THIS IS AMAZING! The best part is is how the commentators thought the Americans would win no problem. They even focus so much on the team, what about the other contenders?! There was no pick up on the awful change over during the race - watch the British commentary version and they pick up on it straight away.
2:49 to 3:01= EPIC!!! Mo was running so fast that you can't even see his swaggers, and Mark Lewis Francis was running the leg of his life because he knew that mo could've catched him if he didn't hold him on. Just epic!! Mo Greene= G.O.A.T
That was a fantastic anchor by Mo Greene!! His legs are like switch blades cutting the track like butter!!! He is the only American sprinter I respect the most, the rest are nothing but cheats.
What are you wishing to show by having us do that? It's clear that Mo Greene's foot is in front, but it's the chest that counts and Mark Lewis-Francis' chest is further forward.
I agree. Britain won fairly and did what they were supposed to do: get the baton around the track fastest with the cleanest passes possible. I think the Americans are pointing out WHY we lost. To all my American compatriots, the race is 4x100, not 4x102
I remember watching this live on the BBC one race that got me cheering! I thought he was gonna catch Lewis on the line but that made it a great race! It was Marlon Devonishes curve that was just awesome!
@Chocosizzles No you are wrong. Since the foot can be extended further forwards than the torso, the person with their torso over the line must therefore have taken more steps and got their whole body closer to the finish line. It is more difficult to get the torso over the line than any other body part. Otherwise, everyone would cross the line with their arms stretched forwards.
Quite a number over the years. Currently not too many in the Olympic team, but we've had plenty: Sally Gunnell, Roger Black, Paula Radcliffe, Iwan Thomas, Roger Bannister, Steve Cram, Sebastian Coe....
Proud to be Biritsh! I don't think we'll have the same success in 2012 in the running events but it's brilliant to see new athletes like Tom Daley coming through in events like Diving. America and China will dominate as per. But I can't wait for the Olympics to be in my city and down the road. It's going to be amazing
Any predictions for this year's Olympics? My heart says GB although I have to admit that, with Bolt and Powell, Jamaica will have to have catastrophic exchanges to lose the title.
Greene was flying ✈...that acceleration was Fye...... Baton exchanges always be the default of TeamUSA winning 🥇...buttttttt, We're getting better at it now.... Way2Go TeamUSA🇺🇲 Silver 🥈
For you information, it is done by the torso. Mark Lewis Francis' torso was clearly in front of Greene's. It doesn't matter if Mauric stuck his foot out, his torso was second to cross the line and so he and the USA were second.
If the circumstances were different then a different outcome may have been possible? Thanks for your input, all is welcome no matter how pointless it is.
@korea902 Yes, but it's the torso of the sprinter that has to cross the line to count as a finish, if you watch closely GBR do finish first, was a damn close race though :)
@kvocalist What are you talking about? They had the 100m Olympic champ and the 200m champ running the first two legs. It was bad handoffs that killed them.
Maurice Was a Beast in his Prime.. The way he almost caught back up to GB was Nice..I know for sure if they would of had smooth Handoffs no doubt tehy win
People, we shouldn't be arguing about which football is better. I'm a freelanc sports writer and I've interviwed both American football and international football players. Both are decicated, committed and hard working athletes. Very few can do what they can do. Enough said.
It's gonna be an INCREDIBLE race. Is it confirmed that Tyson Gay is running?? I think he's our best short sprinter, an exciting athlete. Hasn't he been sidelined with injuries? I've been outta the loop...
Actually he won because he crossed the line before Greene. Just accept the fact that it wasn't luck that enabled GB to win, they were the best team on the day.
I enjoy both games. each one has a degree of difficulty of both games. I have respect for American and international foorbal players. Both of them are tough and require top physical stregnth. An athlete is an athlete.
You're right about that one. My wife is Jamaican and she loves to talk trash about this. I'm really hoping my boys and girls will bring the gold back home. Look out Jamaica. USA, Tyson Gay especially, is coming back with a vengence.
Definitely true. Nigeria get a mention at 300, Britain finally get a mention at 350. Until then the commentator was focussing mainly on the US handovers as if the only thing that could prevent a US victory was them dropping the baton.
