@@69metersbelow25 what people don’t understand is that $10 now is better than a chance for $20. Unless you’re willing to sell on eBay or Amazon (shop owners I mean) then they aren’t going to get the premium prices. Also I wouldn’t mind giving bigger discounts the more they buy

If he had 10 Copies of Call of Duty Black Ops listed for 15 bucks, that leaves the ball in Phoenix's court to buy them straight out because they are underpriced. But if he had 10 copies of Cod Black ops just sitting there, with no price, then (Because Phoenix is being fair) he might offer 20 bucks a piece instead and thus the guy makes more money
Like, look at these titles Pheonix was buying, lets be honest here, who, outside of resellers, is going to go into a GAMESTORE and buy a DISC ONLY copy of Rugrats for 4 bucks, no one, it wouldn't sell on the shelf, so by the dude not listing it Pheonix can look at it, he offers his fair price and the guy makes 3-4x as much (honestly would have been in a $1 dollar pile otherwise)
Edit: Something you gotta remember is Phoenix isn't buying super mainstream popular titles most of the time, his buying more valuable rare titles, games an average person wouldn't buy and because average people won't buy it the shop owner would HAVE to list them at super low prices (less then 5 bucks, 1 dollar piles) to try and sell em, Pheonix just, existing, gives this dude an out to sell a lot of stuff he wouldn't sell otherwise AND make a crap load more money from it also

The amount of money you pay for disc only is crazy to resell the game stores are always high retail asking price for a game you can find at a pawn shop for 3 bucks

Some will be extra toolish to say to customers over the phone that their stuff won’t be worth much but to “bring it in anyway” for assessment.. So why bother telling customers to bring goods in that aren’t worth anything ??? Duh, doesn’t make any sense. They’re all crooks.

He has no choice, by the owner not bothering to put prices on it, Phoenix HAS to put the price on it, making it so the owner makes more money, as opposed to Phoenix entering the store, the guy actually having prices on it, and Phoenix buying a bulk amount of mis-priced stuff that the guy can't just say "no i want 20 for that" when he has it listed for 15. But if he doesn't put a price on it then, well, he can just "no i want 20 for that" and either Phoenix either pays the extra 5 or declines

a guy i went to highschool with opened a video game store 7 or 8 years ago.
he went to ebgames and bought over 20 000 worth of games. using his onyx card and a buy 1 get 3 free deal on all ps2, ps3, xbox, wii u, wii, 360 and gba.
he had an entire inventory, enough to open a store 3 times. going to 30 different locations all across ontario took 4 days.
after 3 years he was out of business. which sucked because i always got my games a week early from launch.
i always wondered what he did with that huge supply of games.

what, why? I think Phoenix Resale made a ton of great deals with him, last time he spent like 4 or 5k in this shop and Phoenix likely made at least like 8 to 10k on that back, this time he spent 1k and will make like 2k back. I think that is a really great return he makes him good prices and you can't expect to get prices like you would find in a yard sale from a commercial seller thats why they can't always agree on any game but the seller has the quantity of games that Phoenix would not find even if he went to like 40 yard sales that makes it more than worth it.

if you are doing this much business with a store, perhaps you could do a consignment deal for the higher priced games (that comes in)? That way it will help the store with cash flow & moving inventory (on month or every other month basis). Still a bit iffy on the store owner, but you always keep it professional. Personally not how I would do deals or handle customers.

I have a question if the game stores can sell the same game for money why do they sell you the games why not put the games on the shelves on eBay and sell them that way as well because they get access to more customers and make more money the extra money could go into an employee who handles all the e-commerce I just don't understand why they need a middleman to take an additional cut
