I have vivid memories of being 4 years old, wearing a blanket around my neck, and grabbing my dad by the collar of his shirt and going "I'm Batman" before jumping off the back of the couch. This movie was my freaking childhood!

@@gingerpaul5702 No, he was called Jack Napier before being reborn as Joker. In the Nolan films Bruce Wayne's parents were killed by a gangster runner called Joe Chill. I've personally always liked the symmetry of the Joker being responsible for Batman - and Batman being responsible for Napier's transformation.

Every time a new Batman soundtrack comes out I say to myself "this is definitively the best batman song I ever heard" ...and then I get to hear this track again and I immediately think to myself..."what was I thinking about?!"

I was 4 when Batman 1989 was rolled out.....this will always be Batman’s theme for me. To this day just hearing this gives me chills, I feel unstoppable when I listen to this.

He really is. No doubt. This is such a brilliant masterpiece.
You see, the Joker's waltz part DOES put a smile on everyone's face.
That transition at 2:59.....just phenomenal
I like how everyone on stage can't help but smile when they start playing the joker theme. Me too, I don't know what it is, it just makes you smile.
The smile on the artists face on stage where a result to an very short applause by people who thought the music was over.
In the televison-broadcast the sound was "cleaned from applause at the wrong moment".
The further more ongoing smile is related to play an waltz. Vienna is very popular in the world for creating so much waltz in the past. So the orchestra played a lot of waltz around the week - and they have a apecial relationship to that too.
But nevertheless the orchestra visible has joy to play the music at all - even / because as a waltz is somewhere hidden there.
Shows what a genius Elfman is. The Joker is supposed to make you smile while terrifying you :)
@@ulrichkrause1579I saw batman in concert yesterday. Same thing happened, applause was not the cause of it. Once the orchestra starting playing this, they all started smiling. It's just such a fun tune.

Ah, so glad The Waltz of Death is in this as well as The Penguin's Theme/Birth of a Penguin/Death of The Penguin. It wouldn't be a Burton Batman Melody without those great tracks

Elfman kicks as as a composer and frontman. This orchestra nailed it too.
I feel they should use this for every batman production. It resonates with The Batman.
WOW! This took me back to sitting in a theatre in Denver, Colorado in 1989. When that theme came up and hit the audience full on, we all stood and applauded! THIS was the Batman we'd been waiting for all our lives!
Danny Elfman work on the first two movies soundtracks was so damn strong no one's come close to topping it.
When I heard the first notes of this song, I instantly visualised the Warner Bros logo morphing into a police blimp with twin spotlights, like some inescapable Pavlovian reflex. Was that just me? Anyone else?
This Batman score is as iconic as Williams, Superman . Never again a superheroe film has a soundtrack of this quality and so representative of the main character it goes with.

Keaton, Nicholson and this magnificent score. How could you not love Tim Burton's Batman? Arguably the one that birthed the era of big budget superhero movies. Not perfect, just awesome.
I would say that Richard Donner's Superman showed it could be done and Tim Burton's Batman actually got the ball rolling.

I still can't fathom how Danny Elfman went from being the singer in a mediocre 80's band, writing about dead man's parties, and weird science, to a couple years later writing one of the most epic jaw dropping scores in the history of cinema.

The moment at 06:22 give me chills and gets me emotional everytime. It came from dark ambience to a glorius epic happy notes, much closer to Superman than Batman. Love it.

I think what impresses me most about this soundtrack is that I remember the exact moment, day and time I first heard/watched Batman. The epic music echoes like some of the great music by John Williams for the original trilogy of Star Wars; to the opening track of of building excitement to the deep melancholy to the masquerade ball to the intense impact of sudden clash of musical brutality as the score reaches its climax-ending with an inspirational score like the original Superman leaving one with anticipation and hope for the future. This soundtrack is one of the greatest of all time; not just for super hero genre but to me it is a musical masterpiece-- Mr. Elfman music still inspires us to this day.

This Is The Most Nestolgic Batman Theme Ever
Hearing this brings me back to my childhood. Seeing Batman in theaters in the 80's when I was 8 years old.
Absolutely the best Batman score.
I cry every time listening to this. It reminds me of how much I use to absolutely love batman and I would play lego bat man ALL the time and watched the animated series too.

We don’t know if it won’t. I doubt it will but he hasn’t formally said he wouldn’t use the theme.
Michael Giacchino is scoring the Matt Reeve's Batman and will surely create something awesome. If you're not familiar with his work definitely check it out!
We will get a new theme, something what uses hans zimmers and Danny elfmans theme I reckon, that's Michael Giacchino's style but don't be surprised if you do hear elements of this version and the dark Knight trilogy and possible arkham and BV S aswell as I said it's his way.
@@VickStarkiller Its Michael Giacchino, he will make his own theme but also use elements from previous to help make his own and may throw in nods other themes aswell.

One of my first movie scores that I got and have been collecting them ever since. When it comes to Danny Elfman....simply, a pure genius. I have been collecting every one of his scores since Batman.
I was a young teen in 1989, this was the best movie of my lifetime, at that moment. And this was the first movie that I knew of, at that time, with a soundtrack and a score. I bought the cassette of this score and listened the heck out of it!
Thank you Mr. Elfman for igniting my passion for movie scores.
