Hey guys! I just posted in my community tab here on RUclips feel free to drop any detailed questions you have in there! I will be doing a Pharmacy Technician Q & A pt. 2 including wayyyy more information! ❤️
Hey kenni i hope u have agood day , i wanted to ask u about the work in a pharmacy is it suitable for someone working for the first time 😅 ? Cuse i just came to Texas two months ago and I thought about working in cvs pharmacy 😬 so yeah tell me what u think ❤
I'm starting to look into this as a possible career. It was awesome to get an ACTUAL look at what the day-to-day is for working! thank you so much for posting this!
I worked as a pharmacy tech for 3 years!! and damn im jealous you guys have the counting machine!! we did all the counting manually, and it was a looot, especiallu for 180 pill prescription and stuff.
I’m 10 years in. Doesn’t even feel like it really as it’s all been a blur. Retail, Mail Order, Refills Departments, Prior Authorizations. Many different avenues I’ve seen.Even took a break to become a truck driver but eventually dusted the old Tech license off. It’s nice to be able to jump back in the pharmacy world easily as they always need techs.
I just found your channel, I hope you're still a technician. I've been a pharmacy technician for around three months now and I love it! Challenging and rewarding at the same time.
It is my second day as an externship student at retail Pharmacy. First day was filing in prescription. I have to see how taking in calls and talking to customer will be. Thank you for showing us the day to day work.
Sundays at Kroger look chill. Congrats on your 1 year anniversary as a tech!:) Keep it going, you will find better pay opportunities at clincics and hospitals.
I’m happy I found your video. I start school next month and already some people are discouraging me . Saying it’s nothing but stress and it’s complicated. But I think going to school to do this is part of my journey and your video is inspiring. Thank you .💕 stay blessed and I hope to do a good job like yourself.
I have had a job that the ppl working there had tried to discourage me from and I did it. So this is probably another one that I could do… I’m thinking on it.
Girl I NEEDED this video I start training next week (I was lucky to find a pharmacy technician apprenticeship job) and I'm excited but also nervous as heck! But seeing kind of an idea of what my work days would look like, really help. Thank you so much! 🖤💖
Same I have an interview next week for a pharmacy technician/apprenticeship job and I’m excited! Good luck to everyone else who is trying to get in the field and keep up the good work for the people already in the field❤️
I'm watching this video less than a month after I completed my pharmacy tech externship at a small CVS pharmacy. What's shown in this video solidly jibes with what I experienced as an extern. So this is a good solid video for showing what a day in the life of a pharmacy tech is like. Its difficult to portray the pharm. tech. workday without violating HIPPA, but Kenna did so as well as anyone could. Well done, Kenna!!
I work at a HEB Pharmacy as a heb Pharmacy Representative in the front, I’m truly thankful working at the Pharmacy they changed my life and opened my eyes to a new world I never thought of being in, but Pharmacy Technicians come in so clutch for me when I’m asking for a re-bill with insurance on a prescription, they are so busy but they still take the time to help me out and I thank them all the time because they do so much at my work❤️ Everyone at my works plays an important role but techs at my work are my favorite!
I have a cousin who never studied much, we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than her studies after writing the nclex exam last month she passed and i failed😢, i asked her how she did it, just found out she got help from Mr Richard
I start Monday at Walgreens and I am so nervous this made me feel a little less scared and I love your attitude I can only pray I can be as confident as you as I progress
This video is probably the most helpful I’ve seen on RUclips. I just applied to 2 different pharmacies to be a tech (in training) and this gives me a lot of hope. Thanks so much!
Thanks for this video! I have been so nervous over the weekend. Had a week in training already and got so nervous suddenly. Videos like this really help me to relax.
I am the lead tech at a cvs right across from one of the largest hospitals in NY, we easily do 300+ scripts on a sunday in 7 hours. Man do i wish my store was as chill as yours 😂 we hold ot together, we been tied for #1 in the country on all our metrics the past 4 months lol 💪💪💪
Your making meeeee want to go ahead & just do it 😩 I worked at Walgreens before and I always say I’m not going back to customer service but you make me feel like it will all be okay going back as a PT
Where I work as a tech is nowhere near as chill. We have hundreds of scripts a day and can't fill them when we are all at registers or drive thru 🙃. Firm believer that pharmacies shouldn't have drive thru's. It's not fast food, it makes it harder on stores like mine to fill all the 300+ scripts we get a day. Most of the time their meds aren't ready or we don't even have the script. Always praise the drive thru people who prepay or at least know they have meds ready
Do u think they would maybe hire me as a first job? I have some experience with working but never had an actual job where I receive checks & stuff, I am just paid everyday for the day & how I worked. I’m very advanced for my age & I adapt fast & I am a great problem solver & I know I could definitely handle the job. But do u think they would hire a 16 year old w no actual experience?
