I just found this video after trying to decide how to catch up on the years of photos I have not scrapbooked. I have definitely realized I do not need 12 pictures of a child opening birthday presents each year! I look forward to finding your other videos in this series and thank you for sharing.
I stopped scrapbooking in 2018 because of life’s dramas. Now I am ready to begin again and I was feeling intimidated. This video helps me a lot. Thank you.
I recently had a similar way of thinking as I have about 50 albums as well and my chronological albums have stalled at 2011! So now I am working on Theme albums which feature 1 or 2 page layouts for each year - so far I have an album for every major Holiday, a beach album since we go every year and also fun tradition albums such as pumpkin patch/carving, pumpkin pie making, cutting down the Christmas tree and of course single albums of special vacations, etc. I am starting to do Happy Albums for my chronological. I was seriously considering switching to digital but I love traditional scrapbooking and I think this will now work well for me. Thank you for your inspiring videos.
Great system Lisa! Love the idea of theme albums with favorite memories! I love that cute happy album size...I’m partnering with CM to do a fun project with one very soon❤️thanks for the comment!
Lauren, I scrapbooked years ago when my kids were little and it was so popular. As stores closed, my kids got more involved in activities and my crafting time dwindled to nothing. So scrapbooking has been set aside but I've been thinking about it a lot in the last year. Because I'm so behind, I'm very interested in your new system. I'm excited to hear about POP and just called a friend to join in with me! For me not to be frustrated or overwhelmed, concentrating on theme albums and library of memories really makes sense. I need to actually print my photos and just pick a date to jump back in. As much as my family has enjoyed their albums, whatever I get to work on will be a treasure to them later on. I'm so happy I found you and enjoy your videos!
Thank you Kelly, really appreciate the comment! I completely understand, and feel similarly, which let me down this path! I really needed to come up with a solution so I did not feel frustrated too! Yes let’s print those photos and jump back in!!!👍🏻
Even though I was a CM consultant in the 90s I only finished 2-3 albums for baby gifts. I have my whole life to do (68 years) as well as my married life of 33 years. Luckily all my photis are in chronological order with motes on the envelopes from the photo places. I have often thought of doing 1 page per year albums.
I’m in! I started with Creative Memories and then scrapbooking boomed, and soon there was so much stuff to choose from that i spent more time, and money, shopping than scrapping. It became more about the embellishments than the photos and less pages got done and the photos piled up and now I’m overwhelmed at how behind I am! So I’m going to rethink and have a go at your suggestions and I look forward to more videos from you!😊🥰
This video is really helpful. I have lots of photos but not every one is album-worthy. I am making an album for my son who is 31 and I have groups of similar photos - helping out over the years (landscaping, baking, painting), smiles, Scouts, and I plan to group those together. With a small home and not much storage space, I really need to consolidate my album efforts and finished products. This lets me know I'm not alone in thinking along these lines. Thank you!
Hi I have been out of the scrapbook world for a long time. I want to make a album for my 3 children that are on their own journeys now. To me it will bring me so much joy and I'm sure later for them. I am having trouble starting this big and awesome project. Your ideas of heritage, library of memories and doing things chronological have inspired me so much. THANK YOU!!! I finally found someone that I have something in common with. And I realize that I'm not alone. Cheers!
Hi Lauren,! I just found your videos and I'm so happy I did. I remember in my 20's and 30's not wanting to scrapbook because it sounded like work I was not willing to put the time or effort into. Now in my 40's I find that this is sounding pretty cool and a neat additional craft that I want to add to my hobbies. I have no kids but I have plenty of pictures that I am excited about doing albums of (also redo some old albums from the 1980s that are messy and the pages are coming apart). Just thinking about this new craft is making me very excited and I can't wait to learn more and dig in. Thank you!!
Hi Lauren, I just began scrapbooking a year and a half ago when my first grandbaby was born. I love it!! I am looking forward to your POPs series because I have been wondering about what direction to go in the future. I think your ideas are wonderful and not as stressful considering ALL the photos I have and he is only 2 years old!! I love your style of scrapbooking and look forward to the series. Thank you!
Very interesting. I have been scrapbooking for over 21 years and started after a CM party. I am at age now of not only empty nester, but 1st time grandparent of twin boys. I have done so many albums, but chronological family, heritage, and grandchildren will continue now. We have two sons (32 and 29) and they have their school, scouting, sports, and Eagle albums. If I had to do over is great question. All I know for sure is that I can't live long enough to scrapbook all my pictures! LOL So, planning future direction is important. With all my crafts, scrapbooking is my favorite.
My favorite too!! How fun you can continue with grandchildren. And congrats on the beautiful achievement of all the albums you have made! That is wonderful!!
