@GeorgiaandDavid For sure! I studied the university there, I lived in Morelia for 6 years, and I can still remember walking through the streets at night in downtown Morelia 😁
Hi! What song is playing when you showed the cathedral at 1:07?! It’s beautiful 🥰
It is Misty View by Alan A Craig. Thanks for watching :)
Did you visit the Monarch butterfly biosphere reserve during your stay in Michoacan state? Thank you for sharing your traveling experiences in Mexico. Stay safe and happy.
Unfortunately the reserves hadn't opened yet when we moved on. I hope to come back in two years to visit them. Thanks!
Hello...I have been following your suggestions...so far and consider returning to is Morelia..per your video I came to visit..this city..
As right now I am in Saylulita..near Puerto Vallarta..I am little disappointed it's very conjected..thinking it maybe more quiet..
You maybe far to many restaurants to choose from...Nice beach....Consider Puebla it appeared more .Ike Morelia..unsure if similar to Morelia
We liked Morelia more than Puebla overall. However we did enjoy the food more in Puebla.
I love your goal❤🐶
Unfortunately Meep passed away in April so now our goal is 100 pueblos magicos.
@@GeorgiaandDavid ooohhh...I'm so sorry 😔 perhaps when you're ready you can get an awesome Mexican doggo ❤️
@@danag812 we are definitely planning on adopting in the future. It will take a while for our hearts to heal after spending 15.5 years with Meep. Thanks ❤️
Hi guys ! I’m interested in Morelia as a retirement local. I watched another RUclips video that stated that at times the smell was awful . Did you guys notice any bad smells like maybe a paper mill near by or something? Thank you 😊
No we never noticed any bad smells in Morelia, we have in other cities.
Were you able to see many stars at night in Morelia?
There weren't a ton. It is a city so there is a lot of light pollution. We saw the most in Sayulita and Puerto Escondido.
Guys!! I loved your video and information but My God you guys spent a ton of money. I know your not budget travelers but that’s what interests me about traveling abroad. Sorry. Great video though.
We totally understand. You can easily spend half what we do and have an amazing time. We basically do whatever we want and we always book an Airbnb within walking distance to Centro, with off street parking, and a private garden for our dog.
I’m a budget traveler! 😅🧳
One of the great things about Mexico is that it has options at many price points. Street tacos and restaurants in the mercados can be excellent, churches are free, and many museums are low to no cost!
