I never been so underwhelmed by a camera release. The stabe and focus it is top notch! The price is too high, electronic shutter only, pancake lens, no EVF, no headphone jack and no hot shoe. Over heating on HD, really? It seems they dumbed down and made it overly complex at the same time. For a small camera the lens are not helping it as a travel pocket camera. I want to be positive, but it seems half baked.
What I find very interesting. Is that speaking about grip and holding a camera when somebody creates a camera just like the Leica They don’t mention anything about a grip or holding the camera Now with the S9, everybody talks about holding and needing a grip and so on Just interesting once somebody like Panasonic now comes up with a minimalist body. There’s all kinds of comments, but one like it comes out with their cameras and minimalistic body. Nobody says anything but praise.
The camera isn't for everyone, and it's certainly not for me, but I think we did a decent job of pointing out what it does well and what its limitations are for those who might be in the market for something like this.
It's beyond comprehension: a camera that cannot be a real camera due to lack of a mechanical shutter: Night photos with dark bars (irrecoverable) and distortions of moving subjects because the electronic shutter is mediocre! A video mode that overheats and limits sequences of max 15 minutes with unpredictable cuts! A crude copy of film simulations that has nothing to do with the Art of Fujifilm. Can we really make fun of consumers who are not experts and who will buy this Lumix S9 with their eyes closed? When will there be a version without diaphragm adjustment to align with smartphones? They should also remove the SD card connection and limit its use to the small internal memory like a ‘carbon pass’! No mic jack, obviously. We have pushed the limits of ridiculousness and the worst thing is that some people will buy it because there are different colors.
World has moved on, iPhone is the top camera if you look at the sales number, ignoring the technology would be a failure for any camera company, this is what Panasonic addressing based on the customer expectation however Fuji is giving their clients what they need, that's all. Once the bottleneck of rolling shutter issue more and more camera company will adapt and improve the technology to incorporate higher shutter capable flash . G100 is one of their early prototype and not many liked it, but it is a great street camera.
Thanks! I'd love to see comparisons with the Sigma fp/fpL, S5II and microfourthirds G100/GX9 (maybe even with the Blackmagic L-mount since it's also electronic-shutter only, I think -- I really want Sigma or DJi/Hasselblad to make some leaf shutter lenses now.) P.S. 20:00 Note that the fp L has crop-zoom on the 61mp
I wonder if this is the beginning of the end of Panasonic? Pentax also produced multicolored cameras, we know how it ended. 😁 And on the subject - complete disappointment
Most folks so underwhelmed by this camera release, well there have been PLENTY of cameras, far less appealing.. Some of which costing more and not even Full Frame.
Too bad OM Systems didn’t put out a Pen II with higher res LCD and a viewfinder. Guess I’ll stick with my Olympus P7 and Pen pl10. Still great photos from them.
The manual pancake lens is not focus during your walking test . Love the features of S9 but I’ll wait for the higher end model , hopefully S1R ii with 60mp & 8k24
We did not get paid and we don't have an affiliate program. We did enjoy a trip to Japan to see the camera and did put the camera through the rigors to conclude the things that we concluded. Overall it is a camera for people who want fast and easy social posting.
@@TheSlantedLens I'd be ok with it if it was the Nikon z8/z9 or Sony a9iii, but with no hot shoe and no mech shutter this camera looks to be more video. Looks really good though, I would have gotten a green one if it met my needs 👍

S9 aims at beginner from iphone.
It's aimed at people who know nothing about cameras and or photography

As someone who owns a Leica, I heartily recommend a thumb grip at the very least! I'm on your side!
Oh look, more bought and paid for S9 shilling

Different needs for different photography and video uses. Maybe not for you but maybe for a social media content creator.

yup there slowly falling off good to see a real commenter and not a bot

Each person has to decide what is important for them in their camera choice.

Don’t give up hope!
EVFs ruined my right eye for me. I used to have 20/20 but after getting into DSLRs, I think it calibrated and now its not normal.
Wow, that stinks. Not as great when you have to use glasses!
wow didn't think the Slanted Lens were such shills for camera companies disappointing really.
I hope the free trip to Japan was worth it.
It really is a camera for a niche of content creators who want a very small camera, ability to change lenses and fast social media uploads.
I’m hoping this is the beginning of LUMIX products in this full frame segment not its last!
They have a strong foot hold in there!
when shooting in 4k 60p, presumably it's already in the cropped mode, does the hybrid zoom function still works and no loss of resolution?
Overheats . Quickly. Pricey. Pass
Thanks for watching and keep on clickin!
Is this an April fools joke. ?😮

FTC disclosure???

Where can we download the new app? Not available on the playstore?
I would assume that it will be available as soon as you can purchase the camera. It is on pre-order right now.
Shame it's electronic shutter only
Seems to be the way of the future.

Yey🎉🎉🎉
Glad you are excited about it!
Good review and analysis.
This video have very nice true color that makes it pleasant to watch furtherly.
Do you think it'd be possible to convert a lightroom preset to a LUT to be used for photos on this camera?
Yes, you can create LUTs from lightroom!
You actually have to open the photo and apply the preset in Photoshop in order to export a LUT, I believe. But it's totally doable!
Awesome for this price 🎉
It takes beautiful images. Great color science!