Hello! I discovered you this morning "by accident" and was so intrigued by your title as this is something I've been thinking of more and more lately. I've been a scrapbooker since 1995 when as a teacher one of my mother's gifted me with a Creative Memories album of our school year. As a journaler, a stationary lover and one who loved taking photos, it was a match made in heaven. Here I am 25 years later and a bit burned out. Part of my struggle is that I live overseas and access to products is a lot more complicated and expensive. My albums are chronological, but I only loosely scrapbook chronologically. I transitioned to "Big Moment" scrapbooking a few years ago and that has helped some. I then discovered traveler's notebooks a couple of years ago, which has also helped to a degree because that freed me to scrapbook other misc. events that I still wanted to document, but didn't necessarily want to make a whole scrapbook page about. Then I also discovered 6x8 albums, which I've embarked on using for my travels. I'm in love with that system. However, I'm finding that all of that is taking so much time, and I never find time to scrapbook any of my 12x12's anymore. I was starting to think about giving in the towel on them all together. When I saw your video, I was intrigued enough to watch and consider maybe taking another look into my process. I'm going to watch your process and consider my situation in light of what I learn here from you. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing Wendy! That is quite a journey, but the fabulous part is you have documented your story! Hope something in the pop series inspires you😉
Would love to follow along with this POP. Four power sort boxes is not that many. Overwhelmed feeling is my biggest block to progress and everyone else’s photos always look better and more interesting than mine. Insecurities surface again!
If I could start over......... wow I would start sooner and simpler. When I look at my pages and I look at other folks pages that I'm drawn to it is simplicity. I love pages that focus on the photos- nice big, bright full photos. I think that's why I am so drawn to your site Lauren. I would also focus more on just the tools that would allow me to achieve these kinds of pages. I have way too much stuff and I realize that too much stuff makes me anxious and that hinders my creativity at times. Thanks for this video it's good to reflect. I look forward to seeing your journey.
Hi Lauren, I'm SO glad I discovered your videos! Like you, I have 4 kids and my scrapbooks were in chronological order for years and years. After going through a divorce I put scrapbooking aside for the last 5 years and seeing your videos helped spark my love for creating all over again! I even wrote notes as you were talking so I could put all your suggestions to use! This is such a great jump start to catching up as well as beginning a new way to scrap! Thank you so much!
I just came across you today in my suggested videos sidebar. Your title to this video drew me right in... We have about the same story and the same amount of scrapbooking years behind us. I have subscribed to your channel within the fist few minutes of watching. You have me hooked and on the edge of my seat, as I need your guidance in getting a grasp of what to do with my scrapbooks now that I have neglected them for so long as I have returned to full-time work over the past 15 years. With that comes no large amount of time to dedicate just to my photos and memorabilia. Staying tuned in for what is to come in this series...
Similar trajectory for me. I am older than you, so now ending the "more time" phase as my grandchildren are rapidly expanding my family, my library of photos, and my reasons to scrapbook, while reducing my time again. I too, am out of space. Your album tracker helped me quantify the amount of effort it will take for me to add those finishing touches and final layouts to almost half of my albums so that I can pass them along to my adult children (finally)! So that is one of my priority goals for this year. Working through my digital photos to tag, purge, print and archive them is another goal for the next 2 years. I have already arrived at the LOM idea and Big Moments idea in the past few years, but your trackers will really help me stay on track, know where to find photos not yet printed (or printed but not obvious), and get back into page production mode rather than page planning mode. Thank you for all your thoughtful sharing. I LOVE my albums and the stories and memories they captured. These are part of my legacy and very important to me.
I have planned to do albums for my kids an album each. Then my husband passed away & I fell into a huge depression & thought Creative Memories as an advisor but I was just really buying/stocking up product and not able to scrapbook for another 20 years. So my pictures are semi-organized except when my shelf broke & scattered many of them all over the floor, then there was water damage that happened when we (my youngest daughter & I made y final move... In we did get hers started but I need a new plan, I’m overwhelmed & feeling a sense of urgency at the age of 65 & now retired. Love your video & I definitely want to keep up with this series! God bless you; this seems like just what I’m needing, now if I can just hold my feet to the fire.
I love this, Laura! I’ve been doing something similar, I started out chronological & got overwhelmed then I transitioned to the LOM way of organizing & it seemed to relieve the pressure of “keeping up”. Now instead it f a backlog I now have lots of opportunities for story telling. Looking forward to seeing your tips & tricks. Really enjoying your channel!
Years ago I had wanted to scrapbook but always felt like I couldn't make the perfect one. Recently I discovered junk journals and have found I am quite good at it. It doesn't have the pressure(my opinion).
Nettie Letkeman and CraftSomeJoy, I just found this channel-the title grabbed my attention and I subscribed after watching. Great video, ideas, and interested in the disc tracking pages and processes. I’ve also been following junk journaling for a year and love it. I kind of memory keep in my planner and have only made one junk journal so far. It is a repository of ideas and technique examples. So much fun.
I just found you and am sooo happy! I am just getting back into my scrapbooking and paper crafts after a 12+ year hiatus and have had the same dilemma with regards to my approach “this time” to scrapbooking system. When I stopped scrapbooking, I gave away most of my supplies and tools so I am slowly accumulating them again but have found that there is so much choice I kind of get paralyzed with what I want to bring into my space. I am also at a premium for space. We live in a very small house and I have a limited amount of real estate that I can devote to my crafting/office area so I need to be meticulous implement a very efficient organization system. Me finding your channel and videos sees to be a sign from the Universe that I am on the right path and that this is the right time. Thank you for sharing this and I will definitely watching your POP videos!!!
