- Our Halvorsen 25 Standard Cruiser built in 1947 has had several engines in its life, and we've just added to the list. We fitted a new Yanmar 3YM30, which required building new engine beds.

Nice work Captain
Very neat, Smithy.
Happy motoring !
Funky-looking white oak. Looks more like black locust, which would be even better in that application.
Lovely old boat
My SABB engine only has a third of the problem you had; it’s a single cylinder.😁
I believe all those boats were built on the Hawkesbury.
Halvornsens had a shed at Bobbin Head where the hire cruisers were, but all Standard Cruisers were built at the big shed at Ryde on the Parramatta River and taken around by sea, on a calm day
@@SmithysBoatshed There was quite a bit of boat & shipbuilding on the Parramatta back in the day. From Morts shipbuilding up to Cockatoo someone should write a book on it !
What would the average cruising speed and top speed be with the new motor? Do you know the approximate weight of the boat and propellor size/pitch? Apologies if this has been covered before. Thanks
It’s a displacement hull, cruises at 6 knots at 2600 revs, still running in so I haven’t opened it out yet. I’m afraid I don’t know the propellor pitch, but it’s 3-bladed 12”.
Great thanks 👍
