I’m pretty sure Maxi Rodriguez, Fabio Quagliarella, Joaquín, Claudio Pizarro & Roque Santa Cruz are all still playing, otherwise they’ve very recently retired. Jamie Cureton is still playing, although I think he’s now player-manager in the non leagues & I read something the other week about Kenny Miller still playing. Not sure if Franck Ribéry or Giorgio Chiellini started their careers in ‘99 or 2000, but they’d be close.

As someone who is following Bendtners ex on insta, it was rather obvious that Bendtner really didn't take football seriously. I'd say 90% of the time she posted anything about him was to complain about how much time he spent gaming with his friends.
In terms of the cover photo for this video, I love the irony of how the sponsor over the shoulder of the player is only a misspelling of what he’s probably thinking as he signs for that club.

I’ve been doing some research along these lines, but it’s more aimed at world class players who played their last game at really obscure clubs. The most incredible one I’ve discovered so far is the Brazilian football player from the 70s & 80s, Socrates. He doesn’t appear to have won many football trophies, but was a very highly regarded international who won 60 caps with his country, and is considered one of the top 100 players of all time. His last match was for Garforth Town, which I believe was a 7th tier amateur side in a northern English league at the time.
Funny story: Romário, 1994 Ballon D'or winner, played until the age of 41; though he did play for the likes of Adelaide FC in his final years, he also had one last great season in 2005, at the age of 39, for Fluminense, and then retired with a short, but worthy run for Vasco in 2007. Which is a lot better than a lot of players in this list, surely - Maicon especially. I wasn't even aware he was still playing O.o
If I could be a professional footballer I would play until I couldn’t. Julio Arca is prime example, even after the dizzying heights of Boro and Sunderland was still playing and living in South Shields in his 40s - that’s a proper player
It shows that not all premier league footballers want to retire as football coaches or getting hounded by bloody paparazzis and entertainment reporters. They just want more privacy and rekindle the joy of playing football minus the superstar-level pressures.
Love your videos but I have a suggestion... towards the end of your sentences it is hard to hear the last word you say. I don’t know if it’s the editing or if your words just kind of trail off towards the end but it is extremely hard to understand what you are saying a lot of the time and especially in this one. Keep up the good work I just felt that you might want you to know about this. Cheers
I'd love to see more older players going on to play for lower league clubs I have to say. And more clubs should have numbers in their names e.g. Newcastle NE1 (the club's postcode).
As easy as reading wikipedia you can learn that Drenthe stayed in Hércules FC the season after leaving Real Madrid, so his actual club is not the first spanish one since RM
I will check but I have a feeling that Jimmy Case turned out for Bashley FC in the Southern Premier or Wessex League in the early 90s . I’d like to see a video on the downfall of qpr who’s free speeding season ultimately flopped massively.
Funny story:
Romário, 1994 Ballon D'or winner, played until the age of 41; though he did play for the likes of Adelaide FC in his final years, he also had one last great season in 2005, at the age of 39, for Fluminense, and then retired with a short, but worthy run for Vasco in 2007.
Which is a lot better than a lot of players in this list, surely - Maicon especially. I wasn't even aware he was still playing O.o
Djibril Cisse just signed for Panathiniakos Chicago
1:17 genius
If I could be a professional footballer I would play until I couldn’t. Julio Arca is prime example, even after the dizzying heights of Boro and Sunderland was still playing and living in South Shields in his 40s - that’s a proper player
i would get tired of playing football
Jeffrén Suárez who is a former F.C. Barcelona player now plays for Thai club Lamphun Warrior.
Lucio from bayern and inter was still playing, till last season age 43 wow
Really enjoyed the line 'without Freddy Adu', absolute gold!
Maicon jointed Tre Penne from San Marino in June.
Video ideas:
Best managers that havent won a trophy
Best paid managers that have not won a trophy
Best paid players that havent won a trophy
You really need to add background music. It would sound better then.
Phil Jones: A really low player playing in a star club.
we want part 2!!!!
seydou doumbia - just won tha maltese championship
It shows that not all premier league footballers want to retire as football coaches or getting hounded by bloody paparazzis and entertainment reporters. They just want more privacy and rekindle the joy of playing football minus the superstar-level pressures.
Love your videos but I have a suggestion... towards the end of your sentences it is hard to hear the last word you say. I don’t know if it’s the editing or if your words just kind of trail off towards the end but it is extremely hard to understand what you are saying a lot of the time and especially in this one. Keep up the good work I just felt that you might want you to know about this. Cheers
THIS... i've mentioned this months ago but no one kinda replied to me lol...
What if Celtic and Rangers joined the PL?
After Eddie Howe pun, now it's Freddy Adu pun. Nice
you have to love jobi McAnuff legend also he's done pretty well as player manager of leyton orient
definitely make this video periodically, there will always be big names dropping down
you completely forgot KEVIN GROSSKREUTZ and maybe also Kevin Pannewitz
bendtner is the 2013 answer of lingard
Wow, this video has serious WC2010 vibes 🤯
You forgot about rafael van der vaart going from captaining a wc final to Playing Amateur football in the danish serie 4
They did manage a draw against Swansea City in FA Cup R2 & went into the hat with them when drawn against Middlesbrough in R3. Bashley lost the replay . I’m also unsure if Case was in that team even if he did turn out for them !
It would be nice if u did a new version of this video now in 2023
I remember thinking Drenthe was truly the future of dutch attacking
Agreed 💯. He has had quite a fall from grace
DUDE ! Rafael van der Vaart? .. he's playing amateur football in like the 6th or 7th best tier in Denmark!
How could you keep him out xD
