  • The home button on the center console was sticking for seemingly no reason. Maybe dirt got in there or something, but it wouldn’t come back up. Could find any info on cupholder removal for this model, so I just thought I’d share to help the community.

    For those who still can’t get it out, there is a screw under the back cup holder rubber mat

      Hope you don’t mind, but I pinned your comment. Evidently this is the case with several models.

      I don’t mind at all. I didn’t realize it and ended up bending the aluminum brace all the way upwards until I shoved a flashlight into the center console and saw it. The aluminum brace can bend back down so the piece will be okay

    There is actually a brace that connects to the bottom of the cup holders that does not allow for the removal unless otherwise broken or never reinstalled. Very crucial to this job.

    I have a Mazda 3 with basically the same design of cup holders. When you removed the cup holders, were you able to get access to the usb/aux port module that is in the centre console? I am trying to install CarPlay in my car but I need to figure out how you can get to that module in the centre console. Thanks in advance

    So in the end it looks like you didn't even have to disassemble anything. Just wear off the stickyness that was in there with repeat presses?

    • @giorockmaster
      @giorockmaster 5 лет назад

      MadResults he disassembled it because the button wasn’t coming back up. Think I’m going to try getting some string in there to pull it back up so I can do the repeat presses. I have a Mazda3 so I’m not sure if I can disassemble it the same way

    the center console buttons for my car fell in idk if there was a screw that fell off or a clip that broke suggestions?

    • @gibsonax
      @gibsonax  2 года назад

      I’m not sure, I’d assume these are spring loaded so maybe check under the buttons to see if the spring is still there? Something has to keep them under tension so they return to the “up” position.

    • @TheNDex
      @TheNDex 3 года назад +1

      Thiis works on 2017 mazda 3 4door or 5door. It's fairly easy don't be afraid to use a lil force. The clips are strong. One thing you need to do is take a screw off where the cup holders are at. To get there remove two rubber pads. Also inside the center console there was two black screws. Not sure if you need to take that off but I did. Gl and thx for the video
