I absolutely LOVE this! I am planning my daughter's third birthday party and trying to do so on a budget. I'm going with a rainbow theme that way we can use up all our left over decorations from previous years (clever I know ha!). I knew I wanted to do something with popcorn because you can make a huge amount of it and feed a ton of people (50+) without breaking the bank. I was thinking of doing a self serve popcorn bar where guests can make their own trail mixes of sorts with different toppings, but that was already adding up. I decided to google "Can I dye popcorn?" to see if I could cut costs down even more but keep even more of a rainbow theme than the trail mix dealio. I came across your video and BAM! It was like a like a no-brainer! Will definitely be using this for my daughter's party!!
Use Jello to make and you will have color and flavor. Also put pop corn in a lunch bag and shake to distribute the color if needed can go in microwave to reheat.
I have a question . If you are only doing one colour , can u just add the food colouring into the pot that the syrup was in or do you have to put the syrup in a separate bowl and then add food colouring ???

It seems like there are easier ways to do this. You could easily make it the same way as kettle corn and just add food coloring. It would be much easier and not as messy.
i just made these and doing it your way made them soggy so instead i made small batches of the simple syrup added the color while hot then put in the popped corn and they came out perfect and crunchy
Seriously it's been third time I tried making caramel popcorn and the sugar syrup just gets crystalised. Every single video I watched make it look so easy yet I get disastrous results. I'm not a bad cook, so annoying I'm probably missing something.

GREAT IDEA TO COLOR IT, that way you can get it all over your fingers, mouth, couch, floor etc, White just seems to be too practical
