Sippie Wallace began to record in 1923 on Okeh records. Unlike most blues women, she wrote most of her own songs. She had a sexy, sassy style that set her apart. She is a one of a kind!!! A great blue's singer who paved the way for many women including Bonnie Raitt whom she recorded with in the 60's. R.I.P. Sippe.
@Nenethegreat W Jeez louise, let people have their opinions! Can you say with 100% certainty that this woman's voice isn't "set apart" for the original commenter's ear? Yeesh, some people just gotta know it all, don't they....?
I've come to you sweet man Falling on my knees I've come to you, pretty papa Falling on my knees To ask, If you ain't got nobody Kind darlin', take me please 'Cause I'm a mighty tight woman I'm a real tight woman, I'm a jack of all trades I can be yo' sweet woman an' also be yo' slave I can do things so good 'Til you will swear that I have a halo (over me) I hear ev'rybody saying That I'm tight in ev'rything I do I've got all the men cryin' I'm a broad that never feels blue All I want is a good man And I will make him happy too If you a married man You ain't got no business here 'Cause when you out with me I might make yo' wife shed tears 'Cause I'm a mighty tight woman And there is nothin' that I fear

@@spectralmelodies5979 well I mean, it's no where near as vulgar as the music today. Plus this stuff wasn't played on the radio, it was more like a niche sub-genre.. like sexy blues. So, sorry, but today's music is still pretty degenerate.
@@nitsuanomrah6997 gotta disagree, you ever heard "shave me dry"? And besides whether it was played on the radio is irrelevant to my point, which is that humans been freaky since day one, just check the old testament.
@@spectralmelodies5979 I gotta agree with you. We just have visuals and things are more broadcasted now with the internet. Nothing wrong with being sexual. Just don’t harm nobody 😊
A great mixture of a classic blues singer-pianist and New Orleans in Chicago jazz musicians. Natty Dominique, cornet, Honore Dutrey, trombone, Johnny Dodds, clarinet, Sippie on piano and vocal and Bill Johnson on string bass. Johnson played in the Original Creole Band with Freddie Keppard. Dutrey and Dodds played in King Oliver and Louis Armstrong's bands. Great band, great singer-songwriter pianist. Great blues and jazz.
So many greats gone by, so much talent just plain wasted by pride and prejudice, but also so happy to see people still bringing up these fantastic recordings, the real hearts of R&R go back even past this, but it is so fine, like vintage wine. Thanks OP!
This song is not about sex. Listen to the lyrics. Tight is not only a description for genitalia. She is requesting a man to take her into a relationship as she is a “jack of all trades”.
Could someone help me please, i saw a old video (on my Facebook feed) of a black female jazz singer playing a piano and singing a song i cannot remember the name of!!!!! I have searched Google & Facebook but can't find it!!! The only info i can supply: She had tambourines attached to her stockings She was very tall I think she passed away in the lat 60's I would really appreciate anyone's help!!!! Thanks

I like to break out these songs whenever someone talks about the "degradation of morals in todays society". nope, we've always been nasty. 🥰

She's saying she's an amazing woman. "Tight" is a good expression still used by black people of a certain age.
Had no idea they had nasty songs like this back then
Yes lot's of them. I was also shocked

Sippie Wallace The TEXAS MOCKINGBIRD, from Houston, Texas!!!
the horns and other instruments are EXACTLY those on Bessie Smith's records. The voice is very similar to Bessie's.

Awesome!!
yes its the roots of all the blus singing gals .. if you like this .. you must listen to the Empress of the Blues Miss Bessie Smith..
I'm amazed how tight she is with her named "Sippy".
She has that Bessie Smith sound....
Now I see where Bonnie Rait gets her style from.
100 years and they’re still singing about their asses. 😂
You’ll move out of the getto once your mind does.

😂 I am a singer and perform this often. I change a few lyrics! 😂
Hot comments generated from a fairly innocuous track. Some folk get bees in their cardies
