Wanted to add that the new races Elf and Halfing start in a whole new area. I know nothing about this new area other than they say its a 40 minute run to get to the other race starting area that I show in this video.
I missed out on all those years of early support, still playing EQ off and on at the time I think and otherwise busy elsewhere, though wish to have given support back then, alas
At first I did not like missing a map but then one day later, I actually love it because you memorize it and then it's a sense of exploring each new zone. If they ever do a map, I hope it stays blank.
I feel like it matters where you start. Wilds end or whatever, is a very hard zone to come up in. For me, lots of dying and losing my corpse completely. That is heartbreaking as a new player personally.
OMG I had no idea about the bags inside the bank, also i bought the crafting tools before picking up the quests i thought i had to have tools in my bags while eqipted im only now realizing the quest gave me the tools!!! TYVM
A little tip if you're just starting out is to kill any foragers you see, like the one who walks past at 16:12 , as they have a good chance to drop bags which you are going to need to increase your storage space
This game looked like dogshit from the outside, but I saw the very positive reviews on steam and rising player count so decided to give it a try. I grew up on Classic WoW in TBC and have played a lot of vanilla, and have played EQ2 and many other MMOs but missed out on EQ1 so this seems like a good way to get more modern feel of that. Loving the game so far, I have been extremely surprised with what they have here and hope to see it continue.
Thanks for the review and help for those that need it. Looks like a great game but heard it will reset several times before it’s fully released, will wait for it then in a few years.
start with a human or a dwarf first, their starting areas is well fleshed out. The elves and halflings are down in the south of map, very far away. The evil races are in a horrible cave.
@@kearseymorton2078 well good. because this game is complete dog shit right now. so release it will be fleshed out. 10 years and 10 years worth of backers and yall get this shit LMAO
He didnt cover in thiw video how to con mobs. You con mobs by targeted it and pressing c. Also if you see a mob with a chevron arrow. Those are for groups! But if you're mean enough, they can be soloed! I solo white con chevrons with my main
0:54 Potential is made up of hopes and dreams. Hopes and dreams cant feed you for long before you starve and feel betrayed by those hopes and dreams. I am gonna let it cook for a while longer. It was in the oven for far too long and still couldnt prouce anything worth my trust.
How do I tell what my ping is in game? I selected a server with a blue quarter circle assuming that was latency. I cannot play today and I keep dying while my character doesn’t do anything.
Are there more mages than warriors? Is there a large disparity in population between the two? I assume there will be a point where finding parties is the only/best way forward so I would like to pick something useful class wise. I don't want a ff14 thing where finding a party or whatever for dungeons as a dps for instance takes a few mins, but healer is nearly instant. What have been your observations? I'm kind of getting to that annoyed point of my current MMO.
Yes, it is a group game. Although solo'ing is more viable than I would like it to be. Just like any Trinity system Tank > Healer > CC > DPS. As most play DPS. If you do play tank I would recommend Pally > War > DK right now. For healer Shaman > Cleric but both are good. DPS im still trying to work out an order. So far all seem pretty balanced. Of course your server may vary. The /who will show you ALL players so ez to get a vibe of whats online at what level.
I played EQ since the start, but holy shit this game needs to fix the starting zones. It's bad when you need to watch a video to just learn a city. Wilds End no idea how to get back to the Shaman trainer.
I was about to delete your comment then I remembered what you are talking about, lol. For real, sometimes I wish I was simply for more options plus bros are cool af and would make great partners but that is simply not how I am built. Adam likes Eves and only Eves..built in my bones as far back as I have memories.
The pitiful development cycle on this game is going to kill it. 90÷ of the google search results are abandoned sites with very outdated information. Found 4 sites that are on the first page results and haven't been updated in 3-5 years! I get that it has die-hard fans (that can be quite toxic with any negativity towards the game) but new people who aren't die hard fans and haven't followed this thing for years can't be expected to have the same... "Love" for it?
@@THEGAMEIS When a quest description provides zero clues where to go. We're fine with no markers, but when it says "Go talk to Steve" ... and doesn't even say which town or direction. Skills and what they impact (like what does summoning skill actually do?) The mastery points/system. Trying to figure out if they are even implemented or not (eventually figured that out). Trying to figure out looting in groups. It was supposed to be "round robin"? But in a group of 6, vast majority of clicks on corpses would say the same player? After ~2 hours of farming skeletons, I walked away with 4 bone fragments and maybe 50 copper or something?
Mastery points are not in the game yet. They disabled them a few months ago iirc while they build them. Questing... this is what the base wants. They dont want hand held follow the dots on the map WoW style quest. You have to find it out yourself or ask someone. Skill descriptions are still being worked on. If you look at the spell / skill vendors you will clearly see some are total incorrect. This is a VERY early access release of a niche old school type MMO. It wont be ready for years and even then Ready may not like of to many of the players of today. I should make a video clearly outlining the expectations of this game. Might help people decide.
@@THEGAMEIS Yeah for sure, I think a lot of people who have fond memories of EQ1 days, likely never got into "modern" games, are making this game sound like it's amazing... But when people come into it with a fresh set of eyes, no "fond memories" of EQ1 days, they are going to be in for a very poor experience. As for the questing, sorry if I didn't make it clear, I wasn't asking for or expecting hand holding or dotted lines. I was asking for the text to actually be useful. So many of the quests say "kill X enemy" but give no clues as to where it can be found. So many of the quests just say "do this thing" but don't provide even a tiny hint as to where that thing is. THAT needs to be fixed. Otherwise, the entire player base is going to be forced to use 3rd party sites which defeats the entire purpose of keeping it "a secret" in the game.
I’m not sure if you understand, but not having features like that is a plus for most of the players here. They want something similar to old EverQuest, which didn’t really have these things.
Its a small game for sure but it is far from dead. It is hitting new peaks every day, meaning an upward trend since its launch. steamcharts.com/app/3107230 The server i'm on is full half the day and they need to add a third instance. The most popular server has four instances and all are full during prime time.
Red on servers means high pop. Meaning if you want to fight over mobs, as a group, you will run out of mobs to level off of. Some servers are super over populated.
The graphics are meh. Not bad overall but yeah. Not the best. Also runs like a hog. I only get 120fps on a pretty decent rig. But the mechanics are there. The design is in a good direction. That is what I look for much more than graphics.

