A buddy of mine had one of these in the early 90's. It was a tank in the snow, however, he always had a problem with the manifold cracking and getting it welded since GM wanted about $500-600 for a new one. Other than that it was solid. I myself had an 88 Sunbird, same car, and I loved it. Then I had a 1990 and 97 Cavalier...those were tough cares as well. I bought the 1990 in 2001 and drove it for 5 years. That power train was a tank, until fire wall was rotting. My next was the 1997, loved it, drove it for 2 years until I needed lower mileage for travel purposes. However, then bought a 2002 Sunfire in 2007....another tank which which I put a massive amount of miles on. Drove that for 6 years, and handed down to my son.
I had a 1987 Buick Skyhawk, EXACTLY the same 2 tone color. I love that car. It was great on gas and so comfortable. It had some kick as well. I drove it up to 289K. The rust forced me to retire it. The mechanic was solid up to the last mile. I parked it at my dad's farm. 3 years later, I put a battery in and it started on a snap. I'm driving a nice Accord now, but I truly miss that car.
Don't let people give you shit about your car. I caught a lot of flack for restoring a 77 Ford Pinto wegon. My first car was a pinto back in 93, so I have a special place in my heart for them. Plus, my pinto I got now, I've won many awards with it 1st and 2nd place mostly and 3 times I've gotten best in show. Oh, by the way, it's good to drive your car at least once a week or two. If anything, just just get the fluids moving and keep the seals from drying out. I also live in south Wisconsin to.
I don’t own any of these style cars and most likely never will, but there’s something about your passion for them that has me interested in your videos. I’ve watched pretty much all of them. You make good wholesome content and it is entertaining to watch. Keep us updated with the builds and restos.
I love your Cavi, .I'm a hug fan of the 1st Gen Cavaliers as well as the 2nd Gen (88-90) & (91-94).. I stupidly sold my super clean 87 and 94 super cheap in 2019. I want an 82 or 83 sedan or wagon as I like the front better. Any 1st Gen cavis are super rare now a days. I'd soooooo be proud to have your car, let the haters hate. My dad always had a repo business as long as I remember and my dad,mom and myself all 3 had a Cimarron at the same time in the 90s. I want one with manual roll up windows. But I'm with you I like boxy square bodies, 1st Gen s10s,s10 blazers,1st Gen rangers, box caprices (77-90), my beloved 3rd Gen camaros,92 and older full size rwd caddies and I also like celebrities and actually see them in Cali where I live , I like the square body ef civics also
Cool, I drove a tan one, a sedan in Drivers ed when I was 15 in 1989 it was a 1983 model. I have the sucessor to it now a 2010 Crystal l red metellic Cobalt sedan I like it a lot. my uncle had a 1985 grey station wagon. Good video 😀
North American J-Cars fascinate me, as they are so very different to their British and European equivalents, yet still have an air of familiarity about them.
The J body cars were the Generals first time working with a World Car type of platform. I have looked at the others in Europe and such and wow, familiar yet, not
This Cavalier has the rare 2 tone colour sport seats in it and you are correct about the options on the car, I love these cars, theres a guy on the cavalier forms on face book, he has cavaliers and cimarrons, I was curious if that guy was indeed you? and the cimarron is rarer than a cavalier.
I have a question for ya, i have a 1990 Olds 88 with the 3800. I replaced the egr valve and my gas mileage dropped from about 20 to 16. Is that normal for the pre series 1 3800. My cousin still has an old obd1 scanner and the engine keeps going from lean to rich every single second. We noticed the egr was not working so hoping that would solve the problem. What is your opinion on this?
@@gregorymalchuk272 yeah i found out that was normal a while back. It mostly does it while its warming up. But thank you for the feedback. Im still driving it to this day. Running great. 👍

I can always appreciate someone reviving some normal car not a standout sports car

Very cool! I've had so many Cavaliers in my life. I still have the last one parked in the garage waiting for summer.
Back in the 90’s those cars were everywhere they was good a and b cars
Why in the same fuck does my Cadillac look identical to this ?
You have the 1982-85 era Celebrity hubcaps on it!!!
I agree on the salt. I had a 04 Sunfire and it would get washed constantly during the winter. It never showed rust. Just have to keep them clean
When I was growing up my mom had a 86 cavalier wagon and my 1st car was a 1993 Pontiac sunbird good little cars
impressed with your water sprayer there
I miss my cavalier. I had a 1992 brand new Cavalier RS. $18.000 Canadian at the dealer. I drove it for 12 years. I should have kept it
I'm glad that you're feeling better (at least you sound like you are)! SE WI is so pretty!
Oh thank you!
15 in 2004 ha. I was 16 in 1990 and drove my mom 84 cavalier wagom which i eventually got. Mom replaced her car with a 1991 saturn wagon 😅
My first car was a 1985 Cavalier for $400. I was 15. (1996) I did everything to it to convert it to the F41 except for putting the 2.8 in it.
That is a rather nice 1st gen sedan you've got there. I've got four 2nd gen Cavaliers. I love them. Great little cars.
I like the Cavalier caps because the red line goes with the red pinstripe quite nicely.
Love the type 10 wheels
My mom had one. Hers was an 85 model .
Lol love your impersonation of the people commenting about rust! lol "What do you expecttttt?"
I always liked the Z24 coupe in this body style

Right on! I still want a wagon LOL

@@BruisersBeaters All things considered, the J-Car was one of GM's better ideas :)
How would you say the Chevy Celebrity compares with the first generation Chevy Cavalier in driving and reliability? Thanks

This shit box is awesome!
The funny thing is i own a 1986 2.0 cavalier and i bought it for 500 aswell

The mixture going from lean to rich every second or two is normal. It means it is going into closed loop using information from the oxygen sensor.
@@gregorymalchuk272 yeah i found out that was normal a while back. It mostly does it while its warming up. But thank you for the feedback. Im still driving it to this day. Running great. 👍
This looks almost like a smaller version of your 85 Celebrity
It kind of does! But everything back then looked like this, also!
We've had 4 J-bodies in my family.
the car i really want is a 1998 Lexus LS
My first car 86 2 door cav
Is it me or do the tail lights look almost look like in early to mid 80's Nissan 300zx z31🤔😅
This is for sale?
Hi, this is for sale?
I love that you keep these old shitboxes running. At this point I just prefer to make payments on a newer car.
Why?
@@isaac24 You want to work on pieces of shit all day?
@@isaac24 My guess would be he doesn't need to fix anything The car doesn't give him issues and he just enjoy it as a box four wheels that goes around
Do you still have the Cimeron?
I do!! It's coming back so the channel soon. It's been in storage.
Nice but rather have the skyhawk
if you already have your dream car? what’s next?