Am definitely interested in your POP series. I started scrapbooking over 20 years ago and then life got in the way. Have returned to the craft recently and have been overwhelmed with all there is to do. The library of memories is new to me and appears to be an approach that would help me. Most of what I have completed in the past has been themed books. I have mountains of heritage photos I am working to get digitized currently. So much to do and so little time! Enthused and appreciative of your channel. Thanks for sharing.
I'm very interested in your POP series. I look forward to learning some things and avoiding the guilt feeling that comes from not getting pictures scrapped.
This is a fantastic system, my main goal at home this year is to declutter & organize my space while processing & backing up all of my photo/memorabilia items.
Thank you I have stopped scrapbooking for a few years simply because I was feeling helpless to catch up… so behind for 10 years but have so many photos. so now I am inspired to try your methods like big moments and Library of memories. It’s very helpful. Thank you.
I love the style of the album pages you showed here. You are very talented. I am interested in learning more from you. Also, I didn’t realize Creative Memories was still around. New subscriber here.
I am so happy to have found you. I started Scrapbooking with Creative Memories in 1992, still scrapbook, but not consistently. My boys are 29 and 32 and I;m making them a final album birth to present, then I want to take off in a new direction. Your video is timely for me. Thank you!
Wow, you are incredibly organized and a deep planner and thinker. Those are compliments, and I’ve often wished I was a planner, but I couldn’t scrapbook that way. It would take all the joy away. I scrap when the mood hits. I grab pictures, papers and supplies and scrap till I’m tired or bored. The concept of being behind does not enter my mind. If it did I probably would quit because it wouldn’t be fun anymore. Of course looking back, this is the way I’ve always been. Never did note cards outlines for reports. Pulled my masters research paper from the printer 3 hours before the deadline. So why do I even entertain the idea that I could be more purposeful and goal oriented when it comes to scrapbooking? Nope, ain’t gonna happen. I do enjoy watching your videos and I love scrapping.
Hi Debbie, I get it. And that is one reason I am transitioning to library of memories. I love looking at all those little folders of pages waiting to happen, and then just grabbing what I want to work on. It is very satisfying 😃
Interesting question! I started with the 12 x 12 postbound album. Making 12 x 12 layouts seemed more about the paper and embellishments than the photos. I found myself avoiding getting pictures into albums. At that time everything seemed to be chronological. Then I tried pocket pages to try and increase efficiency. It felt very artificial to me. I have finally settled on making mini albums and folios. I prefer theme albums or event albums. For big events, I make a mini album. For small events, I make a folio. I make pages for the pictures instead of the other way around. I still get to play with pretty paper and prefer the end result. This isn’t for everyone, but I enjoy the creativity and the joy that gifting others brings them.
I have never scrap booked before but I do have a small trunk full of pictures from my parents wedding to my grandchildren and now that I am not able to work I thought that I would start scrapbook booking now that I’m basically alone during the day BUT when I opened my chest I was overwhelmed and just looked at at the photos. Well then I started watching RUclips and all these beautiful sets, ephemera, Cricut, watercolors, stamping and so much more that again I felt overwhelmed. I am now stuck because with one income and bills to to there is absolutely no way that I could even begin to do what I have always wanted to do with all of my pictures so I decided to at least watch all the beautiful and different ideas and projects that all of you wonderful crafters do on RUclips...so yes I would love to watch your new POP ideas com to life.
I started scrapbooking back in late 90s. When my kids were small, I joined friends twice a month; at church and clubhouse. I stopped for many years while raising my family. I have an album for each holiday and bring them out about a month before it so we can all enjoy. I also have albums for all 4 kids, now starting them for each grand since my daughters keep digital photos only so far. Over the years to organize, I used plastic page covers labeled by subject, but they are too flimsy to stand up straight for access. I am now switching over to plastic letter size envelopes with a button flap that are sturdy enough to stand up in a bin or file cabinet drawer. I am using color coded labels by subject or person on upper edge so I can easily see them standing up. I have always used Creative Memories albums. My pages are simple. I use mostly colored paper behind photos and few stickers. I do use Creative Memories oval and circle cutting system for many of my photos to keep the pages interesting and fun. I noticed most of your photos you have shown are just straight photos, uncut or cropped. Maybe consider this going forward. Thanks for your great ideas.
I've been scrapbooking over 20 years. I started with chronological; did some vacation albums; did many heritage albums (genealogy too!) and then I had grandkids! Most of my scrapbooking now is the grandkids' albums of pics of when we're together (they live in another state) and more heritage. I'm intrigued with the Library of Moments idea and will definitely look into that. I'm interested in following your #progressonprojects too! I used to be a CM consultant, so I'm familiar with the products too. I realize that my kids (2 boys) are not necessarily into keeping my scrapbooks, but they will probably digitize them and that's okay. I'm having fun with paper!