On the bright side (from the US perspective) we made the final. A couple of times screwed up baton exchanges in the semis (passing outside the zone, etc.) have gotten us eliminated. This was the case in the 2010 World Championships. I believe the same thing happened in the Beijing Olympics. In the Seoul Olympics we got DQed in the semis because one of our guys ran a few steps in the adjacent lane. What's the problem, poor coaching?
Mo Green what amazing run, regardless! i wish the vid was choppy, the camera view at :40 would be fantastic if it wasnt choppy, shows how fast theyre really goin
darkxiao - you're right. Some countries do test a lot more than others. In the UK you have to provide a location for where you'll be for 1 hour each day. If you're not there, nobody calls you and says "we'd like to do a test, you've got 1 hour to get here". That's in part what went wrong for Christine Ohourougu..... she turned up at the training track to find a school sports day happening so went to a nearby track. Then the testers turn up. That's a missed test then. Nobody calls you. TOUGH
The Americans blew it on the second exchange Coby Miller goes off too early has to stop himself and as a result loses all his momentum. Then at 2:23 you can see that after Miller's blunder Gaitlin compounds the error by stepping on Miller's foot which meant the later had to run the 3rd with a hole in his shoe
@puljacina Thats very true bro, I agree!!! The man never gaved up, specially when returning from injuries before the Athens olympics, and yet he still performed amazing :)
With Jamaicans Asafa Powell and Usain Bolt healthy and running, USA gotta come good. Jamaica has the two fastest men and fastest woman in the world. USA gotta bring it!
Chubble, thanks for clearing that up for me. I dont understand why it is done that way. If we are racing from point A to point B and a part of my body (no matter head, toe, chest or ass) touches the tape before the other racers? I won. SIlly rule, a race is a race. Big up Usain Bolt an Asafa Powell!! Mo Green, Tyson Gay n Carl Lewis best American sprinters ever!
loved that race even tho usa didnt win, these guys are just blazing fast, and i know mo greene was pissed he didnt catch him, but he should be proud of how much ground he caught up, tho again at the end of the day they wanted to win
It doesn't matter whose foot crosses the line first. It's the shoulders that count. That's why you always see sprinters dip their shoulders across the finish line.
We would've been happy with silver, I think this is the distinction that marks us out from you lot and the Australians. As a culture we find it just unfathomably undignified to put so much weight in the success of grown men playing children's sport.
actually, if you pause it at 3:11, you'll see that Green did cross the line before Francis but according to the rules, the lean gave Francis the win. i completely agree that it wasn't luck that GB won. they proved they were the best team on the track that day. i just wanted to point out that Green did a terrific job trying to catch up.
@djcheff Apart from Phillips Idowo, Jessica Ennis and all the new talent. Sure we may not win the sprints but we can still scrape a few track and field medals. We still own the cycling, rowing, and sailing. Hell we even came fourth on the medals table in bejing!
@Ethanace Spanish Armada: July 1588. American War of Independence:1775-1783. I make that just under 200 years between the two events, mate. I may have mis-interpretted your post, but you still can't call that 'just a few years earlier'.
@PickledHarrrington Actually, I think you'll find the British coverage to be much more even than the American. Watch the British version if you can find it; the commentary clearly mentions other teams throughout the race, not just Britain.
GB won rightfully and it was nice to have a break from USA, but you've got to admit, that was some spectacular acceleration by Mo Greene (i never liked that cocky bastard, but he was a joy to watch sometimes)... still, your comment cracked me up :D
It was just a difference of an inch.. Maurice Greene - what a class acceleration from him.. Really great.. Just loved watching the video..
The acceleration from Maurice Greene. DAMN
Ikr, He was FLYING ✈ 💨💨💨
Whoever did the commentary for BBC was very good.
Britain as won many medals in relays over the years but this and 1991 are the best.
Crawford got such a good start. This was the beginning of the USA having issues in baton exchanges at the Olympics
maurice's acceleration was amazing!!
I love this, one of my favourite sporting moments :)
Ironically, as a Brit, I was on holiday in Florida at the time watching this.
GB had superb handoffs
THIS IS AMAZING! The best part is is how the commentators thought the Americans would win no problem. They even focus so much on the team, what about the other contenders?! There was no pick up on the awful change over during the race - watch the British commentary version and they pick up on it straight away.

and Mark Lewis Francis was running the leg of his life because he knew that mo could've catched him if he didn't hold him on.
