I also have another video related to Mazda LCD anti glare scratches and how to remove the scratches from the LCD touch screen.

Thank you for your advice, it is frustrating that Mazda does not assume its responsibility, fortunately you have helped me solve this problem
This was easy and worked perfectly for my 2017 Mazda 6. Details aren't exactly the same, but close enough that I was able to easily figure it out. Took me 20-30 mins. Thank you!
I just recently purchased a used 2017 Mazda 6 and found out a few days after closing on it that the screen has the "ghost touch" problem. Hoping that the dealership will pay to repair it, but if not, then this video will be very helpful.
Your video was very helpful. I just did this on my daughter's 2017 exactly as you mentioned. So far no ghosting. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
How so? this isn’t a 2017
@@silverk496because he followed the steps and has an independent brain
@@silverk496 Similar interior regardless. It hasn't been redesigned in any way
Piece of cake with this video. Took me 20 mins! Thank you for the helpful advice!
Thanks so much my friend! Just followed your instructions with no prior experience with cars. This only took me an hour, was pretty easy and everything else still works! Never used the touch screen anyway except when the ghost touch was messing with me.
The dealer quoted me $700-1600 and they wanted to keep it overnight... no thanks hahah- this was a perfect alternative! The only challenging bit was the cables you point to at 5:32 and "cracking the back off." I used a butter knife because I didn't have anything else and it left a few scratches.
Thanks again, problem solved!
Just wanted to say thanks so much for this video - super clear and helpful and I was able to do this in under an hour even though I have never taken apart a dash/infotainment system before. Problem solved!
Thank you so much! Follow the steps and finally fixed the annoying ghost touch!
Thanks for this video. Was very helpful getting the ribbon disconnected.
Thanks so much for the help and the knowledge! Just finished this on a 2019 CX5 Grand Touring and it’s has had no issues! We have a long drive ahead of us and it used to kick on after long periods of driving or sun exposure or whatever and I’m looking forward to no issues at all! THANKS KINDLY!
Any updates?
This video helped me a lot. No more ghost touch and don't really use the touchscreen. I'm fine!!!😁
Thanks for the info. I didn't get a new screen, just disabled the touch function. By disassembling and pulling out the lower ribbon no more ghost touch. Thanks again!!!!
Fantastic! I'm thrilled to hear it worked out well for you.
Thank you for sharing, Mazda charging me $185 to perform a diagnostic to determine why my informant is rebooting then I have to pay to get it fixed. When they could easily tell me to remove the SD NAV card.
This is actually a really common problem they told me the same thing and I have the ghost touch thing on my mx5 they said 185 to diag and I said you cant tell me a possible fix before wasting time they said no its company policy
I just found your video and just did this to my 2017 cx5! So happy I found your video!
Thank you for your video. I was able to fix it.
Such relief I am now.
Thanks much! Did this yesterday evening. Glad to get rid of ghost touch.
Bro. Thank you! I'll do this after I'm done with the Android Auto retrofit. Will probably not do it the same day since taking the screen it's so easy once you've done the retrofit.
Yes, they should recall. I just bought a used cx5 and I had no idea about the ghost infotainment, until mine did it a week later.
Did you fix it? Mine just blanked out today. I can't use the backup camera or navigation because no image. Any idea or help please?
@@84848AR I think your problem is not related to the ghost touch, it’s a different problem within the unit.
@Admnnn check your fuses and battery? Any thing else acting odd? I'd go with what Aussie said. It could be you'll need the brain or the OEM radio...could go junk yard or ebay but never know how long that'll last. I will say a new one is double or triple Ebay price! Mazda dealer could diagnose but with a fee. Make sure you have the latest version of sd card bc all the threads and videos warn of having this updated version before installing many of the new equipment.
I replaced my screen (bought a new screen on Amazon abt $300...not the full OEM tho