Lorna, that is awesome! Yes have fun with what brings you joy! You never know when or how your albums will be appreciated. I know that I feel better knowing that a part of my history will be there for others❤️
I am interested to see what you have to offer and learn from you. I have been scrapbooking since I was a kid in the 70s. Long before it became popular so my books go back to the days when we cut everything up - ugh! I fortunately organized everything for my son growing up and made beautiful book throughout his childhood but I’ve always neglected my life. One unique thing I have to add, I am also the family genealogist so when people pass, I have inherited a lot of stuff so I am overwhelmed. I am excited to follow your journey to get new tips and tricks to hopefully get myself back on track before the grandchild start coming.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of your POP series! The whole Library of Memories idea kind of makes my brain hurt - I've been a chronological scrapper for 22 years. The though of doing it any other way freaks me out just a little. :D I think seeing it in action will help with that!
I would love to join you on this scrapbooking system. I am so far behind and so overwhelmed. I have all my film photographs printed and ready to scrapbook. I also have my memorabilia pretty much sorted and organized. But since we have gone to a digital camera I have SOOOOOOOO many photos - just because I can take endless photos I seem to take so many. I have been scrapbooking for about 25 years as well, and sadly do not have 50 albums made. I love how you are prioritizing which albums to be made. I too felt that I needed to scrapbook every moment, and use every photo. I have a 30 day RV trip that we took with our kids and we had both film and digital cameras and I cannot even remember how many photos (over a 1,000) that we took. I do not want to have literally volumes of albums that no one will look at.
Love your approach. I had tried for years to scrapbook and could never find my groove until Library of Memories came along. I had always thought you had to scrap chronologically but it just didn’t work for me. Even then, I seemed to just collect the supplies and never really did finish many books. Then digital scrapbooking came along and I was hooked. I’ve scanned all of my pictures to my computer and that’s how I scrapbook now. I print my finished pages and I use a combination of themed albums and LOM. Just wish they had this 30 years ago.
Hi Lauren, I just found your POP Series and bought the download in colour. I’m so excited to go through all you wonderful videos and suggestions. I struggle with my photos and just make picture-less layouts which does not make me happy. I can’t wait to learn and fill out my new POP planner. Thank you so much for offering this awesome series. Big hugs from Canada.
New subscriber here. I'm so glad I've found your channel! I was a CM consultant for 10 years and after several life changes, 15 years have gone by since I've scrapbooked. I'm starting completely over, with creating a craft room. I know I don't want to continue with the mega albums for family and each of my kids plus school, travel, and specialty albums I was focused on. I need to streamline them. I'm looking forward to watching your videos! ~ Caren
i love your organizational ideas. I'm setting up my POP planner now. This is definitely what I needed to track my album projects more completely and systematically. Over the last two years, I kept finding myself making yet another list of unfinished projects and "to-do" projects and then trying to collate them into a semblance of order. This Progress on Projects will hopefully do the trick. One comment on the "uniqueness" of the Library of Memores approach. As I listened and watched your explanation in POP 1, I realized that this is exactly what I did for my family photos for the decade of the 90s! I started doing annual chronological albums in 2000 and mostly kept up to ~ 2009. For the photos from the 90s, I created 4 seasonal albums, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter and then organized the photos in those albums into categories, such as "Around the House", Around California (where we lived for over 30+ years), Visitors, and so on, depending largely on the photos that I had taken. It worked wonderfully and I have 4 albums that document the 90s. Now my big 12x12 albums are mostly for our travel. Anyway, I love your ideas and I appreciate that my CM upline, Pam Winn, recommended your videos. I've also reorganized my paper after watching the Paper Storage & Organization video. Thanks again for all your ideas.
So glad to hear your story, Pamela! What a wonderful way to say you have documented the 90’s- yes!!! I do believe we all can find our unique approach, which is wonderful. So glad Pam told you about these videos. She is amazing and her talks helped me get this off the ground!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing. I am starting to scrapbooking. . You gave me lots of ideas to to add same ideas on same page. Never though about that. Thank you so much
Hi Lauren! Great video, as always. It's funny, but I was just thinking about this very topic. I told you I am moving and will have a brand new craft room in about two months. Right now my entire craft room is in boxes in a storage unit. It is so sad! I spend my days thinking about what I will do once I have moved and organized my stuff again. The one big thing I want to do is start scrapbooking again. I made two scrapbooks back in the 90's but haven't done one since then. Watching your videos has made me anxious to do more. I like your three categories of books. Makes perfect sense to me. I can't wait to get my hands on my old photos and print out the new ones on my camera. I will be following your POP! Thanks for being our leader.
