Your timing couldn't be better. Two of my granddaughters just asked me to make some fairy doors so they could put them on the backyard tree. All I could say was, "huh?" Thanks!

I’ve been making these for about 10 years now - very much the same. The point is, we can never have too many gnome and fairy doors! Thanks for getting this going❤

Another great little idea and what I like most is your continued reference to 'another little world' and 'secret little world' because that is what whittling is really all about; it's not about perfect representation of reality, it can be whatever you want or imagine it to be. I'm 60 years old and I still like all that imaginary stuff - the escapism - especially in today's stress-riddled world. These little doors can be hidden around the home to be a constant reminder that we do not have to live with modern day stress every minute of our lives. The stress is only as real as we allow it to be - and little reminders of that fact bring us back down to earth. In fact, stresses are no more real than imaginary worlds behind little doors!

Keep up the good work for helping beginners understand.

Interesting carving idea, and I do like this fresh approach. One of the things I like about your channel is that when you show carving examples, you are pretty good about giving credit to other carvers which provided you inspiration or from which you copied ideas. Wish all other carvers were as free in sharing credit. I've been carving a few gnomes so I might have to make a door or two to set the scene... and I am going to have to make a bench hook. Always enjoyable to watch your videos, you make me feel like I too can do it... which I do, although not as nice. Thanks!

A 60 V gouge could be great for the stone mortar building .

Thanks Doug. Your videos demystify carving. I found carving to be a bit intimidating but your videos show the cuts and approaches in a way that makes carving much easier to do. I was inspired to finish my fairie house which I am carving out of cottonwood bark. I now make my cuts in a more refined manner so that I am doing a better job. I also did a spiritman on a piece of fresh cut aspen after watching your video on it. I did okay except for the eyes which I am not happy with. I will have to practice eyes. I also like how you point out that the carving is pretty open ended. Being somewhat of a perfectionist I am glad to see that a misscut need not be a thing to fret over as the carving can simply evolve to something a bit different that originally envisioned. I credit your videos for encouraging me to take up carving again after a fairly long period away from it. Thanks again!

A week before you did this video my wife and I took a hike through a local park (before our big snowfall) and we found some painted doors attached to some of the trees. We thought we should do this to some of our trees, then out comes this video! Perfect timing, loved this video and really liked your painting of the doors too. The extra layers of paint blended in with a wet watered brush really made it all pop out. You truly are an Artist! Thanks again for another lesson learned...Rich
