  • As we were remodeling the look and functionality of our fireplace, we needed to add an outlet into the brick wall for our data cables to go through and I thought it would be helpful to post this video. I remember searching for this same topic without much luck the first time I added an outlet in a brick wall. If you have a hammer and a chisel, a pneumatic air hammer, or a masonry bit with a hammer drill and chisel, you should be able to make a hole in the brick. I hope this video helps you get a new outlet where it needs to be! Best of luck!

I think you should have used a plate with connectors. Any critters that can access your attic or walls will have access to your living space more easily with that plate. 🚫🐭🪲🪳 #HomeImprovement #SafetyFirst

Great vid. But where's the link of which you speak (at around 3 min 45 sec) for the media center?

If you are viewing it on your phone, I don't think the pop-up for alternate videos pops up. If you are viewing it on a computer or tablet, it should have a little "i" icon at the top right corner of the screen to click on.

What kind of chisel tip are you using on your air hammer?

It looks similar to a flathead screwdriver.

Is this a decorative brick wall or is this brick from the supporting walls?

This is a decorative brick wall on the interior of the home. Though, most brick walls are just a facade on the exterior and not actually load bearing. The process would be the same for an exterior outlet. Consult a local professional to double check your specific situation.

Nice. Good rip to always, always protect the end of a fiber optic cable when routing through any surface, especially hard brick. Most come with protective end caps already attacked to the wire. If the lens is scuffed, the cable likely won't work anymore