I started scrapbooking when my girls were 14 and 17. I met a CM consultant at a senior parent meeting. I signed up with a friend for a workshop to learn to scrapbook and do a senior album. I have thanked my consultant for the advice she gave me. She said not every photo has to be scrapbooked and probably isn’t worthy of scrapbooking. She told me to look at photos carefully and toss ones that were out of focus, had red eye, or were duplicates. She said that I might have 20 pics of my daughter’s first birthday but there might be 2 or 3 worth scrapbooking. She was right! She suggested that I focus on just high school major events and mostly on her senior year for that first album. I did. A year later I met an avid scrapbooker. She did awesome books. I told her that I was working on old photos for both kids and was overwhelmed. She told me that she currently had 21 books for her daughter’s 15 years and she regretted scrapbooking every picture-100s of dance recitals mainly. She told me that she would like her daughter to have an album to take with her to college or to her first apartment, but instead her life was in 20+ albums! She recommended that I should only do major events and holidays. I later went back through albums and did 2 more books for my oldest daughter. That was it. 3 books for 18 years. But they were good photos and significant memories and milestones and vacation photos. I did the same for my younger daughter. 3 albums. I’m now doing books for 3 grandchildren and trying to keep to the plan. It is so hard with grandkids!! And I have more time and money for my hobby now. Finding your video now was great timing for me and a nice reminder.
This is exactly the way I Scrapbook. It was hard for me to do more then the year by year but once I started allowing myself theme books, etc. It was a real relief.
This is what I do but I don't Scrapbook chronological. The journaling let's the reader keep up with the dates. I recently started using your picture file folders. I don't know if I will ever finish sorting photos. I'm in on this POPs journey!!!!
Thank you for your wonderful video and sharing your ideas of scrapbooking. I’ve been wanting to get rolling again as I have so many pictures, and you have lit a fire. Thank you. I have also joined Creative Memories, as I to thought the company disappeared thankfully not. Super excited to get the discounts.
🎉🎉🎉🎉congrats Janette! 🙌🏻 I am soooo happy to welcome you to team “Scrap Some Joy” and look forward to keeping in touch! Lets keep that fire going, and make progress on projects!!!
Thanks again for a great video. I started scrapbooking back in 2005? but I have never finished an album. I should say I haven't done any scrapbooking in the last 10 years. Now that I'm wanting to start again I'm feeling overwhelmed but this video has been very helpful and I shall look forward to letting you know how I go with it all. Thanks again for all that you share with us.
I came across your channel earlier today and was fascinated by your content. I then popped over to your video 'craft room update' and have now subscribed. I have newly come back to crafting and have come to love making albums/scrapbooking so by the looks of it I finally relate to someone who enjoys what I do, so thank you xx
Thank you so much for sharing this ❤ I have just started making scrapbooks for myself. I have made some for my children but I have inherited a bunch of new photos from my mother and mother in law when they passed. But they are all in boxes. So this will be awesome.
I would love to follow your POP videos! I was really excited after watching this video and I’m heading straight to your blog to print out whatever is needed! Thank you so much! 👏🇦🇺
I'm so happy to have found this video! I've been thinking about this very topic as well. I don't have a plan yet, but this sounds very interesting though a bit complicated for me. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Lauren! You have come into my life at the right time. I love Creative Memories and use it exclusively. Do you have a video on deciding how to reduce the amount of photos into an album?
Great video! I can't start over, because I just started my very first scrapbook for my newborn son, but I still loved the tips! I am a new subscriber. My video request for the future is a "scrapbook with me" or 'flip through". I LOVE your style of scrapbooking, and I haven't found any other RUclipsr who scrapbooks like you. It's so clean and crip and actually highlights the photos instead of using one small photo, and tons of stickers and things. Love the videos and looking forward to more!
Chelsea, you made my day! Thank you for your comment❤️ my goal is to share more scrapping for sure! We need to get the word out #yourphotosarethestar !! ✂️👍🏻🙌🏻 And congrats on starting your first album of your son, what a beautiful treasure!
In order to keep up I have been doing the project life system since 2011. I also do mini albums for bigger moments that have a lot of pictures. I need to work on getting my photos on my computer and backed up. And I'd like to start working some more 12x12 layouts into other albums. The library idea would work perfectly. I'll be following you!
I'm glad to have found you. I was a CM consultant back in the beginning. However, I couldn't keep up with their minimum requirements quarter after quarter, chargedcway too much to keep up & had to quit. My understanding is CM was recreated and is much easier to work for i am thinking about going back as a consultant.
Ellen it is so so easy! No minimums and no have to’s so many have come back to the new CM, it really is wonderful. I have a lot more info on my website www.craftsomejoy.com under the join tab! Would love to connect with you!!!
I just found your wonderful videos this weekend and I could not be HAPPIER! I have been a Creative Memories customer for many many years and love all the products. I have only made a few albums during this time but now that I am retired and have more time I really want to get started but did not really know where to start. I would love to learn more and be included in POP. I have many more questions but not regarding POP and was curious as to where I could ask those. Thank You for sharing!
