A new episode of Hermitcraft dropped today!
ruclips.net/video/-xn_yF9dPY0/видео.html
they put more effort to this thing than the actual update
Hey what do we write on the piece of paper? it wont work for me
"Hmm yeah this is a funny April fools update and everything, but what if we added jet engines?"
"You know what poisonous potatoes were real lacking?
_A I R S H I P S_ "
I feel like gnembom just implemented jet engines with no push limit and put them in without asking anybody
@@asj3419 they do have a push limit :(
imagine the next april fools update would be Minecraft: The Pollution Update
@@NiaSwift basically fingees video "i made minecraft dirty"
bro this is bigger than the actual update 😂
*dont read my name* 🌛
I was literally just watching a lazarbeam video lol
That's because it doesn't need extensive playtesting/bugfixing
The reason it can be bigger is because of it causes bugs it doesn't matter
Reminder that April Fools snapshots/upgrades also double as ways for devs to test new features for future serious updates
Remember coal blocks, stained glass, custom dimensions
If you fall into the void of the potato world, it gives you the 'end game' message like if you jump in the portal after beating the dragon. However, it is filled with potato puns and whatnot.
the april fools snapshots are getting crazier and crazier every year haha. this was one of the better ones i think! last years vote update was super awesome too!
All 3 mobs impossible.
A whole realm of spuds as a gag snapshot for April first definitely possible.
my fav was the one block at a time one
I went onto the snapshot just now and can’t find any of these?
@@PlagueDoctorCosplayer you have to turn on experimental features through datapacks when you make a new world
I feel like the potato dimension might just be the Aether but with potatoes, it even has the part where falling into the void sends you into the overworld
I wonder if diner bone was involved.
Yeah and the credits are really cool
I was literally expecting the pig next to me when I spawned into the dimension to sprout wings and fly.
@@jwalster9412kingbdogs definitely was
No it just sends you to your spawn point, but that is pretty similar in most cases.
This feels like Aether but potatofied
The aether's mod creator is now part of the Mojang dev team, so yeah it's 100% taken inspiration from that
The Potaether
Which means they’re likely using Aether mod code, or code developed for something like the Aether mod.
@@NephelangeloIt might also be borrowing from the old "Sky" dimension that was planned back in the day, which was later reworked into the End.
minecraft.wiki/w/Sky_dimension
@@Nephelangelonah it's all using base Minecraft code, you can already get this type of world generation by changing your world type settings
I love how almost every mod type was made fun of
We have the frying pan as a decoration block
New redstone
Compressed blocks
More food
New dimension/mobs/ and a new boss
Grapple hook
New physics??
And green wood.
Lmao perfectly said
grappling hook, moving structures, floating blocks, unique boss, stackable mobs, turrets. these features are so different to what's already in the game that they must have spent ages testing them. there's no way this isn't a trial run for prototypes that are coming down the road
I think some of these will be coming to the base game for datapacks in later versions
We saw this with growing and shrinking potions from the vote update
I lost hope last year for that.
Considering it's in a April fools update, I don't think it needs a lot of testing, because any glitch would be easily excused.
Could be. A few previous April Fools updates did end up getting part of them into permanent content, like Infinity allowing mapmakers to create custom dimensions
This feels like one of those "quirky dimension type" mods from the old days... Also, I'd imagine season 8 Mumbo would have an absolute blast in this dimension.
potato boy finds his home
Potat Mumbo was my first thought
This is basically Atum or Erebus
That's how it feels to me as well, like one of those "Item Dimension" mods you'd see back in the day, though it also has a bit of Aether to it as well given the clouds and floating islands.
I can't believe I played this snapshot, found out about almost NONE of the stuff covered in this video, but found out that falling in pota-toes makes a layer of mashed potatoes and gives a fall-dampening effect, which Xisuma didn't show in this video at all!? It also changed the contents of the bonus chest, which X didn't seem to notice either.
The sticky effect that you get from the mashed potatoes also makes you able to climb up walls
April fools.
Xisuma is not known for comprehensiveness. I mean, he didn’t even realize potone is “potato stone” and called it “pot 1”. Still, the update is humongous and is clearly designed to have secrets.
It's not falling in potatoes that does that. It's using the potato boots.
@@Egg-Thor “falling in pota-toes” means falling while wearing the boots.
