Hi! Im a 27 year old woman from Wisconsin and ever since I was a kid I wanted to wood carve. A dream once forgotten but now I'm taking a hiatus from my other lived hobbies and I rediscovered wood carving! Your video is one of many I've watched in the last few days. However, your video is my favorite for the simple fact that I feel like I'm right there next to you, enjoying coffee, the sounds of nature and just hanging out with a buddy. Great video sir! I can't wait to look at your other videos!

Old carvers never die, we just whittle away. 👍 started carving at the young age of 30 yrs old….36 years later I am still at it carving song birds, birds of prey and ducks. Enjoy watching your videos Doug…..keep up the good work. 👍🇺🇸

Did you know we're the worst country for tree cover in the whole of the G7 countries. It's about to get alot worse aswell with all the large infrastructure projects these busy bodies are passing through aswell as the cost of living crisis that's caused a rise in log burners which guess what = more trees for the chop.

Great video. What a great reminder that as you progress with carving and you get more advanced every carving does not have to be complex and highly detailed. Just have fun and relax. Thanks Doug.

In Alaska we have plenty of trees so my husband and I will start testing with alder, poplar and other types. We love your videos, thanks for taking time to do these. You are right we need to teach the younger generations too :)

When I watched you carve the large wood spirits, I thought the faces were terrific. I also thought they were not for me - I did not want to invest in larger tools and I simply prefer smaller caricatures. However, when I watched you carve a small wood spirit in a stick, I decided to try one. Thank you so much for the fabulous tutorials. You got me started on this great hobby and you have been my number one mentor ever since. I now completely understand the appeal of whittling wood spirits in a “found” piece of wood. God bless.

I have hope that the younger generation gets into stuff like this, as a 17 year old I love whittling and glad I just got into it.
