- We take a look at the all new 2020 BMW M8 Competition, both the M8 Competition Coupe and M8 Competition Convertible! A car that comes in to play when the BMW M850i just isn’t enough! It comes equipped with the same 4.4-litre V8 as fitted in the M5 Competition and produces 625hp and 750nm of torque. That makes it the fastest, and most powerful road going BMW ever produced.
The BMW M8 Competition is also one of the most expensive cars BMW offers too, starting at £123,000 it really is playing in a higher league than we would typically expect, but does it compete? Watch our video to see what Paul thinks of both the coupe and convertible.

Would you go for the coupe or convertible?
Depends where one lives but convertible for me. Stunning car, not so sure about the interior looking similar to the lower models taking into account its cost, should stand out more and have a special feel.
Coupe anyday. If I want the wind in my hair and sun in my face I'll pull over and get out. Lol both are beatiful cars though
Is this wind barrier in the back stock or u fitted it? It not only looks ridiculous but makes the rear seats unusable..

The exhaust issue due to new European regs
Can't take away from the fact it's a heavy car. What if they build a CSL version & strip the hell out of it. Maybe that makes a lot more sense.

Exciting to drive isn't a thing in 4400 lb GT. The reviewer should know better.

If people want a proper M car they should have an M2 or M3. M8 is a good car but it's far too expensive for the performance. Too heavy a focus on luxury means you lose out on some of the sharpness in how it drives

@@supaahflyy even if it has the numbers on paper it's still a really heavy car. The M badge really means Marketing these days and not Motorsport like it used to. If cars like the M8 (which IMO should have a V12) are what BMW wants to be the face of the M brand great for them but they lost me a few years back.
Agreed. The 2 and 3 Series deserve a serious "clapped-out edition," with fatty turbo setup pushing high boost and big horsepower numbers. Like when they put the E30 M12 engine in F1. 🤓

I love this car it’s my favorite BMW it’s a touring car but if you upgrade the exhaust with aftermarket and you will get the animal you looking for

If you want some sportier models and track fun, M2 CS and M4 CS is the answer from the BMW range ✌

You are probably like me who wished BMW did not kill 6 series but instead made it as a tweener between the 3/4 series and the 7/8 series. With a medium sized lighter chassis, a detuned twin turbo v8 at about 550-560bhp (580 for competition) and all wheel drive, they could have a winner 👌🏻
I think the BMW people did the right thing. The majority of M8 owners will feel this is plenty for them, and If you want bonkers, there’s options... for sound, get an exhaust. For dynamics, get more agressive wheels and tires and if you want stupid fast, get a remap. Simple!

Totally agree with Paul's assessment... it's not necessary to put an M badge on everything but if you do, do it in the true spirit of Motorsport cars.
Great review, couldn't agree more with the verdict. Just think of the 992 you could have for £123k!.
BMW have gone a little soft, there's no getting away from it. M2 Competition is the only real contender in the line up for me.

Love the video! But hey, the power comment is not accurate. The M5C and M8C have the same power output.
Great video. I do like this car but way to refined. A screaming old skool BMW M6 V10, decat, resonator delete booom!! One in good condition smashes this M8 and you can easily get that M6 tuned to 625BHP and no turbo!!!

Correction, fastest BMW ever with the M5 competition. Edit: The M5 competition is 625 hp aswell, I dont know where you got that stat that the M8 competition is 8 hp more then the M5 competition they are the same. I would get the M5 competition, the M5 has just as much quality if you get the individual leather, just as much tech, but also more luxurious like massage seats in the M5, that you can't get in the M8. Its also more spaceous and like I mentioned just as fast.
Correct same hp, for me as well the M5 Competition.
this car sounds a hundred times better with a catless exhaust there is a video of one going around goodwood, but stock sounds like a ford focus
With tighter emission regulations, this is a similar fate to a lot of newer cars these days.

Well fastest ever! With the M5 competition.
I just purchased m8 competition convertible. My prior car was an amazing, beautiful E63s. Before this, I’ve owned BMW....Including 2018 M5. I’ve NEVER a gotten so much attention over a car.....and it so fun to drive

Why didn’t you mention the top speed? After all it was the fastest bmw? Bmw Alpina b7 2020 does 205mph and this only a crummier 190mph

To my eyes this car is pretty damn ugly, too big, and far too expensive. I’d go for an AMG GT over this every single time, if I were looking for something in this segment.
You would be foolish to buy the m8 over the Mercedes s63 AMG coupe

@@lovecarsTV Yeah but remember the heritage of the M8 and remain a sports car rather then turn the whole range into homogenised people carriers. Even their test model could have had accent coulrs, but instead BMW offer the dull exec look because that's their target market.
Like all current BMWs, the styling is a mess. That grille is a joke.