The robot giant is actually the Mega Spud skin, and mega spud is one of the community managers for Minecraft!
This feels less like an April Fool's snapshot and more like a mod review for a crazy mod from a decade ago. The effort put into this is respectable, and some of the mechanics (the flying block, grappling hooks, and a block hostile mobs can spawn on regardless of light level) sound like they'd be great in the actual game. I wouldn't be surprised if at least some of these are testing mechanics are planning to potentially add in the future.
i hope so because if this kind of effort got put into regular updates we will be eating gooood
the floating blocks is really cool, I hope Mojang adds it to a future update. so cool having a floating house that MOVES.
ikr, it's almost like valkyrien skies
They HAVE TO ADD its to good
@@macrohotline8834 the /transform command was amazing in the last april fools snapshot, still waiting on that :/
IKR
the wind charge is literally perfect for a recipe too
I found a potato geode in the overworld. It has a layer of cobblestone, then granite, then the potato blocks mixed with poisonous potato blocks in place of amethyst.
And yet, regular geodes and regular shipwrecks generate at random in the dimension
I found them in the potato dimension.
The Potatofication Enchant makes it that when you break a block it drops potatoes.
Mojang casually adding an amazingly fun grappling hook and jet engines in an "April fools snapshot"
Meanwhile we get to vote between 3 crappy mobs and only one gets added...
Also you HAVE to try using the grappling hook with the elytra, the speed you get from the hook makes you able to fly higher with the elytra
Also the hook range in infinite: when you get in range to load the hook entity the vine reappears and pulls you to it!
i wonder what happens if you shoot the hook at the moon
@@witha1 Or the sun.
@@witha1 you take the moon and you take the sun
Dude they use april fools snapshots to put random stuff in the community has been asking for that don't fit in minecraft. That or they're testing them early.
@@xanderridley-smith3613 You really think that they coded such a well functioning moving entity system with zero intent of it making it into the real game, only to "please the community" because they think it doesnt fit in with Minecraft?
the "poisonous Potato man" and "this is not a potato" are a nod to two René magritte paintings, "son of Man" and "the treachery of images"
My art nerd brain was so happy lol
yes in I think the potato man was Haus from 2B2T?
as a belgian, i am glad that someone said this!
tbh I thought that was pretty obvious. its not like Magritte is obscure or anything.
@@moonienoire not everyone these days know art, it is crazy how less people know about art these days.. there are people that don’t know who painted the scream…
Ah so that is what the frying table was for. I remember it leaked from a tab left open in a Minecraft video and people thought we would get a food update or something. I guess they weren't entirely wrong
Technically, this is a food update 😂
Mojang even had to play it off, claiming it was just a random tab haha!
I love that the floataters stack, so if you put a bunch of them in a row and power them all at once, you can make an insanely fast rocket
11:00 - A nod to "Treachery of images" (the "Ce n'est pas une pipe" painting) and 11:17 is based on "The Son of Man" (the guy with a bowler hat and an apple in front of his face) both original works were painted by Magritte. Love the update, and thank you Xisuma for giving us such in-depth details. Fantastic as always.
The way they're made the smooth moving block could be a real cool way to implement ships in Minecraft. Perhaps it could be a propeller block that floats on water.
Honestly that would be a dream come true to me! I always wanted an actual pirate ship in mc!
It'd be awesome but only if your going in a straight line.
@@edtuckerartist If they could make redstone work and maybe allow multiple thrusters to work at once, i.e forward and left makes it go diagonal, you could switch directions on and off with levers
That would be too cool though so it probably won't happen
@@VolsraphelI mean, if many april fools features eventually get added, I think the chance for it being added is quite high
as long as it can be activated via button or lever it could be really fun
The pig is a Loaded Baked Potato (they have bacon as a topping on them).
Or.. hear me out..

It's strange how many things in this April Fool's Update seemed to be based on Extra Utilities. Floater can be placed like an Angel Block, Cursed Earth equivalent, Double Compressed Block, ectara. Wonder if all of this is meant to references mods in general, after all grappling hooks and reskinned dimensions are fairly common.
Wonder if the Aether mod dev was a force behind it being a homage?
Few more things you probably didn't know about is.