Just epic!! Mo Greene= G.O.A.T
WOW!! impressive performance by the Nigerians. I'm all aglow with pride. Our brothers are showing up. Love them Nigerian brothas.
That was a fantastic anchor by Mo Greene!! His legs are like switch blades cutting the track like butter!!! He is the only American sprinter I respect the most, the rest are nothing but cheats.
Greene was a beast ni his prime close shave 4 d brits
Hello, do you have the NBC version of the men's 200m semifinals at the London Olympics
Agreed with you on that. Crawford took that turn like a beast!
anybody notice the lady at the end trying to get the stick from great Britain lol 😂 she finally just ripped it out of his hands
I cant believe that nigeria did so well. You barely hear of their success. I am just proud of my country. Lets go Nigeria.
Prior to this the US team “didn’t need” the perfect baton exchange because they were so fast they would make up for it on the straight way.
I remember watching this live on the BBC one race that got me cheering! I thought he was gonna catch Lewis on the line but that made it a great race! It was Marlon Devonishes curve that was just awesome!
@Chocosizzles No you are wrong. Japan is 4th.But Japan got a bronze medal in this summer.
Any predictions for this year's Olympics? My heart says GB although I have to admit that, with Bolt and Powell, Jamaica will have to have catastrophic exchanges to lose the title.
@myblock It has to be your shoulders across the line, that's why sprints always dip their bodies forwards as the cross the line.
if u pause it at the end Mo Green foot crosses first b4 the other guy. does that count or does your head have ta cross first
I'm looking forward to seeing Powell and Bolt in the 4x100. I wonder if the WR could be broken?
Greene was flying ✈...that acceleration was Fye......
Baton exchanges always be the default of TeamUSA winning 🥇...buttttttt, We're getting better at it now....
Way2Go TeamUSA🇺🇲 Silver 🥈
dude that was like the best 4x100 ive ever seen holy shit that was good!
Wow this race looked fast! could you believe that Jamaica in Beijing went almost a second faster..37.10 Asafa would be like 5 meters ahead of them.
those passes by great brittian were perfect
@korea902 Yes, but it's the torso of the sprinter that has to cross the line to count as a finish, if you watch closely GBR do finish first, was a damn close race though :)
@kvocalist What are you talking about? They had the 100m Olympic champ and the 200m champ running the first two legs. It was bad handoffs that killed them.
yes he did indeed! what does the rule book say? is head the part that has to cross the line or what??
5seconds Maurice would have taken over that GB dude
But what tournament was this, when did it take place and where, can somebody please tell me?
Maurice Was a Beast in his Prime..
The way he almost caught back up to GB was Nice..I know for sure if they would of had smooth Handoffs no doubt tehy win
@Rasperdan ha, what classifies someone as a tool?
@Mikez4
It was in the correct hand. It is left, right, left right. Just bad handoffs.
dem guys can fly...love side view cam. so close for usa.
waw, maurice green....like running machine... so amazing
People, we shouldn't be arguing about which football is better. I'm a freelanc sports writer and I've interviwed both American football and international football players. Both are decicated, committed and hard working athletes. Very few can do what they can do. Enough said.
FOOTBALL 🤔🤔🤔🤔😁
Well done GBR!!!
@northerntrumpeter Top notch analysis, fine sir. Couldn't agree more, Steve Cram & Brendan Foster are the best commentators.
@pidgeblev Mind ur words. Iam perfectly alright. May I know for wht reason u have given this reply.
It's gonna be an INCREDIBLE race. Is it confirmed that Tyson Gay is running?? I think he's our best short sprinter, an exciting athlete. Hasn't he been sidelined with injuries? I've been outta the loop...
Actually he won because he crossed the line before Greene.

In Track and Field it is the torso that determines the winner. That is why they all lean at the line. It does not matter whose leg crosses first.
Definitely true. Nigeria get a mention at 300, Britain finally get a mention at 350. Until then the commentator was focussing mainly on the US handovers as if the only thing that could prevent a US victory was them dropping the baton.

Man I cant wait for the Olympics this year!!Go Tyson Gay, and Jeremy Wariner!!! I hope there is a close 4x100 again this year.
i love the beatles-hard days night in the background
GB rules!! I was so nervous to watch but hugh relief at end.....
did the guy in the end say they fasle started? so why arent they dq?
