Are you a guitarist, just wondering, I've been at it for 38years, started at 12,,,,I love the old hairbands still rocking out to SKID ROW, POISON,WARRENT,LOL
Why are people bagging Jack Black so hard in the comments, wtf? His whole shtick is being like, a parody-metalhead but whos still actually good, how do you people not know this? I love both Zappa and Tenacious D because they crack me up, by the way. Humor belongs in music.
***** I disagree. Dweezil is really conventional as a guitarist, and while he may have more graceful technique than Frank did, he has no where near the improvisational ability of Frank. Frank's knowledge of theory, harmonic concepts, and risk-taking as an improviser are unmatched by Dweezil. I think Dweezil is really a talented guitarist, but his dad was far more innovative. Dweezil sounds like basically any 80's shredder whereas Frank sounds like...well Frank.
***** He's absolutely a better player than 80's shredders, but Dweezil has been the first one to admit on numerous occasions that his primary influences were...80's shredders. Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Steve Vai, etc. And you can definitely hear that stylistic influence in Dweezil's playing. He uses 80's shredder "tricks" like tremelo picking pentatonic scales and Van Halen-like tapping. He's certainly capable of more though. You're right about his playing Frank's music. I saw Zappa Plays Zappa in July 2007 and his playing was flawless. Unlike his dad though, Dweezil seems to prefer learning a part, perfecting it and sticking to it. He's not very adventurous as an improviser or soloist. I think of Dweezil similar to how Frank viewed Vai- a "stunt guitarist". Dweezil learning the fast suptuplets from Inca Roads on guitar is pretty impressive, I'll admit.
When your dad's one of the best guitarists to have lived, and is teaching you to play along, with folks like steve vai. you're probably going to end up being pretty good.
@Keith Long Brad was my favorite Ozzy guitarist after Randy. Sick player. I actually prefer Brad's take on Sabbath over Randy. Randy hated Sabbath so it makes sense he kinda got sloppy (for Randy) on those old tunes.
Nothing better than listening to a cool video, and reading the comments from cluelss internet poopsticks proclaiming 'it sucks'. You all gargle mayonnaise.
@@steveplease So, just like when y'all say cootin and wooten (for couldn't and wouldn't), pundint (for pundit), foyer (right from the French....foy-ay), and many others.
Dweezil has matured into a unbelievably fantastic musician who plays guitar; i agree early on he was a boring jukebox of shredder licks, his journey into his fathers stylings has created this amalgamation of one of the finest guitar heroes we have today. I too first thought his lack of stage antics was lacking, but now I really like his calm character and I feel he paradoxically has stage presence because of it, because he lets his guitar do the talking. Bravo Dweezil
Martin Rauch I know I'm late for this comment section I can't name one guitarist who can replicate Frank's guitar solos and not to mention his stage presence
Jack black is great and I think he did a wonderful job for being "on the spot." He's a jokester, but he definitely has vocal talent hiding underneath all that.
Dweezil is having a blast here. Everyone knows what he is able to do and what he does, playing covers with a comedian is no big deal. He also nailed that solo to the wall.
Been watching Dweezil videos lately and the guy is just a monster guitar player. Dude can play anything... and it's effortless. Should be mentioned among the best
Bruce Copperfield yes damn all the haters, jack is a great actors and a great singer, he makes funny sound, and remains me of captain beefheart , héhé some mix of ozzy Osborne, meatloaf and captain beefheart, he makes rock n roll fun and that s good , cuz we gat bored of all those star that never smile and look serious like if rock was for gloomy serious dudes
My God!!!! no song sounds better than this when the rythym kicks in !! NO SONG!!! Your missed so deeply Master Randy. He will never grow old as some that stay do.
I run three companies and if Dweezil would allow me I would get someone or someone's to take my place and be willing to follow him around and just carry his guitar cases... and make him laugh like a motherfuker. I would do that just to hear him play. For 25+ years he's Magic on the axe. A virtuoso. Period!
Dweezil shredded that solo so effortlessly that I literally feel like I could go pick up my guitar and play it no sweat. I however know that's absolutely not true.
The original purpose of auto-tune was as a pitch correction tool for when singers didn't hit their notes accurately in the studio. It was only afterwards that Cher used it as an actual vocal effect, and then of course every rap producer in the world picked up on it. And as I understand, yes, many singers do use some kind of pitch correction when they are singing live on stage nowadays as well.
once again jack gives it the beans. ok his vocals are a bit ropey in places but who gives a shit. he clearly had fun and so did everyone else apart from the few haters
Dweezil is amazing! If you haven't seen ZPZ or didn't know he's out there doing homage to FZ's music, you're missing out! But...what makes this video interesting & exceptional is his amp. Check it out....a Peavey Wiggy. Rare as they come and designed by Dweezeil with Peavey engineers. One of a kind...
dweezil plays it like it's nothing.true talent.
Yes great playing
he's amazing
Are you a guitarist, just wondering, I've been at it for 38years, started at 12,,,,I love the old hairbands still rocking out to SKID ROW, POISON,WARRENT,LOL
Still not as good as Warren Cuccurullo
It's genetic.

He was let down by the foldback engineer on the opening of the first verse, that's all. Jack's great.
The best band ever were the funniest too: The Beatles
Let them trash talk, this better than they could do. 👍
@itheuser First Metal is far from dead lmao

Dweezil Zappa is a beast on guitar!
Yes he is
danh5150 If you think he is good you should check his dad out. Oh and yes is he isn't he. :)

It's hard to top Randy's solo, but Dweezil plays it closer than anyone that I have heard. He is an awesome guitar player.
Check out buckethead doing it 😊
@@SoupieGuitar thanks I will
Yeah and he nailed the fucking tone

After playing Frank's music, this is a walk in the park for Dweezil. He's a flat out stud on guitar an all around great guy to boot.
Dweezil nailed it
God , Dweezil nailed that solo.
And he smartly chose a EVH Rasta , super rare to play Randy's solo.
He is an unbelievable and underrated guitar hero
Not a Rasta. THE RASTA.
That’s the same guitar Eddie used. Eddie gave it to dweezil Zappa after dweezil saw it sitting in the corner of 5150 studios
And a peavey wiggy amp that's pretty damn rare as well
Kinda ironic, a Randy Rhodes song being played on Eddie Van Halen’s guitar, I dig it
And played by the son of Frank Zappa
Please explain the irony?
@@pdkeast I assume Alex Logan is reffering to the low profile rivalry between EVH and RR.

Who’s here after Dweezil Zappa showed off the EVH “Rasta” guitar on All Guitar Network?

Dweezil 'The Ripper' Zappa.

Man, Dweezil can flat out play! Amazing as always.
Dweezel's tone is incredible.

Dweezil is playing Eddie Van Halen’s Rasta guitar. Just saw the video of him explaining how he came to possess it.
Been watching Dweezil videos lately and the guy is just a monster guitar player. Dude can play anything... and it's effortless. Should be mentioned among the best
dweezil killed it. nice job
Dweezil is the man. Monstrous player.
Eddie's Rasta guitar!!!
How cool is it to have that guitar!
Dweezil rocking the Rhoads! Nailed it. New respect for his skills.
