- On our way to Stella, we stopped at Boereplaas Holiday Resort, a beautiful place, perfect for relaxation. We were delighted by the sight of springbok and zebra as we entered. Upon arriving in Stella, we noticed a large salt pan to our right with an interesting story behind it. Driving through the streets of the town was enjoyable, especially when we came across a group of jukskei players. We spent some time watching them, and it looked like a lot of fun. To end our visit, we stopped in Kameel on our way out of town, where we saw the most silos in one area that we had ever seen, as well as what appears to be a functional railway line. It was a fascinating visit to Stella. #DustBugs #dustbugstravel #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #northwest #stella #kameel

Thank you for another lovely trip. I had to stop watching your trips for a while because I found my myself in tears longing for South africa. So much so we are planning even in my 80 and hubby late 70 to go home. I hope our plans come together leaving the UK
You take us places that we will never get to. Thank you for the journey!
And we just can't get enough of exploring places in our beautiful country! 🚙🇿🇦 Thank you for joining us in Stella.
Thank you two for showing me corners of the land that I call home!
I'm super happy that we could take you back to explore some of the North West. Hopefully a familiar place or two will be included, with happy memories! 🚙😊
Love your channel and new intro...🌺🩷
I appreciate that, thank you for watching! 🚙🤩 Our intro is rather cool, we love it too!
Oh DustBugs, why are you doing this to me. 😂You are blessing me endlessly, like they say home is where the heart is ❤You're taking me home virtually 🎉Thanks again, I appreciate you so much.
If this area is where you're from, I'm very happy that we could take you back and share our experiences with you. It was a joyful visit for us to Stella. 🚙🤩
What a nice littletown. And I am impressed what it lookeslike and how the old folk still play jukskei. How nice the church is and well and alive with 300 members. One would expect far less from such a small town. The school is indeed impressive. The drone did his job well thank you Curtis. What a surprise Kameel was.with the activities around it..excellent trip well done. I will not miss the next one
Kameel was a stunning stop, complete with nameboards, a lone horse and diesel on the tracks! 🐪🐎🛤️ I'm glad you enjoyed the drone footage, thank you! 😁
Stella might be a small place but lots of fun was had there many many moons ago...thanx for reviving some memories again...
You and your memories, I just love it when our videos remind you of some good times! 🚙😁 It looks like the folks are still having loads of fun there today.
@@DustBugsTravel 😄
I also knew a Stella once. Loved this little town. The cattle info was alarming for me
I had no idea 😂😂.... thanks for the drone footage Curtis and the church was beautiful. Not your normal pews was my observation. ❤❤❤❤
You're correct about the pews, they're quite different from those we've seen before. 💒 Cattle country for sure. Such impressive farming activities in this area. 🐃🐂
Hi you two! Thank you for this wonderful visit to this quaint little town in Stelleland. So spacious and well equipped. Your drone view of the salt pan and the town summed up everything beautifully. I'm looking forward to our next trip. In the mean time, keep safe!
Stella is an awesome place, I'm so glad we included it on our route. It makes me happy when you enjoy the drone shots, it was fun flying over the salt pan. 🚙🧂
Boereplaas was absolutely beautiful. My heart melted when I saw the animals. The stained glass windows at that Church fantastic.
Loved the old folk partaking in sports activity. Thanks once again Sonja and Curtis. Be safe on the road.
We loved seeing the animals and birds at Boereplaas, they made us smile! 🦆🦃🦓🦌 The jukskei players were one of our highlights of our visit to Stella. 😊🏆
Dit was lekker om weer Stella en kameel te sien geniet u videos ❤
We're happy to hear you enjoy travelling with us. 🚙😊 It sounds like you're familiar with the area, so we appreciate you hopping on board with the two of us.
Thanks Curtis and Sonja for a great video, drone footage was excellent, looking forward to the next video. I dare say we will be watching these videos for many years to come as the country is so vast
I'm glad you enjoyed this one, thank you! 🚙😁 There are just so many places to explore and the treasures and the history we find in each one, still blow our minds.