The rain in one of the new biomes also poisons you
You can craft tridents from items called dents dropped by the plaguewhale
All villagers no longer trades emeralds but trades in poisonous potatoes and Amber gems
The resins has different clarity levels depending on where you obtained it, cloudy is from ore and fishy is from toxifins.
Potato of knowledge is a consumable Exp bottle.
You can sleep in the new Dimension
Potato zombies attack other undead mobs, turning them into more potato zombies
To lubricate items you need to put the item you want to lubricate in the bottle slot and the oil in the potato slot with a fuel source underneath
Lastly that this is probably the most new content we'll get this year
For those interested, that one painting xisuma that couldnt recognize (the one with the man with a potato in front of his face) was based on the painting "Son of Man" by René Magritte.
spud of man by rené mash-gritte
Thanks!
I can already see Bdubbs masterfully implementing the potato blocks into his intricate textures and gradients, idk how you guys make decisions in the hermitcraft server but I’m sure he’d be be an advocate to add the new potato blocks in.
For sure, we need more mossy covered blocks in the game! Could add them in the stone cutter as mud brick variants maybe? Like how the new tuff blocks were added.
I really hope he makes a video of building in this dimension!

I just love the 'Potatiesh Greatstaff of the Peasant' reference to 'Atiesh Greatstaff of the Guardian' from World of Warcraft!
This might be the most hilarious April Fools update.
Some of this stuff is genius, and, as usual, was probably so much fun to think up.
(There's the mysterious frying table.)
What's mysterious about the frying table? It's just a retextured campfire.

Potatoes might be objectively the best thing in the world, but can we all agree how freaking amazing the flotato block and mechanic was?
Imagine Create/Aeronautics/Valkyrien Skies' mechanics in vanilla
This is so freaking cool omg
Most likely.
@@theonebman7581 I wanted to say no they aren't, but it is really hard to think of something better.. maybe Avocados? But potatoes are more accessible which plays a role into the ranking too.. hmm
Potatoes have resistance starch which is great, but they have
lectins, oxalates, alkaloids, phytic acid (which some is good, and they don't have a ton), and lots of starch. Not a lot of vegetables you can solely survive off of like you can potatoes, though, and those bad chemicals can be lowered by cooking to get them to acceptable amounts, but if you're eating them everyday that is a lot of all of them while not getting the cleansing benefits of other vegetables and even fruits. Hard to say, really.
This strikes me as a combination of ideas they had for the Trails update, an end update, and a potential Skulk dimension. There are random pathways and potato-wood platforms naturally generating (literal trails). The grappling hook would make end traversal much more fun. A new block that is semi-hostile (possible new skulk variant block?). The potato wood also somewhat resembles recolored/re-textured bamboo, maybe they had plans at one point to add a bamboo village? The potato boss also seems like a theoretical new boss mob idea. Imagine changing the context to fighting a skulk boss that has absorbed the "souls" of so many mobs and you have to beat it by defeating the "ghosts" of what it has absorbed.
I know they tend to go wacky with the April fool's update but this seems like it has way more of a beta test feel to it than just being for silly laughs
Few April Fools updates went this way.
These joke updates usually have a few prototypes features in them that we get in a real update later. I am thinking that the moving structures with proper player collision could be something they add in, at least for custom map usage.
I'm wondering if this shows off any other new features, but can only come up with a very short list.
- smoothly moving structures
- grappling hook (may have been implemented as a proof of concept in case the crab won the mob vote)
- new tree generation (looks like Acacia with changed parameters)
- placing blocks in mid-air
...
I don't see any clear planned feature that would benefit from this though - unless they do add the crab.
Exactly. I went through last years update, and some of the features seem to have been added or were hinted at during the april fools update. Here are a few: The copper spleaves look very similar copper grates, the pickaxe block and place block might have hinted at the crafter, the void potion might have hinted at the ominous potion, and the big and small potions might have hinted at the new effects we got.
@@sebastianjost Don't forget biome-dependent mob skins. I've been wanting that in vanilla resource packs for years.
The dialogue with the floating potato head at the start is def them testing implementing a traditional game tutorial / adding functionality to allow mapmakers to do it.
And MegaSpud - code for bosses where you have to kill their minions before they drop their shield.
I mean they have been really leaning into exploration so what better way to explore than something like an air ship mechanic. Plus it would give an alternative to elytra's if they ever want to adjust those.
