Wow so much talent in one family. My family at Christmastime tries to sing Xmas songs....we so try. We have fun though. Thank you Tennille sisters! I loved seeing you all together on this episode. And I hope that you all keep on singin’!
Wow!!! I never saw this or heard the final version, but I worked on the music pre records on ALL but the first 3or 4 Shows at United Western on Sunset. I have nothing but love for both of them, Toni's sisters ( all the Dragons !!! ) and how they did their work /art. I worked setting up the big recording room with a BIG Hollywood show band every week. Then Roger Young and I would record everything with the great support from our maintenance department! Respects to J & J Barnes, Putnam, fisher, Ed Perry , Kulka, Boatner. Musical director was Lenny Stack ? All nighters mixing music tracks then, crack of dawn, we would hand off our work for the VIDEO pre record. Interestingly enough, I assisted for Dennis Dragon all weekend on a Johnny Rivers record in studio 3 . That is another story. Thank you for posting the video. Hello, Toni, if you're out there.
I had a huge thing for Toni back then, she was so beautiful and talented. I hadnt seen this and didnt know she had sisters, they are all beautiful. Love this.
This Beach Boys Christmas song is my FAVORITE holiday song "This Time Each Year" and I have to say that the Tennille Sisters do within 99.9% of the Boys version. Toni really nails Mike's bass inflection which gives it that Hook with a Nice Punch to it! As I remember, 1976 was about the time that "Beach Boys: Love You" came out and the voices (for the most part, not all) had changed an octave (or two) so it was refreshing to hear "L.S.N." done with bright harmonic voices. BTW, that last comment is in no way meant to disparage the album "Love You" as it has been one of my favorites from Brian and "da Boys" for well over 40+ years.😎
Indeed, indeed, indeed!!!!! Very few, I mean very few young men were not in love with Toni back In 1975! And she is still as vital , beautiful and gorgeous!!!!!
Back in 1972 Toni Tennille and the Captain, before they were married or had an act called Ythe Captain and Tennille, played keyboard and electric piano with The Beach Boys on tour and in the studio. Shortly after that they started their career together.
When Toni Tennille became famous she went around telling anyone who would listen that she was "the first and only 'Beach Girl'" and I have wondered why she isn't mentioned at all in the book, "Heroes and Villains: The True Story of the Beach Boys".
I just want to be part of this family. Wish I had sisters like that. Toni might not have had a loving husband but she was blessed in many areas of her life, particularly her sisters, niece, etc.
I like. Toni. And. Sisters. Singing. Little st Nick. Plus. Daryl. Playing. Keyboards. And bells. Are. Soo. Cool. Glad. To see. The four tennille. Girls. Together. On the captain. And Tennille. S. Show. In 1976. Pam johnson
The family is from Auburn, AL. True southern girls. After the Captain and Tennile had peaked and Toni was touring with symphony orchestras, I pitched Toni on the idea of “going country,’ much like Reba and Emmylou at the time, and Carrie Underwood today. Daryl, “the Captain,” was all for it, Toni balked. I guess we’ll never know if my suggestion would have worked.
OMG She's precious! Alabama accent just creeeeeps in when you're with family doesn't it?!!! They sound AWSESOME and the youngest is DEF a soprano haha!
I am Latino and I remember watching this show in English in A Spanking spoken country. The emotions raised inside of me wanted to be in America. What a beautiful America back then. Now the political is the Americans are racist. I wish they Will go to my country and experience what truly racism really is.
OMG around 3:05 there is a perfect sparkle off Toni's teeth! I didn't realize they had that kind of post-production capabilities in the 70's... or was it real?!
Wow, I actually remember when this originally aired. Wasn't it on ABC when it was a real network with stuff like American Bandstand versus the "They View"? :-)
I ve seen. The three. Younger tennille s on the captain and tennille s show back in the 70s when they were onabc pam Johnson a captain and tennille listener.
A very nice Gentile Christmas performance. Like Andy Williams, Bing Crosby, The Supremes, The Carpenters, Anne Murray, The Beach Boys, Paul Anka and Connie Francis, Bobby Goldsborough, The Smothers Brothers, and Glenn Campbell, Danny Thomas. You know when television was decent and classy.
Terrible news about Daryl Dragon & his tragic death from Kidney failure. I find it quite saddening that I was watching this song on their Christmas show DVD when I had found out the tragic news. This excellent cover of 'Little Saint Nick' by the Tennille sisters is my favorite part of the DVD - it is a huge shame that it was not released as a single back in Xmas 1976 - it would have been a no.1 hit). It was also heartwarming to hear that Toni was actually at Daryl's side at the very end (which shows that their love really did keep them together). I do hope that the Record & media company decides to release more episodes of C&T's variety show on DVD (I do have the boxset but it would be great see the remaining unreleased episodes including the pilot show etc). My thoughts are with Toni & both the Tennille & Dragon family at this tragic time. I know from reading her excellent autobiography that she truly loved Daryl (and I do believe that he felt the same about her despite him being sometimes awkward about showing his true feelings to her). I do hope for Daryl's sake that Toni finds the strength & courage to overcome this terrible loss..... Toni & Daryl 4 Ever :(
I watched the original airing of this quartet singing this......still enjoy listening, I'm 60 now!
GREAT JOB, hard to beat the Beach Boys! Well Done

I love this ! I am seeing all the sisters for the first time. I would say Lulu's looks are closer to Toni's.

hmm, all her sisters looked alrighty
They were definitely a reason to watch the show which always either tied second place or achieved a 3 way tie in the slot.
Toni is now 78 years old.
And the Captain never made it past 76.
I know right. She’s nearly 80. 😮
this was when Humans were real !!!
They should have been a touring group, holy smokes