Thank you for this video! I am looking into doing classes for pharmacy technician to start the new year off and this video really peaked my interest for it!
I know CVS offers to train you and once you complete your 240 hours in the pharmacy you can apply to the board of pharmacy for your license. Look into it:)
Im about to start with cvs speaking of it and they going train me and help me get my license….i just got the offer but im ready to just see where it take me 💪
Thank you for sharing your time and. Thank you for keeping a positive energy through your day at work its gratefullyappreciated. I'm actually looking forward to becoming a pharmacy technician for 2024. ❤
i just started a job as a PT, and i love how you made me feel watching the video of my job im like 2 weeks in with no experience! and thanks so much for sharing your experience and opinions
Thanks so much for uploading! I've been considering this as a career and I was so nervous because I thought it'd be super difficult. I'm sure it's not easy and it's stressful, but it doesn't look as difficult as I thought it would.
Yes I work as an insurance specialist and I call the pharmacy a lot through out my day of work to help my customers and the pharmacy with certain claims. It’s a Win win but hopefully I can do pharmacy tech one day ❤
Yesssss!!! You an awesome pharmacy technician!! I am starting school in 2 weeks for pharmacy technician!! I’m so excited but yet nervous!! Congrats on your one year!!
Hi Kenn I work for Kroger also as a pharmacy Tech. It’s Ralphs in California though 🫶🏽 Been with Kroger for almost 15 years. Pay just got increased which is good. Ralphs is chill compared to Walgreens 🤩🤩
this was great! I'm currently in the Pharmacy Technician program and I have two more months before I start my externship and this helped me get an idea on how the pharmacy works!
@@stephaniecastillo8229 I currently live in Texas. I was looking around to see where I could find the program and I found a school near to me so I signed up and I’m currently there.

I loved your video! I’ve been in the medical field for awhile, but have not worked in a pharmacy before. I was just hired as a pharmacy technician in NY state. I start next week and I’m a little nervous on starting a new career path! If all goes well I will start studying for PTCB exam to become certified. Your video was good for me to view. Thank you so much!
I used to work for CVS as a Pharmacy Assistant in training to be a Pharmacy Tech. (I know, I didn’t know they did that either without a certified degree) Anyways, it was really fun and different. Very very busy during the week like you said. Lots of crack heads coming in trying to buy needles. (At the time I was never notified that I would get people like that so I accidentally sold someone one) the pharmacist was sweet and patient with me but the other techs were rude and impatient with my training. I ended up leaving because I moved 2 hours away from that city I was working in. I’m in the insurance industry rn but in thinking of switching careers.
@@Godzillaking956 Yes and no. Some require you to have it and some like CVS I guess, has a program that provides hands-on the job training and they cover all of your tech studies. Very interesting, I would recommend going to your local store and talking to the pharmacist, not the techs, the actual Doctor. Usually they do the hiring
Not sure how it varies from state to state. But i live in fl and Cvs will hire you with no experience and “train” you. Also you’ll get your state lit within 6 months
I just subscribe and liked this video i absolutely loved it on how chill and easy it is to work as TP and also not going home super late because as a single mom it’s not easy so I’m thinking of going to school and study for this and become/do better for my daughter.