This is great, Lauren. Looking back is a little hard for me. My kids are grown, 29 and 23, and in the last 2 1/2 years have both told me they are transgender. It makes it hard to know what to do scrapbook wise as I have lots of pics to do from when they were young. I have had to rethink things, but my oldest said doing pictures from the past is ok. I am going to do it anyway, but may have to adjust some things. They don’t really want their old names on things, which is sometimes difficult, as their old names are on artwork, etc. Things really do look different sometimes when we look back on them. I am a Creative Memories “consultant “ kind of mostly for me. I appreciate your ideas, and yes, I do think well chronologically, and will do some theme albums also. Hopefully, my kids can appreciate them all one day.
I started breaking my books up...grandchild sports, grandchild, family & friends, vacations, and sisters book(because sisters weekend once a year is how I got started. A sister taught us) I have to do my wedding and my kids when they were little, because I started at an older age 👍...great ideas
Your heritage book intrigues me. Do you plan on doing videos with making that? I really want to make one like that myself while people who know the history are still with me.
What a great video! IF I could truly start over, I'd stick with the basics. More journaling, less "pretty" things. My albums are MASSIVELY chunky! I got VERY bored scrapbooking over time. I felt like I was scrapping the same things over and over. Christmas, Birthdays, Beach, Christmas, Birthdays, Beach, Repeat, Repeat, Repeat 🙄 I LOOOOOOVE making interactive mini albums though, especially a beautiful gatefold. But pictures have NEVER been put into them! They are just meant to be pretty in my room or mainly given away. I also went through a difficult divorce of a 24 year marriage, then found myself remarried 2 years later. My kids are grown and have moved on/away in their adult lives, two of them live 4 hours away, the other an hour away. My "new" husband HATES having his picture taken, so I manage to get 1 a year of us at Christmas. I really dont want to scrap the saaaaaame categories of my kids pictures. Wow, sorry for the term paper I seem to have written to you. Yikes! Thanks for the info! I'm definitely willing to think about it. Thank you for being honest and sharing the info :)
Wow Nancy you have a unique situation! Yes it will take some pondering as to which direction to move forward. One thing I did long ago was simplify my scrapbook style. It’s worth considering 😉
I have 4 boys. My plan/goal has always been to do one album per child per year and an anual family album. Of course life/death/divorce have all slowed down my progress which means that I am way behind. I think I will continue on my path until I have done 18 albums per child. Then I will switch over to just the big moments. Let's face it, after they leave home, you don't have near as many pictures. I really like your idea of theme albums and big moments albums. It is the perfect recipe for preserving memories.
I like your new way to organize. What are the criteria of a Places we Go Book? What is the difference between Places we go and a theme book of vacations? i.e. we retired to Las Vegas, and hike on Mondays and often day-trip to California, Utah, or Arizona. I am juggling with the thought, is it a Road Trip adventure as a book, or a place we go book. Typically not enough for a Vacation book. What are your thoughts?
Great suggestions! I know for myself though, I gotta stick to chronological order. It has kept me disciplined to finish an album and not have dozens of half done albums. For example, I love Halloween but if I only did those pages, as fun as it would be, I would just have Halloween pages and nothing more. I may enjoy the process better but not so much the outcome.
My "If I could start over" plan is that if my home ever burns, (please, God forbid!) I will not waste time and energy trying to replicate my fungeon, but will change to completely digital scrapbooking! If and only if, since I have and love my papers and card stock, tools and accessories; but can see that there is not infinite space for albums! The few pix I had of my children as youngsters have ballooned into thousands of photos of my grandchildren!
I have 2 grown boys and did chronicle as well, I started scrapbooking when my youngest was 2 ugh! Was able to complete their K-12 albums and that's including 4 years of running into those and did my oldest's college album including all 5 years plus all of those years of running as well. Now when it comes to my youngest? He has way more running photos since he was a cross country runner and distance runner, our oldest was a sprinter so less photos LOL! So I have LOTS of college photos of my youngest and lots more meets and I got so burnt out that I have not done his album yet and he graduated in 2015. We have since had a wedding and a granddaughter who is now 2! We've also built a new home and moved and I can't tell you what year I left off on hahahaha! Also we are HUGE Disney fans and would take the kids every year to every other year until they got to high school and became athletes then we had several trips once college started, just hubby and myself and now we've had a couple more trips including this past September with both kids, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, such an awesome trip! and we leave in a month to return with our youngest son and I'm way behind on those albums as well and I take at least 1,000-2,000 photos a trip!!! Yeah, I can't tell you the list of albums I need to do! My list has grown! I also have many medical issues that took me out for several years so I see my list and just have anxiety over it!! I love the idea of a planner and can't wait for you to upload your new pages so I can print them out!!! so I can have that information in one place to plan better. Look forward to seeing what you do and may change the way I scrap so I can get things done!! Thanks for sharing!!
Susan WOW! Congrats for how far you have come and what you have accomplished!🎉 It sounds like you are in this scrap journey which is fantastic! Let’s make some more progress !
Boxes, baskets and tubs of pictures. Those are problems enough. My question to you is that I have a phone and down loaded cd,s with great pictures on them. Now that Sam’s and Walmart (in my area) aren’t doing prints anymore and CVS and Walgreens are high priced, unless you catch their special, how do you get your pictures printed? I have too many papers and embellishments and of course stickers that I love using. Can you help? Suggestions? Thank you. And, I love this POP idea.
