In September of 2022, for the first time ever, I adopted a dog from the local shelter. He is a 2 year old Border Collie. I'm telling you people, shelter dogs are some of the most grateful dogs, ever! This dog is so affectionate, he listens to everything I say because he's so happy to have a home. If you want a dog, I'm telling you, go to the shelter. There's a dog there for you, and you will be greatly rewarded!

I got my 3 year old border collie from a shelter just 4 months ago and I feel like I struck gold ever since. He is the sweetest, gentlest angel and perfect for me. We bonded instantly.
His last owner had locked him in a yard and starved him. I thought the dog would have trauma and prepared to deal with a dog with issues, having adopted from shelters before, but he is now a normal, happy and friendly dog.
in every movie i’ve ever watched, they portray animal control officers as horrible people. when really they’re just helping society, i’d love to be a animal control officer when i’m older. thanks for helping the animals, and glad to see you post a full video again!

After I retired from Law Enforcement I became an Animal Welfare Officer for a few years and it was heartbreaking so many times. A few investigations that were hard to deal with sometimes. The cruelty that people are capable of. Thank you for showing what Animal Control Officers do because so many people have a lot of misconceptions about them. It’s a great job I’d still be doing it if I hadn’t had stroke.
Yeah, I couldn't do it man.. The number of animals that I've personally euthanized, just being a Vet Tech for 5 years.. Like being the one to place the catheter, draw up the Fatal Plus and tell them "it's okay" while literally killing them. It stays with you, it breaks you down mentally and emotionally. Especially the kittens & puppies. All of them were either very old or very sick/injured. Multiply that by 100 and that's what's going on in LA shelters right now. Not just sick, or old or aggressive animals. They're euthanizing healthy, young dogs, even puppies. It's really bad right now.

As an 11 year old that has been taking care of dogs when I was 5,seeing you help dogs(or/and cats) get adopted and helping them find a home has made me smile, and motivated to help dogs(and cats) even more.
Also I love your channel, you have work hard to help dogs and cats find a lovely home, taking dogs on a dogs day out, and more so thank you for helping dogs and cats you and the people that have help animals has been doing a great job(also thank you for helping cats I love dogs and cats!!)

Thanks Rocky. I work as a vet tech in an municipal animal shelter and I love your messages. Our ACOs love animals as well as our kennel attendants, vet staff and volunteers. We work everyday to save animals and will continue to do so until we are obsolete (we pray for that day). But until it comes we appreciate every adopter, volunteer, rescue group and feral cat trapper we work with. They are truly the unsung heroes of my world.

I tip my hat to people who work with animals. They are amazing! I would love to work with them, but I'm afraid I would either be in constant tears and/or want to bring them all home with me. I love the doggies! Thank you for all that you're doing to help!

Thats understandable. I felt the same way until I became a Vet Assistant. The happy, funny & fulfilling days definitely balance out the difficult times.😊👍If I were you, I would give it a try, especially if you love animals. 😸
I did and I was in tears a lot and wanted to take many home. This is not a selfless way of caring for them though. Instead of caring about them when they have already been rescued,be happy when they get a great home!

I was an animal control officer 25 yrs ago when I was a much younger age. It was my dream job. I truly loved being able to speak up for the rights of animals & do something legally about it. I really miss that job. It's was a hard thankless job, but I loved it because it was for the animals. 🐾💖🐾
I love your attitude as a dog rescuer you don't judge the people or what happened to the dog's life. You just move forward and try to do something good for the animal. That's what should really count thank you.

One more thing...Rocky I just want you to know that your efforts to help animals and spread awareness and tips is working. I recently found a dog and found a home for her...and incredible home...shout out to Millie...when I met the new family and turned over the dog...Millie said we are off to have our first Puppachino together. You can imagine how that warmed my heart and added extra tears of joy knowing in my heart that I helped Millie and this beautiful dog find each other. I know that they will both have a wonderful life together. The connection of Rocky's channel between two people that didn't know each other yesterday was comforting. Thank you Rocky and Millie for the extra special love and care.

Absolutely! I too spent a couple of years volunteering in my local shelter, I worked with the cats that were waiting for owners to claim them after getting lost/abandoned, and watching them hide away from all the noise and goings on was very stressful on them. I was always talking to them and trying to reassure them that everything would be okay. But it does get you down sometimes when nobody even enquires about them.

It warms my heart to see these animals getting adopted. Dogs are truly very special and they are so cute and innocent. It hurts whenever someone abandons a dog. Dogs and even Cats too! They all should be treated equally as if they were human. They are so special and unique and this is why I love Dogs and Cats so much! ❤
I can agree with what you said about chihuahuas being nice and protective of their owner, I have one and I got to say he is very sweet and kind but on high alert when he senses something wrong, he has been with me and my mom for every step of the way.THANK YOU ROCKY

Former ACO here. Yup, we had Bison on the loose, a Orkin man finding a 6 foot Alligator under a house, the Great Pig Roundup, and of course the Vicious Pit Bulls (99% of the time, a puppy or nuisance dog).

My dog died in January and all my dogs toys beds treats food jumpers coats I took to an animal trust in the uk near me and it was so amazing. I miss my dog so much but now shelters dogs have toys treats and food to keep them entertained and fed.

This is amazing! I'm so happy to see your new series, Rocky! I've always thought that Animal Control Officers have such a unique and rewarding job. Sad, and heartbreaking, but also hopeful. They're often thought of as mean taskmasters, but you can see clearly that this is not always the case. I can't wait for more content like this, Rocky!

I used to have 3 dogs all of them 3 different generations they all died but I have a cat now.
You always miss them when the die but, you get used to it.
However with every animal that passes on there are many animals that need homes after that. Life keeps on moving and many animals need new lifestyles to move into.
Everyone’s tolerance for how many pets they want to own and then see die is different but, I try think of it that way.
And that’s how I made my little kitty friend!

In every Movie I’ve watched, they make the AC look like Evil People’s but deep inside they are Friendly and Nice.
I fostered pups that were mistreated. One of the hardest but most rewarding volunteering I’ve ever done. I keep track of every one of them, so worried they’ll end up being mistreated again, I’ve had to take two back that were not adequately taken care of

Oftentimes, when we call for help, no one comes. This leads to "Learned Helplessness" or hopelessness, as I prefer to call it. (The term comes from animals in cages, I believe, and this is why some of us empathize w/shelter pets). If it's not dogs vs cats, then it's accusations of caring more about animals than people.🙄
For same reasons, I went for large dogs b/c I felt they needed me more. What I've learned from my own experience is that unless it's a case of abuse or neglect, sometimes animals end up in shelters because esp. nowadays people are struggling, too.
Thank you, Rocky and AC officers, for doing what you do no matter what the dogs do or others say! Thank you also for also enforcing laws for everyone's betterment and quality of life.

I am very worried about the fallout of “people” adopting animals during Covid who are now abandoning them! It makes me sad and sick! I know this video is 3 months old but I adopted a dog that nobody would accept over a year ago now because she is very vocal and untrusting of people and other animals. My nickname for her is “sweet and sour” because when she doesn’t know you she is very sour but when she gets to know you she is very sweet! That’s her in my profile pic lol Also I randomly found her 3 weeks after my other rescue dog passed away… RIP Kiki
Rocky, My son and I foster scared little dogs for Big Bones Canine Rescue in Windsor, Colorado. We just got our 24th foster adopted last night.
Anyhow, you commented about not knowing rescues pull from shelters. We have fostered dogs from CA, OK, and TX that BBCR pulled from shelters and transported to CO. I even had a foster that came in from CA with Mexican vet paperwork so that little guy had quite the journey.