I liked boereplaas, it's really beautiful I imagined it in summer, I had never been to North west because I thought there was nothing to do or see but this is an eye opener for me, thanks a lot for this journey I enjoyed it
Boereplaas certainly looks like an awesome place to visit! 🦌🦓 We don't know the North West well either, but it was really interesting to explore. 🚙🤩
A fascinating town. The DR church design was quite unusual and unique with an interesting interior. Seeing the oldtimers playing jukskei brought back memories of "sport parade" on a Wednesday afternoon in the SA Defence Force when a group of us, doing basic training during our two-year stint of compulsory military service in 1979-1981, decided to opt for the sport. We had a whale of a time every Wednesday afternoon for nine weeks playing jukskei. Kameel was just as interesting a little place. I too was glad to see the railway line functional. Thank you for the stop.
Very interesting journey , enjoyed it, 👍❤ from Frances uk
@thewanderer58 Fascinating indeed! 👌🏻 Interesting memories you have of your own jukskei-playing days! It certainly looks like a great game, thanks for sharing! 😊
Wow Stella is such a clean, neat little place !🎉 I had a good laugh about the Retirement Home which was actually a school. I could image the old ballies climbing walls and running round like kids and pushing one another one the swings. What fun 😁 😂 ❤ The Church was beautiful😇 Thank you guys for an enjoyable trip. Bless you both 🙏 til our next trip Yahoooo 🥳
The playground for seniors had me giggling too! 🤣 I'm glad you enjoyed Stella as much as we did. It was fun to visit and great to see the church on the inside.
That story also had me in fits of laughter! Being a old age pensioner myself 😂
Love the connection to Livingstone. Itt makes sense, that sector of Africa. Such vast lands. Electricity introduced in the year of my birth. Ha! 🎉
That blew our minds! We could almost see him trekking through the area so long ago. That's why history is so incredibly fascinating! 🤓
Well here I sit with a lovely glass of red wine and enjoying your journey. The NG church is so beautiful with the stained glass letting in golden light. I didn't think anyone still played jukskei. So good to see tradition still alive. I would love to play that huge putt putt course. If only Roger my husband could be there to play with me. Certainly a strong cow vibe about this place. Thank you, really enjoyed the tour ❤❤❤
Enjoying Stella and Kameel with a glass of red wine! 😎🍷 It's so special how so many places remind you of your beloved husband.
@@DustBugsTravel he is still with me and waiting for me
Just remember being taught something about Stellaland en Goosen in history class.😁
I loved history at school, I just wish I remembered more of it! 😁📚

Hi Curtis Sonia Dusty and sandy, the North west seems to be filled with little gems, I can feel I'm going to be learning many interesting things of never heard before places, safe travels 🥾❤
The province was certainly an interesting one. You've got a lot to look forward to, we've only just begun! 🚙😁
Grew up in this town, went to school at Hoërskool Stella. So many memories!!
You should visit Taung next. It's also in the North West with tourist attractions such as Taung dam and Small heaven.
You missed the date at the beginning of the episode, we're long back home from the North West. Thank you for the suggestion. 🚙😁
Another great video 👌
Enjoying the journey with you guys!
Me too❤
I'm happy to hear that, we appreciate your company! 🚙😁
Although jukskei seen as Boere sport i'll played as a schoolboy on the Bulawayo track on a tour to Rhodesia.....1974
What a beautiful clean church❤
Yup, I was so happy to have gotten inside as well. The building itself, as well as the grounds, are immaculately kept. 🚙💒
Het jare laas n kalkoen gesien.🙃😂🙏💕
@@susannaemmerich1166 Daar is tog nog baie kalkoen maar die RDP huisies wat hul bou jaag al die kalkoene heeltemal weg
@susannaemmerich11..Us too! They're beaitiful and enormous. 😍🦃
Thank you, I am home, my dad grew up on the farm call Wes-Vlakte, near Stella ❤
I'm glad our video could make you feel at home, we felt rather at home too in the community. 🚙😊
Hi guys a small but busy town definitely cattle country with the big auction pens and the guest house with the huge brahman bulls on either side of the gate .loved seeing the people playing ( jikska) new one on me .donkey cart goats in town and the waterpump in the garden screams rural. Stunning NGK church and great it has a big congregation. I was laughing with you about the old timers on the slide and seesaws 😅 the school was a credit to the town love the sign (sacrifice is victorious) love the history of the town with livingstone and lions 🦁 also part of the Republic of Stellaland!!! What a surprise Kameel was loads of cylos station boards and no electricity till 1973 crazy. As you were crossing the tracks to the old building the dog started barking I kept thinking PASSOP VIR DIE HOND 😆 I'm actually thinking in Afrikaans now !!! thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one
I chuckled too about the see-saws! 🤣 The dogs were barking so loudly, but they weren't going to deter me from inspecting those nameboards up close! 🚉🐕
I drove through Stella ma y times when driving from Cape Town to Gaborone. I never stopped though. What a pity.
