  • 90157-1 is the combo gasket I prefer for carb engines.
93837 and 95647 is a good combo for efi engines. (includes upper plenum gasket)
The 93837 exhaust gasket can be used by itself for both intake and exhaust manifolds if say the exhaust manifolds were surfaced .040" and the tab thicknesses on the intake and exhaust manifolds are the same.
'If notching or machining the washers because of mismatch you cannot correct with gaskets, you only remove material on the washer that contacts the "high" tab, to parallel the washer to the intake/exhaust manifold mounting surface on the head.
The stud kit in the video with brass nuts is part number 600-3232.

There are other gaskets available that will work very well also, just make sure the washers are parallel with the manifold mounting surface on the head when everything is assembled. Use the same process with headers or log manifold.
'The reason the intake and exhaust manifold tab thicknesses differ, is because from the factory, no exhaust gasket is used, and a .040" intake gasket is used.
The E7 (1987 & up) exhaust manifolds I have are around .420" thick tabs, and the F5 (1995 & up) exhaust manifolds I have are around .410" thick tabs...always check things!'

I typically hand/wrist tighten through the tq sequence with a ratchet and then tq to 13'#s through the tq sequence and let it set for a few hours or overnight. Nothing is perfect, this allows time for the gasket to compress evenly. Then tq to 27'#s. Full warm up and at least 8 hours or overnight to cool down, then retorque.