Hi Liza, yes I’ll have more on photo organization, and digital organization coming up. Hope it will help. As for printing, my favorite is to print at home. It has made the biggest impact in my work flow and quality of pictures. I have a video called print at home, in case you want to check it out👍🏻
I’ve been looking for an inspirational/motivational video exactly like this!! I’m trying to get back in scrapbooking after 7 years (but I’m behind about 12 years 😭) after some health issues and.. just life got in the way. Thank you!! Can you also do a video on tips tricks for e-storage for all the photos and best ways and/or websites to order/store pictures? Please?
Glad you are here, and along for the journey! We can make a plan and make our way... I will be talking about digital in upcoming episodes, and for printing, my favorite is to print at home (video on my channel) I cannot find an online service that can beat what I do at home and I love the convenience
Hi Lauren! Just found you!!! I was an SU “hobby” demo for 15 years and am now completely overwhelmed with stuff. My original intent was to scrapbook, but somehow I never got started. Now I have 11 grandchildren, (along with my own two children and two step children). I’m currently working on organizing my paper, but also want to do your POP series... How do I get the forms? I don’t do Instagram. Thanks so much!
Thank you.
I’m so glad it helped Donna ❤️
So I’m going to rethink and have a go at your suggestions and I look forward to more videos from you!😊🥰
Yes yes yes! I have been there too, and that is one of the reasons I started my channel! We have options and we can make this happen!
Thank you!
Thank you Pamela! Let’s get that stress out of memory keeping and have a plan and make it fun!!! Coming soon!
LOL
So, planning future direction is important.
Glad to have you Hazel!! Let’s take care of that overwhelm by having a plan! More coming soon!!
I am with you!!! Sooner and simpler, yes! We are going to make this happen 😁👍🏻
Lisa! So glad you found my channel too! It is a lot to consider as you move forward... make sure you check out my POP group and series too!!
Wow! Awesome Kim so glad to have you! I am determined to make this easy and fun for us all! Stay tuned!
Linda I love hearing how you are using this process, and it is good to adapt to whatever phase you are in! Digital is a priority for me too😉
I have planned to do albums for my kids an album each.
You can do this! Yes it’s time- feet to the 🔥- let’s get albums made! More coming soon 😉
Thank you Renee! Glad to hear this is working for you and glad you can join me!✂️
Looking forward to future videos of Progress on Projects!
Thanks Beth! More to come soon😉
Years ago I had wanted to scrapbook but always felt like I couldn't make the perfect one. Recently I discovered junk journals and have found I am quite good at it. It doesn't have the pressure(my opinion).
Nettie that sounds fun!
@@CraftSomeJoy it is a lot of fun it is everything combined a journal, scrapbook and art journal and more.
✨✨✨Yes it’s a wonderful time to celebrate your memories! I think you will find having a plan, and a place to write everything down will help so much❤️
Am definitely interested in your POP series.
Hi Kathryn,
So glad You can join! It can seem overwhelming, but we can do this together! 🙌🏻
I'm very interested in your POP series. I look forward to learning some things and avoiding the guilt feeling that comes from not getting pictures scrapped.
Yes! Let’s kick guilt to the curb and have some fun getting things done! ✂️
This is a fantastic system, my main goal at home this year is to declutter & organize my space while processing & backing up all of my photo/memorabilia items.
Fantastic goal Tammy! Me toooooooo! Let’s do this!😉
Thank you I have stopped scrapbooking for a few years simply because I was feeling helpless to catch up… so behind for 10 years but have so many photos. so now I am inspired to try your methods like big moments and Library of memories. It’s very helpful. Thank you.
No need to feel overwhelmed. I have a 16 year old and an 11 year old but according to my scrapbook albums. I have two babies. Lol
I love the style of the album pages you showed here. You are very talented. I am interested in learning more from you. Also, I didn’t realize Creative Memories was still around. New subscriber here.
Hi Amy, thank you and welcome 🎉 Yes CM is around and still making the quality we know and ❤️. Thanks for the comment!
I am so happy to have found you. I started Scrapbooking with Creative Memories in 1992, still scrapbook, but not consistently. My boys are 29 and 32 and I;m making them a final album birth to present, then I want to take off in a new direction. Your video is timely for me. Thank you!
Thanks Pam! Glad to hear😊
Vesta, that sounds fun! I get it about all the add ons, which is why I have a goal to teach scrapping where #yourphotosarethestar!
Mary, you have had quite a journey too! I love your idea for holiday albums how sweet❤️Thanks for the comment
My brain hurt the first several times too! But now I get it, so I hope I can teach it to all of you, simply and easily!
Brenda! I understand. Completely. Glad you will be joining me on the POP journey. I Am hoping 💡 will go off for everyone in their own way.