It's a very interesting place to visit and explore. Perhaps you could make a stop one day when you're in the area again. I'ts never too late! 🚙😁
My Dutch husband and I are very interested in the history and surroundings of South Africa. I showed him the part in the video of the section of the Boereplaas lodge around the dining area, as I was again puzzled by the noise generated there. He thinks it just must be airco? Anyway, I now see that those are converted milk canisters used as seats around little round tables. I get it. I get it. 😅 But what a cool lodge. We have many in Colorado too where I'm originally from way back when. Thanks
I've watched that part of the video again too, but couldn't hear a disturbing noise, so I'm glad you figured it out. 😁 Those repurposed milk cans are super cool!
In the visinity of Kameel is a chicken broiler supplying chicken portions for KFC. My brother's grandson used to work there.
Nice intro!
That was interesting to me, because we have some or other family connection to Stella itself (and lots within that region). Livingstone got around, didn't he? From Luanda to Quelimane (on foot across the entire continent), and then up the lakes, setting off the wars that would end the slave trade there, too. (If memory serves, he died up in Zambia, but he met Stanley in the north of Lake Tanganyika).
The missionaries that went to Malawi went with guns, and they fought hot wars against the slave traders. Very practical, if not entirely aligned with things like turn the other cheek. And it worked, although it took quite a long time. (At the time of the three minute war in Zanzibar, there was still slave trading going on there.)
I'm glad you found our video interesting. 🚙😁 David Livingstone was such a pioneer and an explorer in the true sense of the word. Truly fascinating stuff!
My darling Mommy was born there in 1922🤍
What a special association you have with the town of Stella! 😍
@@DustBugsTravel The trek waited for her to be born before they continued up to Rhodesia
That police emblem was painted by my uncle
WILLEM PRETORIUS
Interesting, thank you for sharing! 👮🏻
For those who didn't know. Stella means Star. Years back the whole layout of the town was in the form of a Star from the sky.
Baie dankie vriende.
Anytime, thanks for coming along! 🚙😁
Hi julle. Wow ek is verstom om te sien dis so n oulike plek. Het lekker gelag vir Sonia sal graag wil sien hoe die oumense daai speel plek geniet. Baie dankie veilig ry
That playground had us giggling for a long time afterwards! 🤣 I'm so glad you enjoyed our visit to Stella. 🚙😁
Rovos Rail goes through Kameel.
Name of the saltpan is Tswaing in Tswana language [beteken sout/salt]
Interesting, thanks for the info. 🧂
I think it should be maize silos, not sure about wheat,
Indeed! The corn kernels were proof of that! 🌽
Ai, die plek het agteruit gegaan. Dele lyk baie sleg. Daar kan darem maar projekte geloots word om die plek bietjie beter te laat lyk. Net die skool, kerk en koöperasie wat nog redelik lyk, maar die res lyk verwaarloos.😢
Neglect is something we have seen in the vast majority of the 500+ towns we've visited. We focus on the positives when we travel, otherwise there is no point. 🤷🏻♂️
Question: Is there a reason every time you guys go out on an adventure it’s always S1 (assuming Season 1?). Would it not be wise to break each of your trips up into Seasons? That way if your viewers were wanting to go back and watch an episode again it would be easy to find. Maybe the seasons could be broken up by your Kruger Park trip, your Kwa-Zulu Natal trip and so on. Everything is S1 and now well over 500 postings….I have wanted to show friends what the Northern Cape looks like, but trying to find those episodes is too much trouble.
All episodes in South Africa will always be Season 1. 🇿🇦 I created Playlists a while ago already which groups our videos together per province and per trip, which should help make it easier to find a video on a specific place.