I will be graduating from pharmacy technician college here in Nigeria, in August. I'm writing my final college exams, also the PCN examination is in August. I can't wait to start working
I've been doing Pharmacy tech for 4 months now and it's first time for me officially in medical field. All new routine for me and I always struggle with people's insurance and when they come in and they're not ready they be getting mad and needy. Pre Vers, Data entry, adjudication PA, I get scared to tell people it's not ready. Their Dr needs to stop telling them it should be ready by the time they get there. It's been a rough week for us bc a closing Pharmacy is closing and merging in. I don't think there's an ending to a Pharmacy life story lol. Bless our hearts we some time don't even get a break. Trying our very best to push out people's med. But kudos to you!!! Sorry my story is kinda choppy just don't know where to start 😂😆😂
omgg im looking at videos so i can kinda get a feel of what im going to be getting in to because im starting school in august and this comment got me worried
Hi Kennedy!!❤❤ You may not remember me from West Brook High School? Makia? I am so glad to not only see you do your thing but also another pharmacy technician that works at Kroger too. I will keep learning from you!!❤
hi veronica ,what's the name of the program online are u taking to and what state are u coz im planning to study as a pharmacy technician but i dont have no idea yet what school here. im in ny now.thank u
Omg i work at Kroger too been working there for 3 years now! I loved how you informed everyone on what it’s like being a pharm tech it was very thorough and you didn’t violate hipaa lol love your channel I subscribed! ❤😂 an do y’all still have the whit bags ours is brown now!!
What I have noticed a few times is an inconvenience in the drive thru. It seems that sonetimes people take their rx to be filled and wait in the drive thru for 20-30 min. This causes people that just came to pick up a long wait time. It would be nice to tell those customers that they need to come back in 30 minutes to pick up because they hold up the line. It is a drive thru for pick up only not for waiting for the script to be filled. It is very inconsiderate of others.
You made this job looks so good. I worked at cvs for a month then I quit, it was too stressful. But I’m thinking about going to school and be certified which is better.
I filmed this on a Sunday which isn’t our bad day. During the week it is very hectic, also there’s so many online short programs you should look into i case you didn’t want to go to school!
What's the difference on job in terms of job description of certified pharma tech and not certified pharma tech? Coz i am planning to apply i've been working in pharmacy here in philippines for 11yrs.
I am a senior in high school… class of 2022. 💟 I’m looking into becoming a pharmacist… or going into nursing school & Please continue to make these videos!!
I just got hired as a tech in Kroger as well! right now I'm doing the computer training, after that I'll be hands on! im excited and nervous because I have no experience. I want to get licensed too. Do you have any tips?
At the moment I'm going to school for so short my bachelor's and so sure I do plan on getting my masters in social work, however I do have a disability and I was thinking that if social work doesn't work out for me what can I do for work as a full-time you know job or career if social work you know doesn't work out for me because of my physical disability so I looked into a pharmacy technician just to see what they do and I really like your video you really show you know the life of what the job actually entails I really enjoyed your video
this hard 100!!! I appreciate this video I just got offered a position from home and needed to get a lil insight on what I need to say in the interview
Kroger, all right! I worked as an intern at the Kroger Pharmacy in Charleston, WV (Kanawha City). summer of 2022, I work non-stop for about 4 months, 76 hours a week. it was crazy!
Greetings, I am on Medicaid and filing for disability due to Epilepsy. Normally there is a low deductible for my medicines. Recently I was expecting to pay the $3 per item deductible. However the clerk said I "owed nothing" and that surprised me. I wonder if this is due to my Disability filing... 🤔 Any ideas?
One question: did u need to take chemistry as an alevel, as I REALLY want to do pharmacy or pharmacy technician but I despise chemistry. Just doing my GCSE’s rn and idk what option to choose. Btw, LOVE ur videos x
I just started a Pharmacy technician course at my college (right after graduating from there as well.) Is starting pharmacy technician at a retail store fir the first time, always a little challenging
I’m a pharmacy tech at Kinney drugs, but the one I work at stays open until midnight. When all the other pharmacies close we get the rush of all urgent cares and it’s crazy busy
How much calculating do you have to do? Or is that mostly computerized? Also, how much converting from standard to metric and vice versa? Or is that computerized too??
I love ❤ this vid because i always wonder what it looks like behind the pharmacy counter or what they do to stock or package the meds for people. I know it will take some time for the pharmacist to do all of this, so i don't mind patiently waiting for my meds. At least this vid, kinda make some kinda visualisation in my mind what can happen behind the scene. Oh on some days when i took my meds, i can see the pharmacist or technician kinda look as if they went thru a hurricane 😂. I'm like thank you for the correct meds and good job for doing a great job 👏
I was just hired as a pharm tech/apprentice. This is exactly what I wanted to see and hear..lol What's it like on the other side of that counter! Are you already certified?
Love the video!! Im a technician at CVS, and I’ve been wanting to make a video like this… but im nervous to just prop my phone up and film. Did you have to ask permission or did you just start filming? Anyway, just subscribed, cant wait to see more vids like this!