I feel the excessive need to say that in the french version, the potato dirt is called "Terre de pomme", while potato is "Pomme de terre" directly translating to apple of earth
I noticed that too, what a cool addition xD
It is that way in English translation of Minecraft too.
Not sure if all people are gonna get it but as a French learner, it made me smile
@@tj-co9goSame! I learned it from one of the early Assimil lessons.
thats so good
A lot of these seem to refer to an old mod called extra utilities it had compressed cobblestone (up to octuples) angel blocks you could place in the air like the floatato and more
Grappling is also something you fjnd in a number of mods and was inspired by fortresscraft's grappling mechanic (behaves the same and looks similar with a green beam) there is probably even more references I missed
21:08 it’s a tool enchantment that makes whatever block you break with it drop a bunch of potatoes.
Man I hope that grappling hook eventually makes it into a real update
Combined with the mace...
You would need 3,779,136 poisonous potatoes to make a stack of quadruple compressed potato blocks! Should be easy with Potatofication 🤔
p = 9^n
p potato count,
n potato block tier.
9, 81, 729, 6561, 59049.
One stack of blocks
p = 64 * 9^n
576, 5184, 46656, 419904, 3779136.
seems to be correct.
75582720 that's how many potatoe crops you would have to mine to get that
Due to the fact 1 in 20 potatoes farmed are poisonous
This update has so much potential for cool airship builds, I want the floatater to be in regular minecraft.
i hope they will add it too... I want floater block, grapplin and potatoes flowers ! (and why not frying table)
@@flameheart92 I think it would be really cool if there were flowers for all of the crops.
I love how the potato's head that's talking to you tilts back and forth like a Hotline Miami cutscene.
The player is just slowly going insane from consuming a poisonous potato and is going to start hearing a phone ringing in a few hours..
The Toxifin slab seems like a great variant to add to the regular game.
Yes
You need a bow to deal with them, since melee attacking them results in you getting withering
variants and actual combat dont seem to be something they like to add
@@Kodaiva they literally just added a skeleton variant
@@Kodaiva I hear more complaints about them not adding new items and just adding more variants.
Let's see;
Husk, magma Cube, piglen brute, pillager, stray, vindicator, wither skeleton, zoglin, zombie villager, Elder guardian, endermite, evoker, zombified piglin, dogs, cats, cave spider, drowned, pandas, glow squid, mooshroom, parrots, rabbit, frogs, donkey, mule, and oh my gosh the number of tropical fish.
Anyone think of ones I missed?
Toxifins and Plaguewhales honestly seem like betas for an actual in-testing mob, be it reworks or a cousin species to the guardians. even if this isn't the case and nothing comes of it, i think it's safe to assume the modding community will pick them up, un-potato them and make them into a mod of their own.
A lot of these features feel like in-development items and mobs for 1.21 1.22, and I really hope we see things like the grappling hook un-potato-ified later on.
Same went for last year's growing and shrinking potions
I'd also argue the boss mechanics. Having phases in the fight are super cool
@@MeloniestNeonwind dart
@@jamwrightiamThr Wither already has a notable phase when it gets its projectile shield at half health.
They also summon 2-3 wither skeletons on half health on Bedrock.
Either they are teasing us with a new dimension. Or the ability to make custom blocks, alternates mobs and stuff with the new component system.
11:16 I think it might be a reference to the Belgium painter Rene Magritte who made a similar painting with an apple on his head
you're so right lol
Things I noticed while playing not seen in the video: The slab fish drop dents, part of a trident. Powerful potatoes are naturally occurring. Water is poisonous in certain biomes. Poisonous mash potatoes give the sticky buff when stood on, allowing the player to climb walls. Potato sheep can be sheared for their peels which come in whatever color they were. The grappling hook base can be found in a starter chest which is full of farming equipment.
The new slime potion would be cool for climbing walls lol
Interesting, maybe we can be able to craft tridents soon?
7:48 actually, you can crawl under these blocks to find four spawners which are positioned under the center platform
Nice work X! Huge update!
"Potatiesh"
Oh man, still remember that from a long long time ago :D awesome that someone at Mojang referenced Atiesh!
This seems like the sort of thing the Hermits should tackle as a group in a livestream together for charity to create the most beautiful (revolting) build. Starting out with six hours, all donations of a certain amount will lengthen the time you all play it.