..and this fixed the phantom touches caused by delamination. Was able to do it myself in less than an hour by watching RUclips. (I also bought a screen protector to save any future damage.)
My 2018 CX5 is doing the same thing...thanks for tutorial 😊
This was such a helpful video, thank you!
I made a video about this, a rant if you will. Mazda needs to fix this.
Many thanks! Your vid made this so easy!
Thank you. This was a big help
Awesome vid thank you!
Well done mate 👍🏼
Thank you so much for sharing!!
Question: how can you use Mazda diagnostic/test screen with just the knobs? From my tests it looks like you can only interact with all the buttons on its keypad using the touch screen.
You’re a hero for real god ducking bless
On my 2017 Miata, by just removing the SD card the ghost rebooting (and other Infotainment-associated problems) happily vanished!
Thank you so much!
Done … thank you
Thank you so much .
Does all mazdas have the same information setup like hardware wise from mx5 to mazda 6 ? Just wondering
hey I have a 2017 mazda cx3 and the infotainment turns on amd off nonstop any ideas on whats the problem?
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Isaac . I have a 2016 Cx 9 gt . Can I upgrade the screen to touch screen . If I can where can I get it?
I am interested in completely removing the bluetooth module from my 2019 Mazda CX-3. Is that something you know how to do?
Just fixed ! 👍🏻
Anyone have any tips on how to restart my radio in CX5 nothing working to turn it back on
How to remove the safety Toch when Im driving? Mazda 6 2023
My display when totally blank and i did this mod in the hopes it would fix it because it did occasionally have the ghost touching problem. Sadly no it didn't fix my issue but i didnt expect it would. And yes ive tried all the button combinations to reset the unit and that doesnt work either
I removed the Navagation SD Card and cleaned it with a Qtip and rubbing alcohol and so far no reboots. I'm hoping this cures the issue.
Most simple thing is instead to open screw and remove strip just remove brown wire junction and display will b off and ghost touch will not bother you
Everyone has to report the problem on the national recall site for them to do something
I don’t have that as card
I did this fix, the ghost touch has stopped but the system is still rebooting any idea what it could be?
Hello, I suggest that you remove the navigation disk and teat your system for a few days. If problem is resolve you have a bad navigation disk if not try to update the system’s firmware. Dealerships charge $200 to update the firmware to the latest version but try to remove or replace the navigation disk first. Navi disks are sold around $50 on Amazon.
In my case I replaced the navigation module or Apple carplay module where you put the navigation memory. My module was acting up. I replaced it and there no more rebooting.
Navigation module inside the center console where you see the USB ports and the slot for the navigation memory
Thanks for the reply, i will try that out
Another video showed that after cleaning the disks contacts with a new pencil eraser the rebooting problem stopped. Might need to do this every 6 months or so.
I’m about to do this on mine. The ghost touch drives me insane
FYI- followed the steps and fixed all my issues in 20 minutes 💪
Don't understand 2017 with touch screen??
I don’t either honestly it seems redundant cause the knob works good and the touch doesn’t work when driving
So your solution is to get rid of the touch feature and that's it?
That’s actual how mazda was going to fix it by adding a turn off touch feature mode in the settings
My 2020 is now ghosting me… after sitting dormant in the sun for 24 months
Iam old school. I would have been happy without the screen. Just give me a regular radio and I would have used my phone for a gps.
The only problem doing this is if you have navigation, it won't work without the cable being plugged in.
Are you saying that for CarPlay? Or for the navigation from the vehicle itself?
My navigation works fine after doing this.
Mazda made the touch as an afterthought as it seems cause even the nav can be manipulated by the knob
Why do you keep calling this a touch screen? It's not.
Because this is Mazda 6 with MZD connect which is a touch screen. In this video you see how to disable the touch screen so that you can only use the rotary knob.

Awesome, thanks man!!!
Mazda now has a TSB to replace display.

This is great. Thanks for sharing the news !
Why does the dealer look like you have 2 heads when this is mentioned 2022? Cx5
