The Chinese gov't is pragmatic, its stand never changed, China's stand back from 1962 is: doesn't recognize both Johnson's line in the west and McDonald Line in the east as border lines because those lines were drawn randomly and unilaterally by Englishmen, not agreed by both sides back then. However, China willing to do a swap, i.e. India takes what currently held in the east part territory (roughly 90K square KM), and China takes currently held in the west part territory (roughly 30K square KM). From India's stand, India wants both, this what the real problem lies.

Your statement is correct and I agree. Dr. Sawhney spent many minutes explaining the methods of war. To me, it is war-mongering and promoting fear. His message should be NO WAR, ONLY PEACE!!! India should settle all their border disputes. Make Love, Not Wars! Promote development, not destruction! China does not have colonizing in their DNA! They take protection of their sovereignty very seriously though.

Not really, china doesn't want a swap or looking for any other similar form of deals, they want what they already presented in the new map published officially.

While I mostly agree with Mr Sawhney, I must say that China doesn’t want a war with India. Its primary concern is Taiwan’s independence clandestinely supported by the US. I believe India’s top leadership doesn’t want a war either. The two should resume the border talks and settle the border dispute asap. So many Indians including in the comments below keep saying that it’s all India’s territory and there is no dispute.

Dr. Sawhney has an excellent grasp of the outcome, should military hubris try to relive the 1962 border war. This is how military leaders think. Their mind is trying to fight the past wars.
The British created the border issues with China by drawing lines on a map and not consulting the Chinese who never agreed to what the arrogant British did. China has borders with 14 countries and the once the CPC won its civil war in 1949, it began a process and settled its land borders will all its neighbours, except one.
To settle borders, each side gives up a little to create peace and stability.
If the border is not agreed to, then expect this situation and its burden on India to last forever.

There doesn't seem to be any appetite in Beijing or New Delhi for a second Sino-Indian War that will cause even more long-term problems between the two nations, so who really benefit from the chaos, death, and destruction?

The McMahon Line was first drafted in 1913, and the treaty to ratify them (Simla Accords) was never signed by the Republic Of China(ROC) who had just overthrown the Qing dynasty. There was no such thing as the McMahon Line in 1890, and China isn't disputing where the Line was drawn, she's disputing the validity of the Line in its entirety. The primary Indian claim is that the ROC did sign the Simla Accords because a British official called Olaf Caroe fabricated a narrative in 1938 where the ROC signed the Simla Accords (they didn't) and ceded parts of Tibet to the Raj.
In 1963 a British diplomat compared a pre-1938 treaties compendium with the post-Caroe compendium and found that Caroe had changed the note on the ROC's not signing the Simla Accords into one where the ROC signed it and considers the Indo-Tibetan border finalised. Nehru picked up a copy of Caroe's fabricated compendium so he got the impression that his country was legally entitled to more than she actually was. Compounding this was the US' decision to add fuel to the flames by declaring the McMahon Line as the legitimate boundary in an attempt to contain the spread of communism, despite reservations from the US State Department and protests from the fiercely non-communist Chiang Kai-Shek, leader of the ROC.
However, we all know Nehru irreversibly altered his country's relations with China in 1962, so by 1963, when the fabrication was discovered, it was already too late to stem the tide of Indian nationalism based on the false compendium entry. And that leaves us with the situation today, in the aftermath of a British attempt to de jure carve out a piece of Chinese territory which failed but had some success de facto, then a British fabrication of her failed attempt to carve out Chinese territory, then an Indian acceptance of the British fabrication alongside American endorsement, and a Chinese refusal to accept the fabrication as anything remotely legal.
Some Indians recognise that they don't actually have a legal claim to South Tibet, so they've begun using a different claim in that the people living in South Tibet want to be part of India more than China; in essence, a claim based on the principle of self-determination. This is India's secondary claim. However, as history has shown time and time again (Catalonia, Confederate States, Taiwan, Corsica, Chechnya, Tibet, Naxalites), without the permission of the larger body, a smaller section of the population will not be allowed to separate from its original country regardless of what they want.
A much more detailed account of the McMahon Line and its history is available here, written by Peter Lee who, contrary to impressions given by his surname, is not at all Chinese.

The earliest Tibetan historical texts identify the Zhang Zhung culture as a people who migrated from the Amdo region into what is now the region of Guge in western Tibet. Zhang Zhung is considered to be the original home of the Bön religion. By the 1st century BCE, a neighboring kingdom arose in the Yarlung valley, and the Yarlung king, Drigum Tsenpo, attempted to remove the influence of the Zhang Zhung by expelling the Zhang's Bön priests from Yarlung. He was assassinated and Zhang Zhung continued its dominance of the region until it was annexed by Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century.

