- Using the FREE mid-length template from Almond Surfboards. The templates are available in multiple shapes and various sizes on Almond’s website listed below. This board is the Mid-Length 6’6” model. These templates can be printed at full length rather than trying to tape 10 pieces of paper together. Then you can simply trace the template directly onto the surfboard blank or use it to make a permanent hardboard template.
Almond allows you to download a full size 24" x 100" .pdf and print out your template. Simply add to cart and check out... no charge.
Hot tip for printing: Take it to your local FedEx and they usually have a black & white roll printer that can print it full-scale.

I love surfing, building with my hands and making videos. Bendheim Boards is my outlet to fuel these passions. I'm self-taught and am not an expert, but these videos show the process that works for me. Follow along for new videos every month!
Awesome to see you shaping again! Been looking forward to it for a while now.
So stoked you’re back! Your videos are my favorite to watch
Awesome!
Looks like another great project! Interesting stringer arrangement. Your bay looks awesome!
Your shaping room looks great, well organized, great lighting. Looking forward to more shaping videos!
Thanks 🤙
@@BendheimBoards that way you can reuse the template+ much faster to draw up your plan shape! If you go to home depot just ask them to cut in four equal pieces length wise. Draw template on + cut outside the line of your design 1
3/16", and start w block plane. Once closer use a sureform. Finally use a sanding block. Really eye ball it til it's true to your design.
This looks just the board I have been looking for.
Was literally about to get that same template printed out. Thinking of doing a 7'10 though. Looks like a really fun shape!

First board on the new shaping room?
Btw looks very professional
🔝👍😎👍
Thanks, 2nd but who’s counting
Shaping room looks great. Would be cool to see a run down of your vacuum setup. Also, are you going to glass in there too?
Thanks, my next container video will be of the vacuum system. I have a separate glassing room attached to my garage.
When did you switch from Greenlight surf supplies (like the blanks) to foam-EZ? Remember that mini surfboard kit you reviewed? That’s a beautiful shape, it’s interesting to see the new shaping bay in action.
Foam EZ is really close to me so it made sense to start working together. Thanks for watching!
I’m obviously not Bendheim, but I’ve also greatly reduced my greenlight supplies. Greenlight is great when you’re getting started, and I love their epoxy, but their prices are higher. Especially when you don’t live near them. Shipping across the country is pricey.
I mostly buy from shapersupply and foamez as they’re both on the west coast (Oregon and socal)
So the container is basically your garage?
I need one of these 6’6”
Can i ask whAt kind of paper used to make board logo who can be used with epoxy??
Tnx
For logos, use rice paper
@@BendheimBoards hi sorry imean rice paper isnt available in my country is there any other options
Thank you
Do you ship your surfboards overseas to 🇨🇭or🇩🇪...???? THX in advance🏴☠️🤘

So I'm now at an impasse. I subscribed during the shop rebuild. I enjoy your editing style however content wise I enjoy the construction of a building more than the art of shaping a board. Mostly, this is due to me not having an interest in the hobby or sport of surfing. I'll hang out for a bit but I just don't think I'm a proper sample of your target audience.
This was a very enlightening read. I think I'll still go about my daily business as I was prior to reading this though, as it has no real bearing on my life. I have found it to be a net-zero-gain statement, posed in a neutral-to-positive tone. Thank you for your perspective. I hope you have a day. 😊
@familyjay5636 I equally agree about your response in the same sentiment.❤️
Ya
Hmmm, you seem tangled in the cables while working around the board. Have you considered ceiling sockets + spring straps for more conveniency ?
Great video, and had no idea almond had free templates. 🤙🤙🤙
The board looks really great and can't wait to see it finishing touches on it. Thanks for posting and sharing, and for the template as well. Have an awesome day dude.
Thanks for watching! 🙌
@@BendheimBoards You're welcome, bro!
Mad skill, stupid question: why, when cutting the blank, don’t you use a sawzall or jigsaw? Just curious..
Old school baby😅
Same thing like
Why going around with a pencil when you may give a quick shot with a spray can to get the edge of the shape?
@@wtfftw24Honestly, a pencil is about as fast and doesn't create overspray. Also spray can paint usually has solvents that will dissolve EPS foam.
Wrt the op, one would need a long jigsaw blade that smoothly cuts foam (sounds easier than it is, btdt) and a sawzall is just too chaotic, this isn't demolition. A thin kerf Japanese style hand saw is fastest and cleanest imho.
I prefer hand tools over power tools for cutting my templates
Nice board! and great to see you shaping in your new bay! Love the clean setup. I wish I had something like that!
You can use hardboard (Masonite), but you need a jig saw to cut outside the line of your plan shape (template), and then you true up w block plane, sureform, and sanding block w 60 grit.
Dude!! Love it! You have my dream shaping bay bro! I am still in the green house lol Hey it works!
Great video. Crushing it! You sponsored by FedEx now?
Love watching you work! I’d be interested to know how long this process took you. Glassing vid next? Keep it up 🤙🏼
YES! Mate! It's great to see you shaping again! Such a cool set up you've got now. 👍🏻
How do you find using that power planer? I’m an aspiring surfboard shaper and find the tool so tricky to get used to
Geniosss..Regardts from Argentina.
Smooth work, keep it up 👍
How much was it to print the full template?
Glass it!
Stoked to see you shaping a board in the bay! Keen for more content!
🤙
Aha yes a shaping video! Looks like the shaping bay is working great - amazing how much a non cluttered space speeds up shaping. I halved the time my 3rd board took basically by buying some plastic drawers so I wasn’t losing and searching for tools all the time! Thanks for the videos, I’m looking forward to seeing the glassing or wherever else is next!
So rad! 🤘🏻