I'd love to see what sort of monstrosity pops up and whether any hermits would be able to complete all the achievements for this update in that time.
Reminds me of the time Grian and his friends played the Vote Update. I tell ya man, these april fools updates are criminally underrated for multiplayer.
hey Longa
In that case I wouldn't watch it
If flotaters are added to vanilla hermitcraft pranks would go insane.
People need to ask mojang. I think everybody want this block in the gaame. You could create ship, plane, car, elevators, parkour map...
@@flameheart92 i actually really hope we never get anything like this, at least in survival.
@@SoshJamdisagree
I’m really glad that I experienced this update blind and in survival, there were a lot of things that you didn’t understand, that I knew, like how the beams for the grappling hooks are obtained by the potato guardians. And making the grapplers and elytra myself.
I started this blind in survival too, but haven't interacted much with the slab guardians yet, and I'm still trying to figure out how grappling hooks are made, what I'm supposed to do with toxic resin, and how to find amber... I'm taking an awful long time to explore stuff, haha, but I stumbled upon the boss dude while randomly caving instead of finding him with the potato eyes.
You want to use regular potato oil, not poisoned one, for lubrication. Lubricated items when thrown slide a distance linearly dependant on lubrication level.
You can put lubricated items into the refinery recursively, to get higher lubrication levels. Lubrication level is a 32bit integer, it's a component, so can be modified in for example /give command.
The boss's name and the staff it drops are both likely references to World of Warcraft. Jaraxxus, Eredar Lord of the Burning Legion and Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian.
I was looking for that comment! Didn't expect to see Warcraft reference in Minecraft 😂
I need more!
You need 3779136 poisonous potated to make a stack of quad compressed.
I use Arch btw
which is because, to make a block you need 9 potatos (9), then 9 of those to get the compressed block (9^2), 9 of those for double compressed (9^3)
or in general for n compressed block you need 9^(1+n) potatos
so quad is 4th conpressed meaning 9^(4+1)=9^5=potatos
then 64 of that meaning
(9^5)*64 = 59,049*64 = 3,779,136
@aceae4210
Your explanation and the 9^(1+n) is excellent. -But- -the- (5^9)** -isnt- -correct-.
** he wrote (9^5) but my app which is set to RTL is putting it as (5^9). Stupid right!
@aceae4210
Anyway, 3_779_136 is so much potatos.
@@xrafter he never said 5^9. also 9^5 does equal 59,049
I need like all of this in a data pack or something, it's all so good! Thanks for the video X!
i was thinking the same thing is it possible?
it takes 3,779,136 poisonous potatoes to make a stack of quadruple compressed poisonous potato blocks, at 59,049 just to make ONE.
filling up a shulker box with stack of those quadruple compressed blocks, and then filling a double chest with those shulker boxes, you can fit a total of 5,509,980,288 poisonous potatoes in one double chest.
Mojang was testing the custom worlds thing on previous april fools (god its like 3-4 years by now isnt it),
then we got a portal looking ring in ancient city,
now they make straight up new dimension on april fools.
There is definetly some hinting of future big update.
I mean, they’ve been making new dimensions for April fools for a while now. Remember the moon dimension from 2023 April fools?
there's actually a trapdoor in the colosseum floor that leads into a weird 1-tall maze (reminiscent of the potato door texture!) that just has four spawners for the slab guardians in it and nothing else
also if you trigger more than one floatater at once the speed goes up, you can use /fill commands to aim a bunch of observers at a big square of them, I tried up to 7x7 which zoomed off pretty quickly!
Im going to try this on an end ship
So the smooth sailing jet engine block is of course amazing for so many things, but the corrupted block is pretty good too. Easy general purpose mob farm without needing to worry about light levels.
The level of effort is amazing!
4:14 The Potatogers do have trades, they are just very efy about picking work stations.
As much as i love this update im upset its only for april fools, it adds so much cool stuff
Someone is gonna make it a side mod to keep it up
I have a feeling many of the cool features are testing for 1.21 or 1.22
@@kirbs_3378 Some features here are straight out of the classic Extra Utilities mod, so much so that I’m unsure if it’s a coincidence?
To me it seems like this was a hidden test for some features coming in an end update: Floating island biomes terrain generation, floating blocks, "engine" blocks, grappling hook all seem to fit perfectly into an end update. And the block that is shooting at mobs also does not seem to fit into a potato update, but much better as a feature in an end update.
