IIRC, the Thargoid race is much older than the Guardians were, which would mean that the Thargoid can't be the exiled Guardian offshoot. We also now know that the Thargoids and Guardians waged a massive war in the distant past, though that's not mentioned in this video for some reason. Personally, I'd love for the surviving Guardian AI to make a comeback! It would certainly change the course of the current Human/Thargoid conflict!
Even when I take time off from Elite I always keep up to date with your videos. I don't think I ever said how much I appreciate your passion and dedication. Thank you
Me too. With so many other games I play plus real life coming in to play I love the news reports. P. S. I totally agree that you (obsidian ant) should be making audio books. Excellent voice for it.
Elite is best played in bursts imo. I have been around since the pre-alpha and Play a few weeks every couple months, always fun to jump in and see what changed. Have my A Rated Conda so not too much else to do in the game but my deep space journeys every few months always draw me back in, and now I can bring a AI pilot with me, so yay! Just wish I could see them in the cockpit when not deployed.
If I can speculate for a second here. There is a possibility of 4 civilizations in the game now. Humans, the exiled Guardians, the machine AI, and the insectoid Thargoids. It would be very interesting to see if all this plays out in the game, hopefully in a quicker pace.
I wonder how, and if, these civilizations have all intermingled together? Whats the history between the Guardians and the Thargoids? Are those the only two intelligent civilizations in the galaxy? I love the ongoing lore with Elite, always something to check up on, something always breaking headlines. makes the game feel very alive!
Thargoids could be some sort of a biological AI that evolved from Guardians' technology. The fact that barnacles directly counter Unknown Artefacts also adds to the theory.
So from the sound of things It's likely that if there are ANY of the Guardians remaining in the galaxy, those most likely to have survived would be the exiles described before the beginning of the second civil war. I wonder if we will ever find them?
could it be that the 'thargoids' are the left over Automated Battle ships? if not, ive got this strong feeling we get 4 races in elite. Humans, Thargoids, Exiled Guardians, guardian ai...
@@allytank-itykitty7417 why am i constantly getting comments on year old comments from me haha it's insane xD yea sure. but i stopped hoping at the end of 2018.
Thanks OA..... you should be thankful that you have the free time to figure all this ED stuff out. You use that time well.... helping countless mere mortal players enjoy the game to the fullest! Thank you..... keep it up Commander!
The question that keeps wandering through my mind is not necessarily what they did, but what the looked like? Early human art showed form of the beings and their prey, being a predatory race, surely early "guardian" data would contain something similar?
Here's a thought, what if the Thargoids and the guardians are all a part of the same original species? It would make sense that the biological entities were at their cores, artificial intelligences. Additionally, their propensity toward biological engineering and biological warfare suggests that it is possible that they engineered their race into what is now the Thargoids, with a mix of biological engineering and then mixing that with artifical intelligence. Maybe the secret to meaningful communication with the Thargoids will be found in as yet unexplored guardian ruins...
Another point: *Could the alien ships we see be the automated battle-machines created by the Guardians* ? Left wondering witch-space for some reason, without a purpose, looking for their masters or their masters' enemies? (Reference: Entry 20)
Obsidian, thanks for keeping me company on my way to Colonia. So much more informative than Galnet for me. Frontier needs to hire you and add an on-board encyclopedia that you can listen to.
Why is there a stinging possibility that what we currently call Thargoids, i have a feeling those arent the Thargoids, but the guardians instead! Seeing as what is described pretty early on about the bioweapons and so forth, but a bioweapon could describe anything from gass to actually creatures created in a lab used for warfare. So what would stop them from creating the very organic ships that drop out CMDRs from witchspace.
Dianaranda123 i believe the bio ships are independant from those who cultivated them. i mean cultivated! its my opinion that the barnacles are going to be linked to the creation of those organic looking ships. if they are sentient, maybe they rejected the gaurdians who discovered them in the first place. im excited to see.
Thanks OA. That was great. I've read it but I picked up on much more listening to u read it. Do what are your thoughts about what this all means? I think the Guardians and the Thargoids are one and the same. I think the Thargoids are the cyberlinked, hive minded offshoot/exiles. I'm thinking the non-hive minded Guardians died out but their autonomous fleets can still be activated and could be dangerous. Remember in their early history they achieved peace through conquest. Let's hope they don't try the same.
The guardians rise and fall mirror a lot of Issac Asimov's work. This is very cool... and terrifying as it is a bit if a roadmap for human history(future historyL Ive only visited one site, but am gearing up my Krait to make another journey.
Great video, especially as I've not taken any of the time to do the monolith things yet. I have one question, what resolution was this shot in? Normally I watch these at work on my laptop or iPad, today though I'm home and when I made it fullscreen it actually filled up all of my 2560x1080 monitor and it made me really happy! This was the first online video to do that.
Cool video and interesting story frontier has created. But I have a question. Why are they called the guardians? Be interesting to see why. I wonder if it will be their AI machines protecting their dead worlds

Ant, is it possible that Brain trees have nothing to do with Thargoids but are in fact Guardian gardens, something like the Arisians in EE Doc Smith series 'Lensmen'?
This history story line SOUND a little like BATTLESTAR GALACTICA story line. Fleeing the cylon , the last Battlestar Galactica. Leading a rag tag fleet in a search for EARTH.
CMDR Terrorfirma The guardian technology vs the current unknown species show no sign they are linked, the guardians technology seems highly advanced, while the unknown species do not see as advanced or share any form of anything with the Guardians

Anandprimegames its always a good idea to get a type 6 to help with credits. i wasnt making much in bounties with my dbackscout but as soon as i added a trader i was able to supplement alot of creds. however trading sometimes = falling asleep halfway through my run and waking up plunging into some kind of horrible space death.
WOW, now THIS sounds like what we really can believe about the human race, and our history here on Earth, given what we fnd laying around, and the misc. things just hidden.
5:40 reminds me of right now my cousin helping with the research to genetically engineer a herpes virus that can attack cancerous cells and then die of through unsustainable mutation.
im going to call it and say the thargoids or w/e the alien ships we see where made somehow by the guardians. some genetically enhanced creatures gone wrong 'red dwarf' style. That essentially became their own evolving race.

ThePlaypox guardians used to develop bio weapons. thargoids ships are biological. you make the connection
ThePlaypox Those are exactly the questions that are going to be the key ones in the upcoming future, I feel.
CMDR Terrorfirma I was just wondering the same thing.
I think there are Humans as well.
Thargoids could be some sort of a biological AI that evolved from Guardians' technology. The fact that barnacles directly counter Unknown Artefacts also adds to the theory.
The Guardian's lore seems like a retelling of human natural history.
what if we ARE the exiled guardian...
This fits into some of the pre elite raxxla stuff a little

well, apparently half of them were red
