You can cut the cooking time down a bit by cooking in a microwave at max power for 15 minutes then cooking 90 min - 2 hrs at 60%. Pre soaking helps and you can do it overnight no hassle.

To cook black beans, first put the black beans in a big bowl with lots of water leave it like that for 6-8hours then you can cook them for at least 45-50 minutes then drain them put it back on the pot. season them last.
How to tell bad Black Beans: 1. Take out any that look like dry "Raisins". 2. Take out any looks "Brown". 3. Take out any that "Float" in water. 4. Take out any that is "Broken or Halves". They will produce more starch when cooked. It will make other beans looks like in muddy water.
Just a quick tip If you use hot water. Put the pot in the sink. Fill measuring cup just under the desired line. Dump water into pot, at the same time extra water is still flowing from the tap into the pot. I'm frugal and it teaches my son that every little bit matters.

I never bother to inspect my beans before cooking. In my 40 years of cooking I’ve never found a rock or had problems with eating any ‘damaged’ beans. I suspect these instructions were formulated many years ago when the methods used grow and to process beans for sale was quite different.
My Stove doesn't boil as powerfully as yours does and thus I have not achieved the desired black bean result from using your technique. What do you suggest?
Hi hi! Unless you have a separate kitchen tap dedicated to producing consumable hot water it is not safe to cook with the water from your hot tap. The hot water tank and pipes leach metals etc. that are not safe for consumption. Far safer to start your pot with cold water and bring to a boil or boil a kettle of water for cooking use.
Ohhhh plz all if that isn't necessary to cook beans hahaha all you have to do is soak it overnight and then pressure it leave it to sit in the pressure cooker and done rinse if you desire if a pressure cooker is not available then follow the first step by soaking it and then let it boil for 45 minutes and then let it rest until completely cooled down and perfect beans
Hot water soaking like she shows can just be for an hour or two. The alternative is to soak them on your counter in cold water for 6 to 8 hours or overnight. Then you cook them for about 50 to 60 minutes.
Yes dried is healthier. Cans can to leach the chemicals like the BPA from the liner and metals from the can itself. Don't use hot water from the tap though. It can also leach lead and other contaminants. Heat up the water you plan to use.
My stove doesn't boil that fast, do I wait till the heat gets that high then let it rapidly boils for 2 minutes straight, or turn it to high heat immediately and just wait until the 2 minutes?

You get do black beans in an Instant Pot in under an hour. Rinse the beans, add them to the pot, add water to about an inch above the beans, add a bit of oil, salt (optional) and cook on high pressure for 22 minutes. Follow this with a slow 10 min release and then a quick release.
Ugh I hope this works lol I've had such a hard time getting tender beans. I tried following the directions in the bag but no success. It didn't say to rinse and re-cook on low simmer so hoping this works.
Put in water for 24 hours, then cook for 30 minutes at a boil. Let it cool down to room temperature, add more water and recook for another 1 hour at low-boil. No rising need, as a lot of flavors are in that original water. The longer the second boil is, the softer they'll get.

Instead of boiling them for up to 2 hours I put them in my pressure cooker and once it's hot it won't need more than 7 or 8 min cooking 😁 I do that with all my dried beans First pour boiling water over them, let them stand for about 1 hour, then cook them in the pressure cooker for 6-8 min Simple 😁