@@StAngerNo1 i'm pretty sure the floating island generation is just the end generation reused, but yeah that stuff seems like it would fit in an end update
So many of those blocks need a vanilla counterpart added.
The floater, the corrupted peel and turrets would make awesome small auto mob farms.
Nice Snapshot overview! looks like a fun one :) So much potential :)
Potatification on tools drops potatoes and poisonous potatoes when breaking blocks. Most blocks in potato dimension are broken with a hoe. The quardian slab mobs actually have spawners under the boss chamber. Also potato villagers can have jobs.
Thank you for an amazing video ❤ There were loads of things to discover and thanks to you I picked up some cool ones. Hope that you can read this comment and learn something from my exploration.
The "this is not a potato" painting and the one with a potato covering a man's face are both based on famous paintings by René Magritte, specifically they're based on "The Treachery of Images" and "The Son of Man" respectively.
They added more for April Fools than they did for 1.21 -_-
Potato aether was interesting to see, I really hope we get to see some of these features in game at some point. The floatater mechanic is awesome, the grappling hook mechanic is really cool and even some of the smaller things, like amber and craftable tridents would be very interesting
Such a large and detail snapshot indeed, love what mojang does on their april fool's updates!

@@epicsouththeoduskiangamer like the coal block and stain glass from the 2013 april fools Update(minecraft 2.0)

There's so much inspiration from modded minecraft with this
the whole dimension is very similar to the Aether
Floatato blocks are like Extra Utilities (2) Angel Block
Compressed potato blocks are like AllTheCompressed blocks
The corrupted potato blocks are like Dreadful Dirt from Mob Grinding Utils
The Mega Spud resembles the King Slime from Tinkers' Construct
Lashing Potato has many Grappling mod to compare to, most common is probably Immersive Engineering's Engineer's Skyhook
etc.
The doubling up mechanic seems like a fun thing to see. Imagine slimes doing that and get a tower of them. I would find it fun
ive noticed in the past theyve used april fools snapshots to tease mechanics and tech theyve been working on so hopefully well see some kind of grappling hook or block mover soon
Their favourite character in the Avengers is Tony Starch

Tater Starcher AKA Spudermash
They even included potato vines so you can swing around just like him!
EDIT: And a sticky effect allowing you to climb walls. I think we have our winner here!
It’s cool how these updates are all hinting at things to possibly come :D
Wow, I'm impressed they packed so many things into this!!
3,779,136 poisinous potatoes to make a stack of quadruple compressed potato blocks
This definitely seems like a blueprint for a new dimension, they're probably tinkering with some features in this April Fools update so they can later add it on in some way or another.
But they could really give some texture love to the old mobs like cows, pigs and chickens. This proves how easy you can put together new textures, it wouldn't even be hard to surpass the old ones based on how they aged.
@@rafael_lanaEhhhhhh... Old mobs such as cow, pigs and chickens are good as it is. No need to change them.
@@lolz3895 you'd be surprised how many people disagree. Look at how good the response to the new dogs were, people literally care more about new dog colors than the armadillo or the armor.
@@lolz3895When most people think of cows, they think of the black and white ones. The ones in game are brown. Plus, we have brown and black chickens in real life, too.
Adding more variants for the classic domestic mobs would help them be more consistent with other passive mobs. It doesn’t make sense that axolotls have more skin variants than cows.
This is what I hoped for every AF updates... ANd then they add nothing.
Randomized portals were SO COOL
The Floatater gave me SO many ideas for builds. I’d love for it to be added.
That was awesome
the floatater - if it goes up to the build limit and you activate it again, it breaks any block, including bedrock, it wont be stopped by obsidian and bedrock (probably for now), blocks placed on the sticky spot will drag other blocks with them, but the floatater does not stick itself (accept the sticky spot), ... the potato battery - if you turn it on it produces an redstone output of 15 and you cant turn it on with redstone itself
you forgot that - if you fall from a big height onto the potato grass block (forgot the name) it will turn into mashed potato
your video is to this current point the most correct, and almost everything you showed is what i have discovered and that is crazy to me .... fun fact, a few days ago i made an potato farm on a smp, and found a few poisoned potatos in the chests and said "oh right these exist" and today (01.04.2024.) minecraft anounced this update, i was flabergasted when i saw it and basicly i kinda predicted the poisoned potato update (that poisend potato on the smp was a sign)
i also found out how to make a simple flipflop bridge out of floateters and elevators
and the more floaters you put on one "chunk of blocks" the faster the "chunk of blocks" will go
landing on any block from high enough while wearing the pota-toe boots also makes mashed potatoes
@@Joneender yes, I forgot when I played it the first time I found the pota-toes and and put them on ...