Its closer to a 2 hour run if you don't know the way. 1 hour and change if you do.
Just mute their music and play an endless loop of the EverQuest theme in the background. Auto run and OOC chat the whole way!
They just added Wizard Teleports to the game connecting the two areas!
@BlackMetalChauvinist lol if there weren't a hundred mobs that would one shot a level 10 player along the way sure.
@@louhodo5761 That's just part of the charm!
I was/am a VIP member and never really played it since they changed the visuals but I am now playing early access and loving it.

Good tip! Maybe I should make a Tips and Tricks video.
thanks very helpful especially the bonus map. Only thing I could of added so far is "X" to rest
I change my keybinds around. I use F to reset.

I think F11 or F10 shows ping and FPS
The circles show how full the server is. The ping/latency should be based on your region. I'm on East Coast and on the East servers I get 11ms ping.

Wilds End is not very optimized yet. I would not recommend starting there your 1st character.
Do you think the UI Will get updated eventually or will stay this way? I know it aims for retro, but the UI/UX hurts my soul
Jappa says the UI will be updated in the future
Its all gonna get better over time.
"i am level 7 mastery, how do i use it?"
"oh yea its bugged and not in the game yet"
the game
Correcto. Mastery is not in the game yet. Still in development.
Interesting game I never played EverQuest went with a summoner 🤷
Thanks for the sub!
When will full release come out?
ETA 2 years. Maybe 5?
By then it'll be 13 to 15 years of development for this garbage. Just play EQ. It's much better
I'm trying to place your accent mate? Where are you from?
I think he might be from Earth, sounds like it to me.
From a few places on the east coast USA. A lot of things in my life influenced my speaking so It is a bit unique in some ways.
Why is bard there?
That thumb nail is the devs race and class chart. Some of the races and class are not created yet. Like Bard.