The history of a unified Tibet begins with the rule of Songtsen Gampo (604-650 CE), who united parts of the Yarlung River Valley and founded the Tibetan Empire. He also brought in many reforms, and Tibetan power spread rapidly, creating a large and powerful empire. It is traditionally considered that his first wife was the Princess of Nepal, Bhrikuti, and that she played a great role in the establishment of Buddhism in Tibet. In 640, he married Princess Wencheng, the niece of the Chinese emperor Taizong of Tang China

Tibet never belonged to China. It was a part of China when China herself was under Mongol rule . Tibet had a claim over only the Tawang region which she relinquished in 1914. There was no Tibet/China south of the Himalayas. The Mcmahon Line is not an arbitrary line drawn illogically like the Radcliffe Line. It is based on the internationally recognized principle of watershed demarcation with the boundary running along the crest of the mountains. It's base on geographically sound principles. Neither geographically nor historically nor culturally has Arunachal Pradesh been a part of Tibet. Tibet is a plateau to the north of Himalayas and Arunachal lies yo the South of this chain much like Nepal , Bhutan, Himachal or Uttarakhand. Hence it is a part of India .And the people there speak Hindi neither Mandarin nor Tibetan . And have chosen their representatives in electing after election thus reposting their faith in India. Therefore India will fight to the end if it ever comes to Arunachal. Make no mistake. China better not start a war with India over what is a non negotiable matter for India. Even if its a nuclear war.

So China cannot commit so much resource to border issue with India. In fact, the border issue between India and China can be attributed to 2 fundamental issues: 1. both sides have inherited poorly marked borders from British Empire and ROC/ Qing Dynasty. 2. Tibet issue. If both sides have political wisdom, border issues can be resolved. May peace prevail!

India should settle all their border disputes. Make Love, Not Wars! Promote development, not destruction! China does not have colonizing in their DNA! They take protection of their sovereignty very seriously though. The Indian public should listen closely to what the Chinese leadership says. They are always promoting peace and development. One should also look closely at their actions. They have not dropped any bombs on any country. They have built a lot of infrastructure though, which has certainly helped a lot of countries in the global south in Asia, Africa, South America, etc. PEACE, brothers and sisters!!!

Focus should be to resolve the border issue. Otherwise this issue will be just passed on from one generation to another in both countries and peoples of 2 most populated countries having not good relationship is not good for Asia and for overall world especially developing world as they look forward to both India and China for collaboration in future.
Border issue is very easy so resolve. China wants connectivity while India wants security. By declaring certain disputed areas as buffer zones or economic zones or no military zones this problem can be easily resolved.
There is already an agreement that in areas where there is settled population there will be no changes so Arunachal Pradesh is non negotiable. Same way India must uphold the One China Policy which it has always done and this will help create mutual trust.
Most important thing would be POK. India should let go of POK as it's never gonna come and let's accept this reality and move on. Convert it into international boundary and make kashmir whatever we have into its best version should be the focus.
Otherwise POK is also just politicised from both side of political spectrum whether internally or externally.
Let's show maturity and move forward. If we can solve these issues we can focus on areas of economic development which is more important to every Indian and Pakistani and Chinese and Global South.
    Peace 🙏

    • @turtlesoup8134
      @turtlesoup8134 8 месяцев назад +3

I don't think China will accept that proposed solution and neither will India. Both countries has grown large enough and so does their ego or self perceived strength. I think peaceful resolution possibility is basically over without huge status change in one or both countries, e.g. one country suddenly in political and social turmoil and is on a civil war. China resolved its border with Russia soon after it broke up post soviet era. At least the serious discussion started then and eventually resolved a few years later. China has also resolved its border issue with most other small nations along its border because the parties were clear on who they are dealing with. Countries backed by the US such as the philipines and Japan won't resolve territorial dispute until the withdrawal of the US from western pacific. US backing also create self perceived strength and ego. I think both nations understood this and both are waiting for the other to suffer large calamity before starting negotiation in earnest. Few nation will sacrifice an inch of their territory if they think they are superior or equal to the others. In fact, China is probably one of the few major nation that is willing to compromise on territories through negotiation. But even then, I don't think the indian side will compromise.

Excellent sir. So, India is not prepared for war with China . A simplified position (that may also be supported by advanced analysis) may show that there is very low probability of full fledged war with China in next 25/50 years. However, there is high probability of war in near future with Pakistan, so India is preparing to defeat Pakistan in 5/7 days and Indian armed forces preparedness should be seen in this scenario.

The Russia- Ukraine war has shown that despite all the modern technological domains of warfare, the need for boots on the ground has been prime donna. @@turtlesoup8134 it's called revision and enhancement of your existing deterrence,. After that India would just expect China to do nothing. Being afraid or not is in their scope of control. Just see the whole region, who can be best ally for China, and dont say Pakistan unless you are a Pakistani

@@REGHat-c7q Why would a first use policy be more of a deterrence than a no first use policy? I assure your it made zero difference when it comes to nukes. Russia has first use policy, so does the US. Does it deter the houthis? or make the ukranian scared of russia? Country won't be scared of nukes especially when they also have nukes. It just means that they won't use it first if the other side has one too. Essentially, all countries have an unofficial no first use policy against other nuke power.

@@turtlesoup8134 so would you say similar outcomes might have come in current Ukraine-Russia scenario if Ukraine had nukes with first use policy? its always about having a stick who has a bigger one is next level discussion and who uses it to beat or just to threaten the other. India should use same policy towards China as Pakistan uses towards India there is no other way considering we are neighbors with big differences.

I don't know anything about defence, but i don't believe Indian defence forces is that much ignorant, or it will be that easy for Chinese as stated in the video.

Well we cannot ignore the capabilities that the chinese possess. India is certainly at the backfoot here given the lack of operational capabilities. Given that it is presumed "EASY" for the chinese.

It will be called Karma for 1971.