Floatater is definitely my favorite block, i hope mojang gave us something similar in the future update where we could interact with the moving block.
"On the 5th day we met the Stray" that was beautiful! also i didnt expect them to add a grappling hook, seems fun to play with
It seems like if you used it in survival you would die nearly instantly.
Which is honestly probably a good thing. Adds a new skill to master.
I wish I saw your video sooner! The update has ended and I didn't even find out about the floatato machines! I wish there were more dimensions in Minecraft. Especially goofy ones like this.
So much of this feels like an homage to modded mc--makes sense given a lot of the devs have a history in modded and don't get to put those ideas in vanilla. But like, quadruple-compressed cobblestone? Blocks that can spawn mobs regardless of light?
A lot of it is just straight out of Extra Utilities! I love it!
The potato flower is literally just the wild potato in farmers delight
This shows how talented and not lazy the devs are, they are only limited by what they are allowed to place in the game.
Tis glorious. The update that the wonderful emerald potato!!
Honestly dopest thing in Minecraft ive seen. Hopefully this is a trial run for some new features in real game.
Thanks for covering it so fast! I played it for a bit but couldn't be bothered to try and beat that insane boss. I don't think I had even done any kind of damage.
I saw the same thing with you and the redstone block seemingly moving away. Pretty wild optical illusion.
18:43 Oh wait didn't people see the frying table show up in some picture about the crafter a while ago? Turns out it was just for this April Fools update I guess.
Once again, an April Fools update with a few things we would really want to see in Vanilla! The floating blocks and motor are really cool, it makes me wonder why they havent actually added airships to minecraft yet! Also that exhaust thing is similar to something i mentioned on one of Tangos videos, basically a box fan looking thing that can blow players, mobs and items in whatever direction you place it in! Could also work work with pushing airships around too :)
April fools snapshots use code from stuff they’re already working on, so we probably will get something similar in the next update or the one after that
Genuinely loving the potato tree, the green animated logs look amazing and I need 1 million of them.
So much content can be added to the game in such a short time... I wish updates were this fun and full of content
There will be so much outrage about "the mojang devs spend more time making april fools updates than the real updates"
this happens every year with the april fools updates
They do though. Idc how much you deny it, they have an entire year to make an official update, but the content in those updates are laughable compared to these content filled "joke" updates. Bugs or not, these updates are so much more fun and interesting than the official updates we receive annually.
@@furrymczplayer18 If this were actually added to the main game, people would complain about how ugly and pointless it is. Also, this has only been added to java, nothing else.
@@uberculex He wasn't talking about this specifically. They could have spent the resources that went into this snapshot, developing actual permanent features for the game
@@uberculexActually, Mojang also added an addon for Minecraft bedrock. It doesn't add as much stuff as Java does, but at least its something. And I don't think people would complain If this came in an official update. These features are super cool and fun
Nice pun to Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian
Maybe the fried legion is a burning legion reference too.
@@DaveyJones-cj4xg Might be a reference to jaraxxus, because:
You face *megaspud, potatolord of the fried legion*
A strong grappling hook could be a contender to elytra as far as getting around if it's good enough and has a good range
Ooo. Those blocks look like you could make a tower defense game in minecraft.
I guess you could make one regardless with zombie pigmen and turtle eggs? Youd have to avoid angering them so they come at you, other than if there was a path from the eggs to you behind the scenes
I love the hotline miami reference
🔥 update
to lubricate with the refinery you put fuel (like wood or something) in the bottom left slot, normal potato oil in the top left slot, and the item you want to lubricate in the top right slot
Theres actually good ideas that i would love to see on the game. Like the resin blocks, made me think of amber that could have collectable items to find a bit like suspicious Sand/Gravel. Also i like the fight mechanics of the boss. It could add a bit of depth to combat.
