Nice. I want one, just not in fleet white. They look like great highway cruisers, like a bigger Crown Vic with more modern suspension and a lot more power. Really the only problems with these were GM's displacement on demand burning out the cams and parts having to come from Australia. I never understood the point of using a car that was only sold to police as an unmarked car. It looks like a bloated Impala, but if you know what it is you know it's probably a cop, at least before these started being sold off in big numbers. These were built in Australia by Holden. I heard a story that Holden only agreed to build the long wheelbase Caprices for GM-US if GM-US also imported 12,000 short wheelbase Commodores, which was GM badged as the Chevy SS. That's why the SS was a sales failure and GM basically ignored its existence and didn't advertise it: they only wanted to sell 12,000. They sold as many as they had to (12,860) and no more. Imagine if GM had actually tried to make rear-wheel-drive sedans great again. The SS was, by all accounts, a great sport sedan that could be optioned with a manual.
Not sure how anyone could mistake that for a Chevy Cruz. From the back, I can see it being mistaken for a ninth generation Chevy Impala. And it looks inoffensive and generic enough that it would just blend into traffic for most non-car enthusiasts. With those wheels and the white painted body, I'm sure many people would guess it is an ex-police car. Looks nice, modern, V8, rear wheel drive.
In Australia, the fake side vents on the fenders actually come with led repeater blinker’s in place. They are a really nice luxury barge in Australia. You got the stripped-back Povertly pack stateside.
@@markhealey9409 Yes, most definitely. In Australia, the Chevy SS was sold as a Holden commodore SS . Holden also made the Vauxhall Monaro vxr that Tiff needell really likes. ruclips.net/video/YG5PX587ydw/видео.htmlsi=W9Wn0iqQ11Z8mbGs
Interesting to see what changes were made too the Chevy. Wow so basic. It's like they took a Holden Statesman, badged it as a Caprice and stuck Commodore Omega interior in it. Also interesting it is column auto. I wish we could get them in Australia. If I had one I think I'd upgrade it and put the Holden Caprice interior in it though.
One issue with these is parts. I was considering buying one but apparently they’re not very reliable and are based on Holdens and never sold in the US a lot due to being above the budget of most municipalities, so repairs are expensive and parts are hard to find. But they’re super cool and total sleeper cars
Only parts hard to find are body parts, everything else engine, transmission and drive line is at every parts store in the US. This is the same platform as the Camaro (Zeta), so I can walk into any parts store and get just about any LS engine part, water pump, heater hose, Radiator, or as simple as brake pads. In addition, the 2011-2013 are based on the G8 and 2014 to 2017 are Chevy SS. I can also get a ton of LS engine parts as it is a LS based engine from Summit Racing or Texas Speed to delete the DOD/AFM. I have owned my 2011 Caprice for 9 years and never had a problem getting mechanical parts. But mine only has 58k miles, so little was done over a DOD/AFM delete kit I got from Texas Speed.
Funny over here In australia they are luxury with leather and all that.
The HSV grange we would love to have that version of that vehicle series 1 and 2 but alas GM eats dick 😢
America hates America 🇺🇸😑 why would they sell something so nice here.

The G8 had blinkers where the fake vents are too
So did The Holden made Chevy SS's & the Vauxhall VRX8 badged Holdens in the United Kingdom & Ireland.

This was a police car. That's why it's stripped down.
Outstanding review!

Boy do I want one now. Neat review! 👍
How can that American/Australian big V8 car be confused for a Chevy Cruise? It looks nothing like a Cruse.
U should do a tauras interceptor, and if u find an eco boost one even better
It’s kind a cool. Used cop cars are cool. Even though it’s really Australian, I also like big American cars.
China has these as Buick Park Avenue
I thought it was the Buick Royaum ?
Never seen these on the streets ever

This is an American car lol the mechanics are all here, cosmetic purposes yea you have to import
@@InternacionalBoxing it’s a rebadged Holden, however I think the engine/transmission in this are in several North American GM products

I am not sure calling this blue collar is actually that good history to call this given how much cops end up supporting bosses during strikes.
