The whole theme of this song is that it starts off slow but very gradually builds in tension before erupting into full unadulterated chaos. This song was made to be metal.
This is the only path of this song. This is what it was fated to be. Metal is the true form of the Hall of the Mountain King. You are the chosen one that made it a reality. Thank you.
Yes
Exactly
@@siampayak8925 agreeeed
This and what apocalyptica did with it
Yeah, that riff always sounds like Slayer, maybe South of Heaven but faster
I will politely disagree as the pipe organ version is spectacular
Grieg would be proud. Maybe he wouldn't know what to do with metal music, but he would be proud.
Grieg is proud and rejoicing from his grave!
Classical music in metal form just slaps
Agreed
And metal songs redone with an orchestra are amazing too
Classic music is metal without electricity.
@@WexMajor82 yes
Saw somewhere this was the first Metal song ever written. Hearing it like this I believe it lol. Great job!!!
Rich, mountainous sound. Happy to hear the cover of a long favorite classic track
that one dislike is the virgin who has never considered classical music in a metal form
that one dislike is from the moron who's surprised that this isn't blues..
POV: my mom disliking the video:
nah honestly its probably a dad who just accidently pressed it with his finger instead of the like button
Any song that was composed for violin is gonna slap hard on electric guitar, any song designed for the electric guitar is gonna slap on violin. I don’t make the rules, but I will not hesitate to enforce them.
Have you heard of 2 Cellos? Listen to their cover of Thunderstruck.
This was so freaking beautiful I shed a tear!!!
It was only one and it was made of mercury
Mercury Tears sounds like a name for a metal band album.
@@teragram38crows49 i’m gonna look it up right now because if it’s not you should totally use it!!!
You shred a tear
Shredding Tears Of Mercury!
That’s so METAL!!
Grieg hearing this in the afterlife: “This sound, it’s beautiful!”
I had to search for a full 10 minutes before finally getting here. So some guy on roblox played this exact music and i asked him and said "hey what music is this?" He said "classical rock" so i searched on yt classical rock and i didnt find this music. So i had to go down a rabbit hole before finally finding a video from Maxemite and he left the original music name in his desc. I. Quickly searched it and found it was music but then i searched the exact thing with rock next to it and found this video. Thanks Maxemite.

Hello from Paris 💙🤍👍👍👍👍
This should have at least a few million views, I love it!
Amazing cover! Your use of a diminished sixth in the section between 0:29 and 0:46 is an incredible touch that really adds an additional sense of chaos and foreboding to a piece that is already one of the most widely renowned pieces for its sense of chaos and foreboding ever
The diminished sixth is already there in the original..
@@Stigmatix666 you’re right lol i meant diminished fifth
Hails from Norway. You would have made Grieg proud!
And blast beats, of course
Dimebag and Vinnie Paul, Jon and Chris Oliva, Malcolm and Angus and Eddie and Alex. I couldn’t pick just one set because I love them all.

Edeard Grieg literally just invented Slayer.

Wow u guitar good! Yay!
さいこう!!!
I don't know if this is the actual story... but I remember hearing it at some point when I was a kid... or maybe that's just how I imagined it...
But this was written in a way that would make it seem like someone found the mountain king, tried to steal some treasure, and the song starts as he steals, and then he gets chased, and then the chase gets faster and faster, until ultimately he gets caught and killed.
I could be wrong... but that's at least what I remember from 20 years ago
That's wrong. The song was originally written to accompany the play Peer Gynt, by Henrik Ibsen. The context is that the titular character, Peer Gynt, is up in the mountains when he meets the daughter of the mountain king, a powerful troll. Seeing his opportunity to become a prince, he courts the daughter, and is soon taken into the mountain for the actual marriage to take place. This song usually plays as he's taken inside, and culminates with him being led into the midst of the Mountain King's court, where the various trolls and goblins are very upset at him having seduced the princess, and suggest various ways to kill him. In some traditional versions of this song, you'll hear some wild shouting and shrieking. That would be the trolls shouting things like "Can we eat him?" or "Can we pull his hair out?", in the original language of the play, Norwegian.
this is such a metallica san diego 1992 moment (iykyk)
Listen to the full album from Savatage (1987)
Amazing stuff. Next could you do something by Schumann? Maybe something from Kreisleriana
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The party king!!!!!
I need a tab, and that backing, like hell
way better than my version . nice
If only another metal band had this idea in 1987......😅
Это афигенно! Для иностранцев: это очень круто
This sounds like it would be a song in the Dytopia album by megadeth.
Hail to Marcin J ...
what do you use for the drum patterns ? Trying to get realistic drum sounds like this for my music
For drums I stick to EZ Drummer with Metal Machine expansion since a very long time. But I write and customize everthing by hand, I don't really use included midi.
Is there any way to listen to this from your Spotify?
If i use this in an animation i won't be made fun of right? I MEAN THE NORMAL VERSION OF THIS SONG IS A MEME
most of Richie Blackmore's Deep Purple/Rainbow inspiration was classical based. All Metal is normal tunes played really fast and hard.
0:06
2:29
It had lyrics too. Something about a dragon kite
Sounds Like Slayer In Eb Tuning
The Oliva brothers would be proud
If I didn't know any better I would swear the drums are speeding up LOL
Play it in 1.25 its like a boss fight
To jest cover ostateczny.
If Grieg had an electric guitar, they'd rip the seats outta the auditorium and be skanking and moshing it up (like the dirty rotten imbecile in my Icon) 'til the whole joint just erupted into total fucking bedlam.
I heard Geezer Butler say that the song Black Sabbath was inspired by the Mars Suite from Holst's Planets. Seems like a lot of these dudes were straight-up metal, they just didn't have the electricity to amplify it.
Magic and Amazing👏👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤Kisses and Hugs from Buenos Aires Argentina!!!👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤💋💋💋💋💋🇦🇷😍
Can you give the tabs please?
Damn. 7 stringer.
This could have been on South of Heaven.