The Americans blew it on the second exchange Coby Miller goes off too early has to stop himself and as a result loses all his momentum. Then at 2:23 you can see that after Miller's blunder Gaitlin compounds the error by stepping on Miller's foot which meant the later had to run the 3rd with a hole in his shoe
Because if the USA had won then everyone would accuse us with doping, which ALWAYS happens when a US athlete wins a track and field event.
Us hesitated on the the first exchanges no green was legendary tho sheesh
was this sped up or are they super fast
i wish i could see the whole race like how the camera angle is at 39sec in the vid that was an amazing race! to be that fast geez
......... GUTTED LOL. I loved watching that again thanks
@puljacina Thats very true bro, I agree!!! The man never gaved up, specially when returning from injuries before the Athens olympics, and yet he still performed amazing :)
Relays, a lot of its come down to transition, sometimes having faster runners means higher chance of dropping the baton.
I love how the US broadcast is entirely focused on the US Team, its only in the final 100m they pan out a bit. Those Brits did us proud.
I couldn't believe it when we won this, what a great sporting moment for us. everyone was so sure yanks were going to win.
as a briton, this was the most surprising and best result I have ever seen on the track or field. GGGGGGWwwwwwwwwaaaaannnnnnn MLF
@puljacina nah it was much slower than that here, I got him at about 9.2 here, as opposed to an 8.9 split in his sydney anchor.
the angle of viewing from 2:50-3:02 looks awesome.
Does GB got any white runners?
With Jamaicans Asafa Powell and Usain Bolt healthy and running, USA gotta come good. Jamaica has the two fastest men and fastest woman in the world. USA gotta bring it!
was this nigeria country record ?
Chubble, thanks for clearing that up for me. I dont understand why it is done that way. If we are racing from point A to point B and a part of my body (no matter head, toe, chest or ass) touches the tape before the other racers? I won. SIlly rule, a race is a race. Big up Usain Bolt an Asafa Powell!! Mo Green, Tyson Gay n Carl Lewis best American sprinters ever!
britain still got hawked down. what have they done sinced then?
Mmmmm, i can smell the bitterness
Only beat the USA AGAIN in the 2017 world champs...
+Harry Morris only because we lost Tyson gay to run in that third leg because his daughters death, that's where the USA lost the race.
loved that race even tho usa didnt win, these guys are just blazing fast, and i know mo greene was pissed he didnt catch him, but he should be proud of how much ground he caught up, tho again at the end of the day they wanted to win
2.23 shows close up and absolutely impecable baton exchange from the British team. Ironic, since we've always traditionally had problems with that!
credit to Green all that gap he covered
The USA messed it up in that 2-3 exchange. Maurice Greene showed hes the fastest in that final leg, what a chase by him.
It doesn't matter whose foot crosses the line first. It's the shoulders that count. That's why you always see sprinters dip their shoulders across the finish line.
Remember NBC is an american broadcaster so naturally you'd expect some bias towards the United States, this occurs similarly with the BBC.
We would've been happy with silver, I think this is the distinction that marks us out from you lot and the Australians. As a culture we find it just unfathomably undignified to put so much weight in the success of grown men playing children's sport.

@PickledHarrrington Search '2004 Olympic 4x100m relay fnal men' to see the British commentary (deliberate mis-spelling)
@djcheff Apart from Phillips Idowo, Jessica Ennis and all the new talent. Sure we may not win the sprints but we can still scrape a few track and field medals. We still own the cycling, rowing, and sailing. Hell we even came fourth on the medals table in bejing!

in track and field the finish is never judged by the person foot its from waist up
Maurice was moving... Its always good to see Maurice running the 4th leg...
My dad and I were shouting at the TV when this happened. We saw the Americans make a slow change over and then Great Britain was in front.
exactly.
but as some people feel, its really not the individuals fault
does anybody know mo greene's split?? was probaby a 8.8 splt
hey guys, what's a normal good time for a 7-8th grade 4x100 team? My team has been getting 50-52 seconds
GB won rightfully and it was nice to have a break from USA, but you've got to admit, that was some spectacular acceleration by Mo Greene (i never liked that cocky bastard, but he was a joy to watch sometimes)... still, your comment cracked me up :D
This was equivalent to the 92 Dream Team losing. Crawford, Gatlin and Greene were all on this relay squad for the U.S.
I couldn't agree with you more BarnevelDarts. The Americans can't seem to run without drugs. Afraid of loosing.
