Awesome summary of the challenges facing Arab feminists, and finally shows how the thought that Arab feminism is an oxymoron is false on so many levels. Thank you!
Arab feminism is like a beautifully woven tapestry-full of vibrant colors and patterns, each thread telling a unique story, yet all beautifully interconnected. Just like in any good plot twist, it’s about time we flipped the narrative and let these voices shine brighter than a desert sun!
In many parts of the Arab world, women have historically faced significant barriers in both personal and professional realms. Arab feminism seeks to uplift these voices and empower women to reach their full potential, which often involves challenging traditional gender roles and advocating for equal rights.
"When are more feminists in the United States going to start defining war as violence against women?" This talk has many nuanced perspectives that are terribly needed in today's discourse on feminism and the Arab world.
Characteristically articulate!!! Naber distills her work that shows Arab feminism is a critique of the weave between Western and Arab patriarchy and its complicity with white supremicist racism, Islamophobia, and imperialism! Thank you, Nadine!
Necessary and overdue discussion of the pressing issues and chronic prejudices facing Arab and Muslim women in the US today. Refreshingly clear framing, fit for community and classroom audiences alike. Thank you for this wonderful addition to my syllabus, Nadine!
Pan-Arab* She hasn’t clarified it but the conflated use of Arab to mean someone from the MENA region without nuance is Pan-Arab. In fact Arab says as much about a person as white

Sounds like there are feminists who either don’t understand or disagree with Judith Butler 😉
