These videos are great. Watch them over and over, learnt a lot. Also like the commentary, much better than music. I use at sealer at the end, but apply it with a foam roller. Needs work when finished. Will try a cloth on the next one. Thank you for the time and effort to put these videos together. Watching skilled board builders is so good 🇦🇺👏
Cool video Jeff, really enjoyed the commentary. You are a master craftsman. Awesome to see your son following in your footsteps. Keep the videos coming.
I loooove these videos, I really like the shorts on Instagram, but the longer one is super interesting! If you posted long-form videos with the awesome music choices you use on Instagram, these would be incredibly relaxing and interesting to watch.
Thanks a lot for documenting your process! I really like the secret sauce wipe on method! I work in a well equipped factory, but the airborne particles and thinner make me worry sometimes. Would love to see your polishing process!
Loved the video. Could even be twice as long with more detail about what you are doing or looking for in each of the steps. Would be covering both ends of the spectrum with the short instagram videos. I want a twin fin fish!
love the feedback, thank you! we have been trying to figure how long is too long of a process video. there is so much that goes into the build, we will work on more in depth videos.👍
As a hobby builder I enjoy this greatly. I learn a lot from you guys. As I'm about to make new longboard, I'm keen to learn what it take to make either a more traditional or a more modern longboard. Then I have some reference for the coming 6 months haha, as it takes that long for me to build one xD
Great looking colors. Good length of video imho. What did you use for the sealer? I’ve used spray but this is how I do furniture finishes and spray leaves an orange peel finish. 🤙🏼
Thank you! we use an acrylic sealer sold by our local surfboard material supplier (FGH). we've also used floor sealers from the local hardware store in a pinch. seemed to work very well
Hi guys, very nice work..I notice you had your strap inserts installed pre deck laminating. Do you sand each insert perfectly for each hole then resin them in flush? Or do you have another layer of glass laminated, sink the inserts, then sand them flat to the first layer of cloth? I've made a few tow boards.. But your technique looks very tidy. Please elaborate. Thank you
Thanks for watching! yes, inserts pre-lamination. we actually route the insert spaces in the finished shape with a jig matching the size of the inserts. so there is a little bit of sanding to remove the taps on the inserts and take off any sharp edges/corners. The routes are already a perfect depth (almost), so getting the inserts flush is easy and just a matter of keep them from floating too much as the installation resin kicks. then normal lam right over the tops 🤙
Keep them coming. These longer and more detailed videos are great!
Be nice to have an epoxy lamination next!

Thank you! we're having fun with it
A good glasser can make or break a board how a board works even in the sanding stages. Nice job.
you are so right! Thank you
Love this. Great to hear the commentary on the build out. 🤙🏼
Thank you!
Love it 🙌 keep it coming
Mahalo!

Mahalo, thank you for the insight!
Great video. Love the backstory and knowledge when watching your hands do the work.!

Great video thanks :) would have been great to see more of the hand shaping from the start
Thank you!
Fascinating - love your work, would love to be able to do it myself. Too late now!
never too late, thank you!