Big hugs back- and you can do this!!! Your photos need to be the star of your pages ⭐️
~ Caren
Caren! Thank you so much for this comment, it makes me so happy to have people who “get it” this approach has been such a game changer!!
i love your organizational ideas.
Hi Jeanne, that is such great news! With a brand new craft room I am sure you will enjoy scrapbooking again! 👌🏻✂️
So glad to hear Vicki! At last, a good system!
What a fabulous idea. I am starting over after 15 years of not scrapbooking. This is a grand idea for me
So glad to hear 😉✂️we can do this!
This is what I do but I don't Scrapbook chronological. The journaling let's the reader keep up with the dates. I recently started using your picture file folders. I don't know if I will ever finish sorting photos. I'm in on this POPs journey!!!!
✂️Awesome Patricia! Keep making those folders and we are gonna get stuff done!
Love your ideas!! Yes I would love to join you in POP! Wow, your albums...if only I could have that many finished. I began wi CM years ago. Love it.
Great to hear Lisa! Yes let’s do this✂️!
Ann, so glad to have a kindred scrapper! Glad you have joined my community ❤️
Jenny, love it! The full printables for POP will be available soon!!!❤️
I'm so happy to have found this video! I've been thinking about this very topic as well. I don't have a plan yet, but this sounds very interesting though a bit complicated for me. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Dalia! I am working on my first episode... and trying to keep it simple!!😉🤞🏻
Thank you Lauren! You have come into my life at the right time. I love Creative Memories and use it exclusively. Do you have a video on deciding how to reduce the amount of photos into an album?
Hi Susan, you may be interested in my POP videos. I have a playlist on my channel, but I do talk about how we cannot scrap EVERY photo!
I found you in the middle of this so I am now back to watching the previous videos. Taking notes and catching up!!
This sounds wonderful! I am really interested in giving this a try with my years of unorganized photos. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Great glad you can join Vickie 😄!
I'm in!! 🙋🏻♀️ Thank you for providing so much support and inspiration ❤ I love watching all of your videos and can't wait to see what's next!! 🎉🎉
Thanks Trinia! I am so excited to bring you more!!❤️😉
Sounds great looking forward to sharing your journey
Thanks Jane! More new videos soon!
Thanks Tanya! We all have a different approach and this is entirely up to what you can use! 😁
I would love to join you in your POP series. I love seeing your ideas.
Thanks Linda! POP coming soon😉!
This video is worth a million dollars!!! I have the very same issues. THANK YOU so much for your insight. I will be doing this!!!!!!
Haha Rhonda! I love that response! You will feel like a million dollars when you get your Plan in place!😊❤️
I wish I could see into your scrapbooks. That is impressive!
I’m interested! Love your collection.
Thanks Yvonne... yes, now that would take a while!
Thanks!!
Scrapbooking can get over whelming for me to keep up. So I am looking forward to see how you do it.
Glad to have you Linda, we can do this!!!😉❤️
I just found your wonderful videos this weekend and I could not be HAPPIER!
Wonderful! My POP facebook group is a great resource for asking questions! Request to join and we can help you out there!
All of my scrapbooking 'everything' is in storage but I would like to join you on this journey with what I do have.Looking forward to it!!!
Excellent Andrea! Glad to have you and whatever stash you can get!
I can't wait for your progress on projects series! I am just beginning so this will be SO helpful!!
Brandy, so glad this will help you, and so happy to have you on my team 😁😉🙌🏻
This is just what I need in my scrapbooking life right now! Thanks so much!
You are so very very welcome!! Hope you can join the POP community 😃
I love Library of Memories. Glad you mentioned it.
Excellent! This will be fun!
This will be very helpful I am excited to see how this goes into my organizing.
Thanks Linda! I’m excited to share more!😉
Your heritage book intrigues me. Do you plan on doing videos with making that? I really want to make one like that myself while people who know the history are still with me.
Hi Deidre! I am hoping to film more on that process! I am waiting for another visit from my MIL ❤️
Very excited about this series.
Thanks Nancy! More soon!!
Michelle I am in awe, you go girl! That is awesome! Scrapbooks are a wonderful legacy for your children!
This is brilliant! Can’t wait to see your progress.
Thank you Kati! I’m excited 😁
Thanks for doing this I can’t wait to see how you set everything up😊
Thanks Linda, and you have a lovely stash to get started with ❤️👌🏻😉How exiting!
This is a great Idea!! I was the one who’s middle daughter messed up my pictures 27 years ago. I going to pay attention.
Love it Lucy! We can do this ✂️
Great suggestions!
Nancy, I get it. I am a tried and true paper lover too. Let’s hope those albums grace your shelves for many many years!!👌🏻
I would love to join you in POP.This is genius!
I can't wait to see these ideas
Thanks Lori! POP coming soon!

Awesome... and there is a lot to think about! 😁
So funny I come across your video just now. I'm at that exact point right now and actually have made some printouts just like yours. 😁
❤️So glad to hear I have a comrade thinking the same 😄

You are welcome!❤️
Wow I needed this
I am in !
Great! This will be fun! ✂️