Yay!!! But yes, I asked for permission and made sure to do this type of video on one of our pharmacy’s “slower day” which is Sunday for us. Honestly, if they say yes I’d do it just be careful with hippa and such! 💓
I loved the video. Thinking of doing this training soon! How do you learn all the insurance stuff? Do they teach you in the training to become a tech or once you have job in the pharmacy? Thank you. Going to look and see if you have more videos:)
I am making a video over all the things super soon! But I am currently a pharmacy tech trainee (I take my test next month to fully become registered) but in the meantime obtaining your trainee license online gives you rights to work in the pharmacy while getting hands on training, which then I was taught insurance stuff etc!
It's probably best to use a counting spatula instead of the bottom of a pill bottle that most likely has been handled by manufacturers and vendors and sitting on shelves and counters , especially if customers might watch this, remember they are putting it in their mouth.
Love it. I'm half way through school to get certified for PT. :) How many hours per week do you you usually work in the pharmacy per week? Can it be overwhelming?
Wow! Thank you for this video. I am interested in becoming a pharmacy technician but I don't know if I can do it. I just have an anxiety with talking to customers specifically English is not my main language.
My exact fear. English is not my main language, I suffer social anxiety disorder and I would love to try this field n role. I was advised to transition slowly from small/ low paced pharmacy retail associates to then entry-level pharmacy assistant.
Thank you for having the courage to present the Christian life and incorporate your life. Thank you for showing the Way, the Life, and the Truth with your subs you never know how many seeds you have planted, or how many you have watered. I know God is very real as well as Jesus, and He has delivered me many times, shown me many things, I don't understand why I still fall. Even worse is the fact that I kind of hesitate sharing Him with others because off how the world reacts, this happened this very day in fact, and I ran across your channel because I work in a pharmacy. This is not coincidental God planned this to show me something, He was working thru you, thank you!!! Confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead 3 days later and you shall be saved. Then get baptized for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Praise Him, follow Him, pray to Him and be healed. Love you my brethren.
please please do a Q&A ! I am seriously trying to get back into the medical world and I was going to apply for this on the job training pharm tech but i'm still questioning it. I live with my boyfriend and already make good money but it's not something that I want to do anymore so now i am interested in being a retail pharm tech to get my foot in the door. Is this still a liveable wage? Can you make good money even if you work at retail? I definitely want to go to school for this and work at a hospital one day but I need more information on this! Please and thank u🥰 Also, is working with customers difficult? I've worked in fast food once and had struggled from time to time but it's been about 3-4 years since.

So I don’t need to go to college to do this ?
@@Godzillaking956
Yes and no. Some require you to have it and some like CVS I guess, has a program that provides hands-on the job training and they cover all of your tech studies. Very interesting, I would recommend going to your local store and talking to the pharmacist, not the techs, the actual Doctor. Usually they do the hiring
@@Godzillaking956
But to answer your first question, to be a pharmacy tech, you can look for a Trade School and get your degree instead of a college!
So happy for you! I know for a fact everything will work itself out! 💓
Heavy on the “no ones home we don’t want to talk” them things do not stop ringing
I will be graduating from pharmacy technician college here in Nigeria, in August. I'm writing my final college exams, also the PCN examination is in August. I can't wait to start working
Kenni! Thank you for your wonderful video. This is great for people who are interested in working at a pharmacy. Keep up the amazing work!
Love your videos. I been certified since April 5th 2016. Pharmacy Technician is a tough profession but I wouldn't change it for anything.
Would you think this is better or cna
@@carolinalights7604 Pharmacy Technician
@@nebralester1368 thanks baby I'm going to look into it I'm a medication technician.
Sorry my story is kinda choppy just don't know where to start 😂😆😂
omgg im looking at videos so i can kinda get a feel of what im going to be getting in to because im starting school in august and this comment got me worried
seems like a hectic hard job, but you very good and fast at it.
I am training to be a pharmacy technician. I start in about a week, but I am watching your video now to learn some of what I'll be doing
Hi Kennedy!!❤❤ You may not remember me from West Brook High School? Makia? I am so glad to not only see you do your thing but also another pharmacy technician that works at Kroger too. I will keep learning from you!!❤
I’m so looking forward to starting my class next month. It’s online
Yessss miss ma’am!!! Good luck to you!!! ❤️
hi veronica ,what's the name of the program online are u taking to and what state are u coz im planning to study as a pharmacy technician but i dont have no idea yet what school here. im in ny now.thank u
Thanks for the video! I start as a tech this week and I'm so excited/nervous!
