I was at the "Batman Begins" in the cinema back in 2005 and to be honest I left cinema disappointed then (the Dark Knight 3 years later was much better). But don't blame me, I've always been a huge fan of Burton's Batman's (Batman Returns in particular) and I was counting on a movie in a similar vein. At that time, I had not yet imagined a Batman in any other form.

Say what you want about Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, but the music was fantastic. Some of the puns were a bit too much, and of course Mr. Freeze is nowhere near as good as the animated series version, but I saw those movies as a kid and enjoyed them for what they were. There's also the Poison Ivy gorilla scene.

@Joseph Legrand I agree with you, except that Batman 1989 is better than The dark knight, with much better soundtrack (Danny Elfman(Batman march, the most famous music sheet of the hero, and Prince), better Batmobile, better Gotham City(not just a bunch of skycrappers), the Joker origins were like the comics, the suit and the portrait of Keaton was the most convincing(with a true Wayne, with doubts, feeling oppressed, dualistic, and did not a forced voice like Bale´s Batman), better suit(Keaton even had claustrophobic moments and couldn´t even hear some times), it was filmed during the winter (that gave a better dark atmosphere), the Joker was remarkable(taking into account that the last until that moment was the Romero's more comic one), and was Burton's Batman 1989 the one that marked a return to the roots of the character.

      @@kevin10001 I don't think so , i think you don't understand Batman
The Dark Knight trilogy is great in its own way why ?
      1) first movie Batman Begins ,it's the only chapter of this trilogy that really gives Batman a “hero’s journey.” Although its lengthy retelling of the Bat’s origin story impacts the movie’s rewatchability, Batman Begins closely follows the “monomyth” popularized by Joseph Campbell.
It doesn’t feel like it’s following a traditional structure, hitting all the beats we’ve come to expect, because it carves out its own niche. Christopher Nolan has a strong command of what makes his version of Batman tick, and that makes Batman Begins work.
      2) Christopher Nolan did a great job of bringing all the villains he adapted from the comics into the gritty, realistic world he created for Batman on the big screen. But the one that he really nailed - the one that has been praised as one of the greatest villains in movie history was the Joker in The Dark Knight.
      3) The Dark Knight Rises has the most epic scale of the trio. This is fitting, because the film’s story of an uprising in Gotham City was inspired by the French Revolution, a real-life epic.
From the opening aerial sequence to an attack on Gotham’s stock market, to the destruction of every bridge out of town and a court governed by anarchy that sentences people to march to their deaths across a frozen river, The Dark Knight Rises is, by far, the most epic entry in the trilogy.
4)As with any comic book movie, the entries in The Dark Knight trilogy each have an action-packed set piece to cap off their third acts. Each one escalated from the last. In the climax of Batman Begins, Batman battles Ra’s al Ghul on Gotham’s monorail system. In the climax of The Dark Knight, Batman strings up the Joker while Two-Face threatens Commissioner Gordon’s family and the passengers of two ferries are pitted against one another.
But in the climax of The Dark Knight Rises, Gotham’s criminals go to war with the city’s police, while Batman triumphantly returns to fight Bane and ends up sacrificing himself to save Gotham from a neutron bomb.
I know many people who are fans of batman form many years ,and who ADORE the nolan trilogy, So don't say that only people who can't understand batman would love the trilogy
      It's absurde and absolutley wrong.

I agree, except I would also add Batman Begins and Batman 1989 to that last. All four of these movies perfectly embody Batman. Yes, even Batman Forever did a great job. It brought the Silver Age to life in a modern 90’s fashion, and Kilmer was a great Batman.

    • @RShadow12
      @RShadow12 6 лет назад +6

philip kemp bell Batman Forever isn’t necessarily a “great film,” but it is a great Batman movie. It was based off of the lighter campier silver age Batman, but modernized in a 90’s Gotham. Val Kilmer also put on an AMAZING performance as Bruce and Batman. He brought a dark and phycological aspect to Bruce, he had the whole duality between Bruce and Bats down, and he looked the part. He also looked great as Batman, he had a great Conroy like voice, and had great fighting skills. This film was also very comic book accurate. Riddler’s origin as an employee was accurate and his motivation for knowledge was also accurate. Though Tommy’s Two Face was “over the top,” his origin where he got acid thrown on his face was accurate, and his obsession with “two” was also accurate. Lastly, they perfectly introduced Dick Grayson/Robin through a comic book accurate origin, and his team up with Bats was great. Elliot G’s soundtrack was also amazing. All in all, Forever is a great and underrated Batman movie.

Tempest Returns while it’s true he’s had problems working with others on many films, he wasn’t fired. Kilmer was commuted to another film around the time they did Batman & Robin, The Saint as previously mentioned by someone in the previous comments, and let Schumacher know he couldn’t be Batman at the last minute and thus, Joel looked around for another actor and saw a From Dusk Till Dawn poster, took it and drew the Batman mask over Clooney’s face and from that, he concluded Clooney would be great as Batman/Bruce Wayne because he’d look good in the cowl and suit. Not long after that, Schumacher called him up and Clooney accepted the role... I’m not even joking, that’s the real reason he chose Clooney. It’s all because he’d look good as Batman.

Nice ranking. I couldn't agree more! (Obviously only referring to the intros, of course)

Perfect ranking but i prefer Begins a little bit more due to including ACTUAL bats.

Agreed! Though I personally wouldn't go as far as to call The Dark Knight garbage, it's definitely overrated and cannot compete with the Keaton films, especially 1989

@milster Don't you dare bring Heat down to the level of The Dark Knight, Heat is a pure masterpiece. We will never have the pleasure of experiencing such perfection in future filmography ever again.

Bias opinion here, I was born in 1990 and in California. I loved the intro to Batman 89 because I thought it was amazing how they take you inside the bat logo as if it was a maze in the bat cave, that itself also reminded me of the Batman ride at 6 flags which was designed like 1989 Gotham and the same music. The intro and the ride both reminds me of eachother and nothing (except when the OG X-men movie song came on during 2014 DOFP intro) can get me as excited for a movie
