These are great tips! My job had a certification program and the website they had me use had 2 practice tests before I could sign up for the PTCB. It wanted to make sure I was ready for the real thing kekeke What also helped me was focusing on my weakest areas which was the math, half of the meds, and the laws. Also, the PTCB is random and the techs I talked to said they had either mostly math problems or meds.

I’m physically disabled and because of it my career choices dropped down A LOT. However, this is a job I actually can do being that it doesn’t require too much mobility (like giving someone shots, or preforming surgery.) so I just want to say thank you so very much for giving me extra confidence. I’m looking to making a career out of this. I see they can make up to $79k a year! And if not that, then around $69k!

I literally just decided to consider taking an online course of this in January. I am up for a change in my life and love to learn something new and way out of my comfort zone. Done it many times in life. I am starting from no knowledge, so I have a long way to go. Right now, I am just buying some basic info from Amazon. It seems this a field that is shorthanded...like pretty much any other business.
I’m scaring myself out of taking it every time because I could never grasp the math portions in my continued education class last year. I’ve procrastinated that long and that much. But now my current job is high stress and I need to put my big girl panties on and just tackle this. I can do the basic math but when it comes to finding dextrose and turning mcg to mg, I just can’t grasp it. So basically It’s just the long equations.
I picked up this little book on Kindle too and I'm making all my flashcards from the information in its pages. Planning on testing in March. Wish me luck!

I passed an insurance license exam in 4 days without studying. When I was 17 I also passed a GED exam without studying despite only finishing the 9th grade! So I think once I start my pharmacy technician paid training I should be fine.

Need help! As of 2023 Is it mandate to take a pharmacy Technician course to appear for the PTCB exam or appear for the Exam without a course, and then apply for the Job ? You can most definitely use the book to pass without experience. In your case you will have to really study the book and use practice apps to fully understand!!
Yes, I started as an unlicensed Pharmacy Tech at Stop and Shop. Background information was not a requirement and I learned from experience and I worked my way up to Full-time my first year. I am studying to get my certification now, so yes it is possible to begin without prior experience! Goodluck!

I knew several of the answers just because of the app, I work in retail pharmacy so I don't deal with compounding or hospital stuff like Iv's.... Afaik, in order to take the exam (at least in Texas), you need to have taken a Technician course or have 400-500 hours of worked experience in a pharmacy.
Yes it’s mandatory to have pharmacy hours in order to take the PTCB. It actually requests that info from you before your application approves to take the test.

Yes! It took me 2 weeks to study the book alone and feel comfortable. After that, the other 2 weeks I did flash cards and took the practice test! You got this! If I can do it in one month you can too ❤️. Stay consistent in studying while you wait tho! At least 45min a day for me personally!

I would not recommend this book. Yes it does simplify into easier terminology certain things on the test like drug classes but it misses common information like dosage forms is not even discussed in this book. Would not recommend it is not enough to pass the test at all. Obviously she has previous pharmacy experience which helped her. Overall this book is not enough context and doesn’t cover everything on test.

When I took the ptcb it took me 35 mins and it was kinda a review of things I already knew. Mine had a few pharmacy calculations on it.
My score was a 1538. Passing scores are 1400-1600.
They say third times a charm, am officially passed my Naplex 🎉🎉🎈 for all my repeat test takers don't give up and don't be discouraged
I failed 3 times, i lost money to scams and reviews that never helped but the major thing is that I've not lost hope

ptcb practice test does give you the answers afterwards !
All of the practice tests I've found online - both written and on RUclips - have explanations of each answer.

I can’t speak on other states but in Texas you either have to have passed an accredited course or worked at least 500 hours as a trainee.
