Madness! Man, I haven't heard any songs from these guys in ages! They were on the radio a LOT when I was in the UK. That was such a groovy ska walking bassline. These are so good to practice stamina and endurance and to pump your pinky full of muscle. You made that look so easy, Thom. Super, super performance. One Step Beyond... Our House... in the middle of the street? HAHA sorry... I couldn't resist 🤣🤣🤣 BASS ON, BROTHER!!!!
Thanks so much Dani!! Funny, so many comments are saying how this song brings back memories. Same for me. Such a fun one to play and just to listen to. Thanks for watching!! Glad you enjoyed it.
Hi Thomas- another great cover. Would you consider doing a tutorial for the Waterboys Whole of the Moon. Has a great bass line but a wee bit tricky in places. Thanks Jonathan
Hi Jonathan. Thanks for watching. Oh right, I think you had requested this in the past as well. Sorry about that. I did give it a go a while ago, and found it tricky as well and then never finished working on it. I can look into it some more and try and get it down. Thanks for the suggestion.
Wouah !!!
Thank you so much Erwan! This song brings back a lot of memories for me as well. What a fun one to play. "Dirt?" That is my nickname when I play baseball. Thank you for the comment mon ami. 🙏🏻 And thanks for watching.
@@erwan700I am honored that you wanted to know more about me. 😂 Haha, I am hardly a star of baseball but it is my other passion and hobby besides the bass and music. And yes, my baseball nickname is “Dirt”. I play 19th century baseball, which means that my team plays by the rules of the 1860s and we wear historic uniforms and use historic equipment. Part of what we do is to educate baseball fans on the history of the game. But we also play competitively against other 19th century teams around the United States. My team, and I have been fortunate to be featured on news programs and television shows that feature baseball. I’ve been playing for 18 years and, like music, it keeps me young. 😊
A blast from the past there Thomas! Reminds me of school disco 😅 good bassline as are all of madness songs. Well played mate and thanks for rebooting the old memories!
Hey Neil! Thanks for the comment. Haha, yep, brings back a lot of memories for me as well. This was a fun one to play. Thanks for watching and for the support! I appreciate it. Cheers!
Hey Dan, thanks for the comment! I appreciate the support. Yeah, good eye and ear. It's simply triads/arpeggios/chord tones for Cm, Fm and G. A great example on how to use them to build a bass line. As for the Lakland DJ-4, I love it. The neck is just perfect. I did replace the pickups with Nordstrand humcancelling ones, simply because I don't like the noise from single coil pickups. But for me, this bass fits like a glove. I also have a Lakland 44-02 which you can see in my other videos. That's another sweet bass. Thanks for watching!
Thomas thanks for the reply , yes there great basses I'm looking at expanding my collection, great chanel you got here I will be watching all your vids, keep it up
