Amazing work! I’m really new to modeling and just got this one as my second adult build. I built many as a child, but 25 years later I’m ready for the challenge and this video was very informative.
Please forgive the late response. Thank you for your comment! This can be a challenging kit. Mine had some fit issues but others mentioned no problems. Welcome back to the modeling bench! I wish you the best of luck on your build and I am pleased this video may be useful to you. Best wishes!
Hey, solid work, I have this kit in my stash and put it on the back burner for awhile. I’ve found a lot of flashing, rough molds and poor fit. Your build vid will be a future help. Thanks for posting. Looks really good.
Thank you for the comment. The kit really surprised me when I started building it as to how many gaps and fit problems I encountered. I guess it just depends on if you get an early casting or a later one. Some say they have no fit issues or gaps and others have the same issues I had. It's just strange how that works. I hope the video is of help to you on your build and I wish you the best of luck. Thanks again for watching the video and for your comment. Best wishes!
Thank you for your comment! The pastels are a quick and easy to get various shades, especially on panel lines. I'm still not too happy with the way the nose art came out. I probably should have used a different background color. Thanks again for watching the video and for your comment. Best Wishes!

I really enjoyed your video and the way you pointed out the kit’s issues and your work methodology. It turned out very good, IMO. Your weathering looks effective and balanced. Interesting your white glue and acrylic paint mix to fill in the gaps. I usually employ acrylic putty to address gaps, as it can be removed with water to avoid sanding, but I will try your method too! I started to build the same kit but in its Monogram box. I’ve not stated dry fitting it yet, so I do not know if the gaps will be the same as those you encountered but I’ll let you know. I subscribed. Keep on modeling! Greetings from Italy!
Hey! Thanks for your comment, It is highly appreciated. It appears that we may have both come across something new. I have not ever tried acrylic putty for gap filling. I will definitely look into this technique. I have heard some that build this kit do not encounter the gaps and others do. I suppose it has to do with when the kit was cast. Thank you for watching the video and for sharing the acrylic putty method. I'm excited to give it a go! Best wishes on your project and thanks again! M from the Great State of Texas!

Thank you! I appreciate your comment on my build. So far, I have seen mixed replies on the gap issue I had with my kit. Some have mentioned that they had absolutely no gap issues and others have said that the have had the same as I did. I really think it boils down to when the kit was cast. This is an old kit and I guess it is possible to get a kit that was produced early and the molds were new verses an older production and the molds are worn out. Based on what I have learned, it is a 50 / 50 shot at getting an early production kit or a late production. Stores like Hobby Lobby will more than likely have the later production run kit, which means the model would be cast in the old molds. This is the only explanation as to why some builders have no gap issues and others do. Other companies make this kit in 1/48 scale and have a superior casting, but at a higher cost. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment! I seems you got a poor casting like I did. Well, to be perfectly honest, I don't use those references when I build. I never even looked. I use Vellejo Model Color paints mostly on everything and those paints are usually not called out in the directions, and I'm too lazy to cross-reference the colors. Hello! Thanks for the comment. I used Vallejo "Model Color" brand acrylic paints on this model. If memory serves, Olive Drab (70887) and Sky Gray (70989) I'm not absolutely positive but that is close. Of course, I also mix colors to get different shades but those are the base colors I'm pretty sure. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching the video and for your comment,. Best wishes!
Hey! Thanks for the comment and for watching the video. I agree with your assessment of this kit. I think my comments at the start of the video may have been somewhat too hard considering the age of the kit, as you mentioned. It still turned out fairly well, all things considered. I still wish I did better on the nose art! Thanks again and best wishes!
Thank you for your comment and for watching the video. I purchased this kit as I wanted a simple build that wouldn't take a bunch of extra work. I just wanted a good weekend build. I got more than I bargained for and almost scrapped the project. All things considered it turned out okay. Thanks for the comment once again and best wishes!
Well, the B-25 was painted several different ways but I believe you want to duplicate the colors I used on this build. I use Model Color acrylic paint by Vallejo. The upper surfaces were painted OD green (Olive Drab) and the bottom was painted sky gray. The interior color was a mix of yellow and green to get a zinc chromate color. The other colors are flat black, silver, white, etc. Just standard colors. I hope this was helpful. Thanks for your comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!
