For anyone here that hasnt played the game yet, I have been testing for quite a while. I very much enjoy the game, there is a strong foundation built. Early Acess to the game begins in Dec 2024. It will be most classes and races, leveling to 40 with content to match. It will be opened to all pledges, regardleas of pledge teir. That means for $50, you get access to EA and the game when it launches. If you have even the slighest bit of interest in the game, its well worth the pledge. Looking forward to EA and having new folks join th4 community.
@@Shadowthevampire well yes of course. My point is that pledging now for 50 bucks is likely a much better decision than simply paying money for EA in whatever format they choose for simply EA access.
I just got EA and I'm pretty excited. I was a big Everquest player from 1999 onwards. I appreciate you making this video to help "re-align" my thinking from current MMOs like WoW (Easy quest finding, no death penalties) back to this mindspace. It appears you are just starting to make videos for this, but I have subscribed and hope your content creation goes great! Good Luck!
Wish this was around a couple of months ago when I first got to try this game. Tried to play it for like an hour but all this basic info was crazy to figure out at the time. It would take too long and not worth my limited time to try to research and learn a game especially when I only had a limited time to play it. So I ended up giving up and waiting for game release to play.
I think this is a great video to be made just before EA. Love the game definitely no hand holding no maps. It's in development and players now and in EA will essentially be testers. There is a learning curve but there is the player base in game that are non toxic and very helpful, It's one of the things I love the most. So many games World chat is just filled with attitude and negativity. This game has a lot of helpful and kind people that help out new players. Subscribed hope you make more videos for beginners. I think it will really help a lot of people out.
I loved this short and informational video. I'm planning on jumping in as soon as I can and I will be trying to send you a friend request in game (assuming I remember) ... also Ignore my Icon. That ghost doesn't speak for me.
Just my opinion but absolutely. I've been playing during Champion sessions since May and the game is very addictive. I like doing EVERYTHING. All the gathering and crafting I can, all the quests, exploring every nook and cranny, crawling into all the various dangerous dungeons in search of treasure, making friends and mini raids. The game hasn't even officially released yet and I already feel like I've gotten my money's worth! Definitely worth the $50 pledge to dip your toes in!
Where did you go to find the cooking trainer... you just cut to it so I couldn't see which house. And can I learn cooking if I already learned outfitter and alchemy as my two professions?
A bit has changed since I made this video. Originally we were allowed to do all tradeskills, that's changed now and you can only pick two so you have to give your tokens just to the two you want to do. Cooking (Provisioner) is considered its own tradeskill and requires a token. The cooking npc was moved to a different building. If you go out the backdoor of the building that houses 'The Treasure Hunter" npc, he's now in a house just slightly to the right and up the hill.
A dozen MMOs have crossed my keyboard since 1999. EQ, WoW, AOC, Aion...more and more. No game--repeat--*no game* have I played that filled me with such fear as EQ. Moving through Lower Guk to join a group, watching my invis spell wearing off, knowing if the frogs see me, I am dead and the group cannot come to my help. Corpse run would be a nightmare! *OH THANK GOD THEY DIDN'T SEE ME!* The absolute terror of crossing Kithicor Forest at night. I still have PTSD. And making it back to my home city (Qeynos), and the *profound* feeling of relief. I made it. I'm safe. Why do devs not understand this is what we want? Sure, do a quest at level 5 and get a full epic set. Be one of 10,000 others with your flaming sword and armor of levitation. ...or... Plead with a raid to allow you to tag along. All you want is the NO DROP guts from the end boss dragon for your bard's epic weapon. You'll play your heart out. You won't ask for anything else. Please, please, please! Let Pantheon be this!
Rare loot is uber rare but it isn't all that identifiable yet (outside of purple rogue daggers) and no, you're not getting anything good from quests save for one or two lesser items. The game can be dangerous AF, especially at night, and especially deep in the dungeons, which makes dungeon crawls fun and stressful at the same time which is what we liked right? :) But CR's are a thing (thankfully not naked but if you want your exp, bags and money back...) and death penalties hurt so yeah, you're gonna love it! :P
@@Sk1ndredd You ‘can’ solo (some classes better than others) but the exp is pretty poor (ala EverQuest in the old days.) It’s easier in the lower levels, there can be considerable down time after like level 20. Quests are pretty dependent on group content but crafting quests you could do for sure. Farming crafting mats is always a good use of an hour!
Yeah, at least you don't really need to talk, you just need to be able to listen because some mobs require a ton of interrupts (to keep from complete healing or aoe'ing etc) and since most classes' interrupts have cool downs, they usually have to be done by turns. That's the main reason, plus sometimes when splitting camps different people will need to target different mobs and it's easier to communicate all that by voice. It's pretty complicated in that regard yeah.
@@David-x7g5v I remember hating it back when TeamSpeak became a thing like three years into EQ, because I could never get it to work right and it would lock my computer up. :/
Beginner Smelting schematics come free from the armorer if you take his first few quests, or you can buy it from the toolcrafting vendor. The game tends to automatically put asherite in before casperlite (sp?) in the smelter, but you can smelt both, you just have to click the casperlite in.
There's grass, I'm playing on a low setting here. In retrospect, I should have made the video in high settings but I was used to playing this way. I guess I care a lot less about the graphics then most people, hell, I love playing Muck and that's just like stick figures lol. I just want a fun game where I can make lasting friendships and that I have here. :)
why just not play EQ? it is exactly the same game, except it is early alpha, bugged, less than half finished, minus 25 years of content I am dumbfounded by the state of this early access, it was sold to me as a modern EQ but it is absolutely not, it is the same EQ 25 years later this is true gaming necromancy, resurrecting a nearly extinct game, but is only a shadow of it former self
Some people wanted something new and different but still with the same core values, (ie; community based, group intensive, etc.) For them, this game has been great fun, enough that they've populated 20 servers and given strongly positive reviews on steam. I love it. But you can't please everyone, it's impossible. Unfortunately you're someone who doesn't like the game. And yes, luckily you can just go back to EQ. I've bought many a game and discovered I didn't like it. We live and learn. :)

Jodi, you're the bomb. This is the most niche subject and yet here you are delivering exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
Great Video! :) featuring it on the rewind this week :)
