@@glinteastwoodHi, yes, I've already done the adjustment, it's relatively simple, you just have to open the pedal and have some small tool to use it (imagine using a key on a doorknob). Here are two tips: first, mark the original position the knob (gain pot) is in before making any changes, you need it to bring the knob back to its original setting, and second, before closing the box try some gain variations first and when you find an interesting one you could already close the pedal.
Kind of an atypical setting of the tone knob on the RAT. Even though it sounds like the RAT gets fatter/burlier with the PDF-1X on, the same can kind of be achieved with the tone knob between 1 and 2 o'clock. However, I like to run my RAT into my EAE Model feT, which also beefens up the tone.
I had to use a setting like that to show the difference. Even with the tone between 1and 2, it still doesn’t sound as full as it does with the PDF-1 X.
I love mine…but people do need to realize the relationship of EQ and volume. If you mix you know already…but the higher you lift the frequency the louder it will sound. I find over 1 o’clock it will appear louder. So if you use height past that, gauge the volume back a little. I love mine, but it really shines when you put it in front a roaring amp..in my case a Sky King and Ampeg VT-40. Or a Rat or Muff. What’s so cool is turning it on, adjusting and keeping it on. I found when hitting my amp, muff or rat with the low mids ramped up with a medium to wide Q, it doesn’t even sound like a pedal is on. Just makes the amp sound bigger and more width. As well as help pedals cut. I really like it for sitting in the mix, or punching up an amp. Allows me to cut through on dark Muff, have a Fat rat and balance my space in a mix rather pre recorded stuff I’m working out, or in a 2 guitar band situation. Super useful, and about to sell a pedal or two it’s replaced. Only fault I have with these is the proprietary expression…it’s bulky and would love to just use my own.
Would have been great if they made it compatible with standard expression pedals; theirs is not cheap, not really special in any way, and not widely available.Just a needlessly crappy marketing scheme, considering that it adds great flexibility. It's pretty unique, and moreover, engaging to use.It makes you want to play.Great way to add a wah and an EQ in one shot, and a friggin' monster of cutting through mixes. All their stuff is cool for no BS Rock, etc.
Benjamin Lebofsky from my experience of currently having the 1 and got rid of version 2 because of the overall volume increase not just the Height frequency was way too dramatic- this has a master volume - and because of this it will replace my version 1.
From Luke at stonedeaf “It's a new circuit that incorporates the gain of the PDF-1 and PDF-2. It has a 3rd gain stage (volume) which everyone has been asking for, ltd etc. Main features is the 3rd gain stage so it operates as an overdrive when pushed into the front end of an amp and a then it also increases output of the second stage which is the actual distortion circuit. So In a nutshell a new gains stage and volume control”
I've seen people complain about volume differences between the two "channels", but if it's fixed with the PDF-1X, I'll be getting one, 'cause it sounds great.
Mentioning graphic EQ, can you make comparation in noize level with this gainst something like Boss GE-7 ? I found out, that graphic EQ adds some strange noize, when stacked with dirt pedals ...
Dan Kelsall I have been using the version 1 for years and just ordered this because of the master volume control. This is an EQ scalpel that can make humbuckers sound like single coils and vice versa, and do the cocked wah thing. I use this in conjunction with an EQD Tone Job. I use three different basic settings - not fiddly at all
A lot diff than a EQ; are you aware of what the buffer in the Boss does to most Drive and Fuzz circuits? Do a before/after, and see what you hear; it eliminates half the harmonic content.
10:36 shows how to open the pedal and adjust the internal gain pot to PDF 2 levels (ships set toPDF 1 levels). Thanks for explaining this feature!
Is there a video that explains how to do the adjustment?
@@cozzzmonautHi. Did you ever try to do that adjustment? Just got mine and wanna mess with it too.

What an amazing piece of kit. The difference is outstanding Andy. That filter, I could play it all day 😊
I’m really into it. It’s staying on my board

Id love to hear what it sounds like when you used the fuzz but CLEAN:)

Nice demo Andy!
🙏 thanks!
Mateeeeeeeeee soooooo good Andy! That's a need!!!
Totally. It’s one of those pedals I didnt know I absolutely needed until I tried it. Can’t stop playing with it
That Chapman guitar and Rat plus the PDF1X offffttttt 😋😋😋
I find it boosted and at the same time smoothed out the RAT's tone. Hmm I see it's all sold out, how much does it go for (just curious)? Nice 1
Hello, how is this different from the PDF-2? Thanks!

Hahahah. Well when you put it like that!
What about a Boss GE7? This thing looks fiddly and expensive.
Well the answer is to put it up against the GE7 and see which is better!

I would say the EQ is far more fiddly. Thanks, F. Now that’s a great idea with the EQD.

@@markferguson3745 I think I'll concentrate on playing ⏩
I feel like this could be my whole pedal board and I'd be OK, despite bending over to fiddle between songs.
I got that feeling too. I’m going to be doing more with this pedal for sure!
