This is the fist time I've commented on a video. This isn't a sad comment but a celebratory comment. My aunt and I watch your content regularly. She passed away Thursday at 53 and I wanted to thank you for being such an inspiration to the both of us. Its the holiday carving season and she told me to never stop carving. She will be missed but I have dozens of Linker style carvings to remember her by. So again, thank you for all that you do. You touch lives my friend.

I just want to say, I’ve been watching you for a year now, and I’m glad you show the measurements. I appreciate the fact that things are not perfect, but it’s nice to follow along with a like sized piece of wood. Knowing the size of block that you are using is so helpful! Keep it up Bob, I mean Doug!

A great lesson that wasn't discussed, but was shown through the natural course of the video... if your project slips out of your hands, just let it drop. Don't try to catch it, especially when you have a knife in your opposite hand. Thank you for another great video @dougLinker!

Help -Well mr. linker I’ve become a fan! Your works of art are great .
So I watched your what tools do I need video. You are right I have been out of work for over a year now due to bad injury . So I started caring, very addicting.
So to save money I started making Santa ornaments, much inspired watching you.
You are right , I can’t buy a bunch of tools ! So if I was going to just buy two , one U gouge and one V tool for finishing the beard eyebrows and stash . What two would you recommend???
I have one knife like and 1” and one about 1” .
Like you said I can work with little
I have just want two for detail work !
And don’t want to end up with a wall full I’ll never use
    Thanks

    Hi Doug,
Listening to one of your carving programs. You recently mentioned Circa 1850 Terra Nova Natur Oil. You mentioned another wood carver had introduced you to this oil.
I order a bottle possibly will be here tomorrow.
If you wouldn’t mind would you share with me how you plan to use the oil on one of your carvings.
I have been using uncut BLO.
    Thanks for your time.

Ok help? I tried this and on both pieces of wood when i tried to cut the eye sockets the wood just splintered away and destroyed what would have been the nose. So 2 scrap pieces of wood and no santas this year. Any ideas why it happened? I have you video up following it step by step. The only way forward i can see is power carving this with a Dremel tool when i can source some more wood.