I suspect that nose weight will be required to have the model set on the nose gear. My model took a lot of weight, so much I decided to glue it to the base and not worry about a lot of nose weight. You will have to decide what works best for your application. Good luck on your build and thank you for your comment and for watching the video,
Great video, I have the Monogram Promodeler version but looks to be identical to the Revell you did. I want to use this as practice for other B-25 builds…appreciate the warnings for the fit issues. Did you try any spru-glue for the gaps? Appears that might help minimize the sanding detail loss…Thanks again, great dry brushing too!
Thank you for your comment. I have never even heard of spru-glue! I'll need to look that one up, thanks for the tip! Dry brushing is absolutely magic for bring out details. I don't build any models without using that technique. Thank you for watching the video. Good luck on your project and best wishes!
Thank you for your comment and for watching the video. There is absolutely nothing wrong with brush painting. In fact, it is a long lost art since airbrushing has come along. Great results can be achieved with a brush and no obvious brush marks left. The key for me is in how fast the paint dries on large coverage areas. For fuselages, wings etc. I like a thinner paint mixed with a retarder to keep the paint wet as it is applied. This allows the paint to blend in and eliminate brush strokes. Best of luck on your build and thank you again for your comment. Best wishes!
Yes, I had the same issue and I suspect all these kits will too. There are three solutions I know of to correct this problem. 1) Nose weights, and it will take more weight than I would want to install on a plastic nose gear. 2) Glue the model down on a display such as what I chose to do. 3) Support the tail with a clear plastic prop or the ladder. Thanks for your comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!
Thank you for the comment. I often try to break up the paint on models by throwing in a different shade of color on various panels. I think it gives the model a more realistic look. That, of course, is debatable depending on who you talk to. Thank you for watching the video and once again for your comment. Best wishes!
Sorry for the late response! The nose art was made using the Testor Decal Maker Kit. You can find these kits at Hobby Lobby and your local hobby shop. It works with an ink jet printer. Just select your artwork, size it appropriately for the scale and print it on the decal film. The kit comes with a spray to affix your image to the decal film. After the decal is dry, you cut it out and apply it like any other waterslide decal. Thank you for the comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!
I'm interested in making my own decals, and yours look great. What are you using for white paper & which printer? I'm building the Pro Modeler version & it has the same gaps as yours.
Thanks for the comment. I used the white Testor decal creator for the nose art. The bad thing is the background. There was no way to get just the image I wanted so I had to add a background color. I made an oversized background and cut it out the way I thought it would look good. I tried to match the color of the A/C but it was never perfect and the area that crossed the demarcation line was still an issue. I'm still not pleased with the result but it was the best I could do. I'm still learning how to use white decal paper. The gaps are definitely a pain to deal with. Good luck on your model and thank you for watching my video!.
First off, thanks for watching and for your comment! I simply do not have an explanation as to why I had so many gap issues. The kit has been out for years and it is possible that there are still early castings floating around. Perhaps, as I mentioned in the video, I just got a poor casting. It is obvious that a couple of parts did not get fully cast in my kit. No matter the reason, it is what it is and I dealt with the gaps as best as possible. The model is by no means contest material, but it was fun to build and that is what counts! Thank you again for the comment and for watching my video. Best wishes!
Thank you for your comment. Yes, I do use an airbrush, but I also utilize a paint brush as well. All the large surface areas are painted with an airbrush. I will go over areas like panels and control surfaces with a brush. I apply a slightly darker shade or lighter shade with the brush. The paint is well diluted so that it will dry without showing brush strokes. Thanks again for the comment and for watching the video. Best wishes from Texas!
The sky is the limit when I consider a model. Nothing is off limits. I have a video that I was working on covering the construction and lighting of the 1/350 scale Starship Enterprise re-fit. There are so many photos of this build I got burned out and never finished it. The video was way too long and I did not think there would be any interest in this build. After all, there are so many videos out there on this subject. My other Sci-Fi / fantasy videos are only getting marginal views. BUT, since you seem to have an interest, I will get that video out as soon as I can. I will probably be in several parts to keep running time down to around 15 minutes or so. Thank you for you comments, suggestions and for watching the video! Best wishes!
