Beautiful! I used to use the half moon, but am lazy now and use a garden hose to mark the curves/shapes and a foldable garden saw - and saw right against the hose. :)
I so love watching you explain your work! Watching you press that cut closed made me realize that grass really is hardy and that I don’t have to be afraid of hurting it lol! 😂❤
I love the way you edge. I need to edge a circle around my red twig dogwood plants. Sure could use your help in my yard. Unfortunately, I live in New York state. Thanks for the master class.😊
Have a great time at Disney Land! Long handled lawn edging shears are the best, I could use them all day, very therapeutic. Great tutorial, lovely neat edge.
Thank you for showing me how to edge the lawn. I don’t have the proper tools in the way that I was doing it has been wrong. I would like a cleaner edge then the one I’ve been doing. First I need to invest in the tools that would help.❤
Tip.... I can't use the long handled tools due to health issues ( bad back and hips, I can't bend) ...I garden on my hands and knees. I have edged my (not too shabby ) lawn with a wide bladed wallpaper scraper ( sharpened ) , string to mark the curved bit, length of wooden batten for the straight bit ..... took a bit of time but got it done. Sometimes you don't need all the expensive tools, edging is not something you will be doing all the time. All the lovely grassy bits cut off make great compost. This chap is a specialist so he has the kit.
I have been wanting to get that done. It's raining today and this weekend. I am going to get at it on Monday. Enjoy Disney!! Thanks for the great tips.
Fantastic tutorial. Now 70 I never knew those narrow square lawn tools are called spades nor what they are fore. I’ve always used a rather more pointy “spade followed by the edging tool. Definitely must upgrade my garden tools. Thank you!
Someone else mentioned clay soil. I have the same. You need to edge after rain otherwise it’s impossible. I’ve found once you have edged ( I do a wider edge because I have Bermuda grass) that it’s always easier there after.
Hi Alex, 😉 I just Love Watching You Use Your Tools to Get a Perfect Curved Edge!!👨🌾 I Too, Think Your Attractive!! Have a Wonderful Time in Disneyland!!🎡🗺 Wow, I thought Florida was Closer, but No California is!! I have been to Disney World in Florida & Disneyland in California!! Take care & have a Lovely Evening & again have a Wonderful Vacation in Disneyland Alex & Family !!❤ Love Barb from Central Illinois America❣
Very informative, but instead of cutting further out to keep the lavender happy , cut the lavender back in August which will keep it tidy and save re -edging.
I see a lot of guys using the edging tool with the 'lip' facing towards them, but I use it like you're doing here. Seems much easier to create a curve like that, lip facing away.
🌀🌀💛. I like the natural edge as you’ve done. The new gardener that I have working with the yard does something similar for which I am grateful. Not a real fan of the wood trim at the edge of lawn that is used. Thank you for showing your method.🌀🤗👍✔️
New to your channel , so this question may have already been asked , What is that hand tool ,the L shaped tool you are using and where can it be acquired? Thank you
Enjoy Disneyland! Quick Q, over time if I am to use the half moon edger (even once a year to crisp up the line) does it eat into the over all lawn? I basically mean after 10+ years will I be losing lots of my lawn space, if not why? Thanks!
I had always wondered about the tool, it is a razor hoe! Internet search suggests it is from Japan, I once had the opportunity to use a small japanese saw, brilliant tool! Might have to invest into a razor hoe!
I've done my edges like that ,then when I cut the grass the one side of my mower goes lower on the soil and I get a scraped lawn on the edge..not pretty anymore..how do you cut the lawn right next to the ditch?
Came here for a lesson on edging instead found about gardening.
😅😅
Haha - beat me to it! Great minds 😂

Thanks very much. I had been using my edger to score and also as a spade and wondered why it was so choppy. Glad I didn’t toss it.
Glad it helped!!
Love to finally see your freshly edged haircut, Makes you look more handsome.

Excellent job.
Smooth as silk, 5 ✨✨✨✨✨ edging !!!!!
Nicely done!
Spring/Summer trimming (even in your hair that is so good)
For the trimming so so nice lesson, thanks so much!!!
You're so welcome!
That was lovely, looks so good. Please take care
Looks fantastic!
Thank youu
Thank you!
I use a 2×4 to get a straight edge. I struggle with curves. This helps! 😎👍
Glad it helped 😃
Beautiful job!
Thank you! Cheers!
You make it look so easy! I have one of those tools but my edge doesn't look like that. Well done.
Keep it razor sharp & angle the cut back in towards the grass so the edge doesn't collapse when mowing
Greetings - you are a True Artist -- Take Care !!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you! New tools I will look into!👍
Greetings from Australia. Glad to see a new vid, even though I don't edge, LOL
Thanks for watching!
Lovely video. Thank you 👍

You make it look so easy. Wish I could do it like that. Great job. Enjoy Disneyland.
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
Brilliant
I use a garden hose to play around with the shape till it looks right then use the edger right along the hose (& haven’t cut a hose yet)
Beautiful😁🌿🌳
Thank you! Cheers!
Jako vždy jste perfektní zahradník! Mohu na vaší práci oči nechat! Kde máte kolegu??? 👍👍🏆🌿👋🥰
Gary has moved on unfortunately! Thanks for watching!
Looks great
Thanks!
Lovely! What brand is your half-moon edger?

Good job
That ground is so dry, your tip about watering the night before might have been the trick. 😊😊
Ah hope it works!!
Hey my boy heavy breathing there are you OK. Good job as always 😅😅😅
Thanks 😅 haha the microphone is very sensitive 🤣
Use the edgeing spade for straightlines For curves use a normal spade as it has a built in curve
New to your channel , so this question may have already been asked , What is that hand tool ,the L shaped tool you are using and where can it be acquired? Thank you

Yes it will keep eating sway at your lawn if you take too much off at a time. Add a bit of soil and seed if need to bring it back in!
super !!
lovely!!
How do you sharpen your moon shovel? Mine lost its sharpness.
Angle grinder just run a edge 😀
Use a hosepipe to get the lawn edge alignment and then cut along that line with the edging tool.
What could I do to fill in edging if I were to reduce the boarders?
I had always wondered about the tool, it is a razor hoe! Internet search suggests it is from Japan, I once had the opportunity to use a small japanese saw, brilliant tool! Might have to invest into a razor hoe!
Thanks for sharing!
Very nice. 🐦❤
I've done my edges like that ,then when I cut the grass the one side of my mower goes lower on the soil and I get a scraped lawn on the edge..not pretty anymore..how do you cut the lawn right next to the ditch?
Years of practise I guess. But your right, that can happen! Just strimming the edges might be easier if you dont want the risk!
You need to raise that little bit of the lawn
Get one with a rear roller and pull it backwards
Curious as to what you do with the waste?
So what do you do with the sods you take off. We are not allowed to put them in garden refuse or in any other waste
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Just wondering why you don’t remove some of the soil attached to the grass you pull up.
It is not worth the effort to remove it from the roots alot of the time!
Fantastisch Good work lawn you the best te famely te House te natuur best friend thans te video good weekend 🚚🚜🌾🌿⛅🎽🧢🍹🎧👍🧤😎
Thanks for watching!!

😊❤
👏👏👏👍👍👌👌👌🇨🇵🙋♀️
⚠️ Be careful not to get a groin hernia folks.
I had lovely clean edges to my lawn. Until the moles ruined them.
That’s great and looks good, unfortunately it doesn’t last. Mother Nature will move it and you soon won’t see that nice drop off.
A 12 min vid on edging ... seriously ... The world so fkn feeble today...
