Star Wars Visions vs Marvel's What If - Creative Innovation and Stagnation

When thinking of animated anthology series released in the same year from two similar franchises struggling with the shared issue of creative stagnation, overreliance on nostalgia and a quality over quantity mindset leading to rushed, samey, content, two shows come to mind. Marvel's What If and Star Wars Visions both held promise to be the cure to a consistent issue both series have suffered from in recent years. There have been no shortage of complaints on Dinsey's interpretations of the legendary companies and their IP, specifically related to the "disneyfication" of them both. Being both animated and anthologies, I had hope that they would not only be the best and most original content both franchises have produced in quite some time, but kickstart a new era of Marvel and Star Wars content. Sadly, Marvel's What If simply didn't succeed in this aspect while Visions soared, and I want to explain why I think that's the case.
