Same. I had put elite down around the time odyssey released. I was just disappointed with how slow the story unfolded and how uninteresting it was(at the time) Saw the invasion of Sol and hopped back in, hopped in my old AX ship and went to defend Procyon. Made almost 1billion in credits. It was some of the most fun I've had in Elite in a very long time.
I've never been able to do AX fighting, I've just gotten into it since Sol got attacked, it's been awesome seeing these massive battles with corvettes, condas and cutters

The battle for the megaship was on of the most brutal and difficult fights I have ever experienced in this war. Thargoids kept throwing everything at us it was a lot of fun!
CMDR Kaede Ichigo reporting o7, a survivor of the battle for Orunmilla, at one point the Thargoids had us overwhelmed with 6 Hydras but the great pilots at AXI teamed up and victory was achieved.
CMDR Samuel E, took part in defending the megaship, got absolutely decimated up there until i switched from a python to the trusty chieftain, love that thing to bits. o7 commanders.
we've just won Epsilon Eridani from the filthy goids. Linaweaver Landing had some of the most brutal attacks across the entire day, glad to have taken part in the majority of this battle.

@@Meanderthal17 if you're going against a hydra, don't worry if you keep on shooting and it just doesnt go down - hydras are incredibly tough and are not meant to be taken out by a single or even pair of cmdrs, you're sure as hell doing something, keep it up cmdr!
@@DanY-mj4gl Makes sense! last night I realized I can take down cyclops with relative ease, but hydras don't seem to go down unless we have like 5 people on em! And then they sometimes just go insanely faster than me and I cannot keep up with em. Been having a blast though!

Well, it suddenly became personal. As of now, countless Hydras and legions of their drones have fallen to us. Its time Humanity finally rid the Galaxy of this infestation once and for all

I felt the same, so I grabbed the krait mk ii ax prebuild and made just a couple modifications. Only engineered my lasers to lvl 3 since I realized I don't have the lvl 5 engineers unlocked. Luckily, of the few ships I do have, half of them are setup simply to farm engineering materials.

We would make a lot more progress of instances that can't coordinate against hydras just reset the cz. You can still earn the kill reward if you fly 70-93km from the cz. Just dont go farther or you 'leave' the cz itself. The hydras will despawn as long as everyone in that instance is beyond 70km and POOF: 💰

wish it wasnt so buggy tho i was helping the fight when thargoid hunter classes started clipping into the planet, a hydra dissapeared on my screen, i couldnt attack it but ig it couldnt attack me either but yet i saw several people firing at what looked like nothing. ships (both CMDR and thargoid) kept teleporting around and then occasionally i would just stop being able to do any damage no matter how much i shoot.
This success is only possible because I managed to hurt a Cyclops. It was limping when I tactically retreated with a broken canopy and it looked really scared of me, it kept ita distance while I was flying in the oposite dirction at 540. Anyway, that was CLEARLY the moment that set up all for success. Yes.

honestly, the thing im most "scared" off is that, after we win the war, what will happen to the anti thargoid content? we have weapons, modules, entire PREBUILT REAL MONEY SHIPS, based around thargoid combat. i dont think Frontier would just remove the entire reasson for their existance suddenly especially as AX content is relativly popular, but its frontier so we never know what they may do because they arent that smart at times.... like damned if you do damned if you dont kinda. if you dont remove the goids "what was the war for", if you do tremove the goids its "and what about all these tens of maybe hundreds of hours of Material grind, or ACTUAL real money???".. best i can imagine is the final titan either being destroeyd and NOT being the final titan, or the final titan takes a lot longer to wither down with maybe more attack waves
I'm an outsider but wouldn't they have systems they control outside of the bubble? If so, wouldn't they retreat to their own territory, stop invading, and then the endless fight goes to them? They just become another power like alliance/empire/fed, but one who has KOS for any visitors.

Been fighting in Wolf 359 and killed my first Hydra with my squad. Glory to mankind
I was there in Duamta and Orunmilla. Hydras are an intense way for me to get my first taste of thargoid fighting
Intense, but fun! I'm honestly not sure I'm actually doing anything but I'm certainly trying to stay in range and keep shooting!