(I hope I got my translation right!)
Thank you for your comments, I sincerely appreciate them. I normally do not do figures for aircraft but since this model was going to be mounted on a base, I figured (no pun intended) to go ahead and include them. Truth be told, I do not like painting figures. I got lucky when photographing the model outdoors, the wind did a good job of simulating the props turning. Some of the photos actually look fairly nice with the props spinning. (IMO) Thank you again for watching the video and for your comments. Best wishes!
I'm not sure of what your are referring to in your comment. The wing fit was not perfect. I really do not remember an issue with the main gear. Please provide more detail and I can better address your comment. Thank you for your comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!
You mention "weights" to keep the nose down, but you don't say or show what / how much / where you added weights. I am building this kit now (January 2024) and this is a BIG challenge for this tail-heavy airplane.
Yes, it is a very tail heavy model. I added weight to the nacelles, in the cockpit and anywhere else I could to get the model to set on the nose gear. I never succeeded. I was also afraid that if I added enough weight to get it to set properly, the weight would eventually warp the gear. I ended up taking out all the weights and glued the model to the display base. I you don't want to glue it down, my suggestion would be to use a clear plastic tail support. You may have better luck adding weights than I had. I wish you the best of luck with your build. But it is a darn tail heavy model. Thank you for your comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!
I have heard a mix of replies on the fit of this model. Some say no issues at all and some have the same as I encountered. I have to agree with your assessment, it must be the result of old molds being used countless times. Thank you for your comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!
Thank you! I appreciate the comment and thank you for watching the video! I spent more time on this model than I thought I would. I was really surprised by how poorly some of the parts fit. In the video you can see how the canopy windows don't line up perfectly with the fuselage. I would have been upset if I had spent more money on this kit but, I guess you get what you pay for! All in all, it wasn't a bad kit, and maybe I'm just too hard on a kit that was produced in 1977. Best wishes!
Wow! For that price you can't go wrong. I hope your kit doesn't have the same issues I encountered with mine. Best of luck on your build and thank you for watching the video and leaving a comment!

(I hope I got my translation right!)
Fantastic job on an old kit. You captured the right look, and your figures are very nice also. Are those props powered?
Thank you for your comments, I sincerely appreciate them. I normally do not do figures for aircraft but since this model was going to be mounted on a base, I figured (no pun intended) to go ahead and include them. Truth be told, I do not like painting figures. I got lucky when photographing the model outdoors, the wind did a good job of simulating the props turning. Some of the photos actually look fairly nice with the props spinning. (IMO) Thank you again for watching the video and for your comments. Best wishes!
Spectabulous !!
Hey! Thanks a lot for the comment, and for watching the video!
Wonderful
Thank you! I appreciate your comment and thanks for watching the video. Best wishes!
Wing fit:same main landing gear struts..oh man😢
I'm not sure of what your are referring to in your comment. The wing fit was not perfect. I really do not remember an issue with the main gear. Please provide more detail and I can better address your comment. Thank you for your comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!
very helpful!
I am happy to hear the video is helping. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
I'm running into the same problem with the nose sticking up.
I actually made a a scene with the plane actually taking off.
Bravo!
Thank you! I appreciate the comment. Best wishes!
I got one over 40 years ago, and it was fine. Probably old mold.
I have heard a mix of replies on the fit of this model. Some say no issues at all and some have the same as I encountered. I have to agree with your assessment, it must be the result of old molds being used countless times. Thank you for your comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!
epic!
Best wishes!
sometimes i have to meditate before construction....
I never considered doing that, you might be on to something! Thanks for the comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!
I just bought this kit for $5 at a flea market
Wow! For that price you can't go wrong. I hope your kit doesn't have the same issues I encountered with mine. Best of luck on your build and thank you for watching the video and leaving a comment!

Thanks, I hope you enjoyed the video. Best wishes!
Cut out the noise!
I guess by "noise" you are referring to the background music? It is probably a little too much I must admit. But, I appreciate your comment and thanks for watching, even if you had to wear ear plugs! Best wishes!
NICE job,
Thank you! I'll be honest, it turn out better than I thought it would with all the gaps and warped parts. But the main thing is to have fun with a build, and I did do that! Thank you for your comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!