So excited for you!!
I definitely enjoyed this video and wishing you happiness and success coming your way 🤩💖💖
Thank you so much! 💕
@kenni hi mam.do u have any recommended program online or school for pharmacy technician ? I currently live in new york.thank u..
@@jeramaeharrilall4830 I would say try medcerts I was looking into their program earlier

Nursing school:)
LMAOOO “im being dramatic, it wasn’t even that bad” me anytime I have a good day at the pharmacy 💀💀
As a pharmacy tech are you a cashier as well or someone else does that ? Thank you! Your job looks so chill 😁
As a tech, you do it all. It's a rotation with filling, intake, and cashier
I’ll take this job any day over having to sell clothes to people or have to work in a restaurant. It’s retail but it’s not tooo retail hehe
I just got hired as a tech in Kroger as well! right now I'm doing the computer training, after that I'll be hands on! im excited and nervous because I have no experience. I want to get licensed too. Do you have any tips?
Yessss! Honestly go into the pharmacy with an open mind and stick with your tough skin since patients can be mean at times. You got this!! ❤️
Just applied at Walgreens… hopefully I hear some good news
You got this.
I’m excited for my externship this fall, thanks for sharing!
WOOOW congratulation gal, watching from nairobi kenya,,hope to come and work as a pharmacy technician in usa after qualifying for a green card
Kroger, all right! I worked as an intern at the Kroger Pharmacy in Charleston, WV (Kanawha City). summer of 2022, I work non-stop for about 4 months, 76 hours a week. it was crazy!
I have a pharmacy tech interview today with Walgreens and hope it’s gonna be like your job 🥰 great video!!!
Good luck!! You’ll do awesome ❤️
How was it? I’m thinking of applying there too
Greetings,
I am on Medicaid and filing for disability due to Epilepsy. Normally there is a low deductible for my medicines. Recently I was expecting to pay the $3 per item deductible. However the clerk said I "owed nothing" and that surprised me. I wonder if this is due to my Disability filing... 🤔 Any ideas?
I’m so glad you made this! This is really helpful bc I wasn’t sure to work at Walmart for this , but I don’t think it’s for me
I landed a Kroger pharmacy tech position I start in couple weeks I’m so scared and excited!
As a new tech in training it’s so nice to see that others run as ours do…. Hand counting sucks
I just started working in a pharmacy and learning all the computer systems is gonna KILL ME! Insurance companies suck lmao.
One question: did u need to take chemistry as an alevel, as I REALLY want to do pharmacy or pharmacy technician but I despise chemistry. Just doing my GCSE’s rn and idk what option to choose. Btw, LOVE ur videos x
I just started a Pharmacy technician course at my college (right after graduating from there as well.)
Is starting pharmacy technician at a retail store fir the first time, always a little challenging
Yes I work in a pharmacy with a hand counter and it’s no fun but at least I have the experience
I’m a pharmacy tech at Kinney drugs, but the one I work at stays open until midnight. When all the other pharmacies close we get the rush of all urgent cares and it’s crazy busy
Geeezz I bet
Great video !💗 Would you say this would be a good job for a college student ? Flexible schedule?
I felt this whole video 😂😂 this is me all dayyyyy
I had to watch this video till the end because star it was engaging and beneficial to me. Thanks Kenni
I want to do this but can’t handle stress very well.
I’m studying to be a technician and I am so glad I came across this video. It motivated me to keep going 🥹
Since I am in school I work about 25-30 hrs a week right now. It can be a little overwhelming but it is reasonable!
Wow! Thank you for this video. I am interested in becoming a pharmacy technician but I don't know if I can do it. I just have an anxiety with talking to customers specifically English is not my main language.
You can do it!! It can be overwhelming some days but there isn’t anything you can’t do!
My exact fear. English is not my main language, I suffer social anxiety disorder and I would love to try this field n role.
I was advised to transition slowly from small/ low paced pharmacy retail associates to then entry-level pharmacy assistant.
I love this very chill pharm tech❤ I'm a pharmacist here in the philippines and I want a pharmtech like you girl 💖🤙💯
I'm a lead tech with Kroger. I love my job but don't like working Sundays. Can't look at the clock or you will go crazy
