    This inspires me to try something new. I've always instinctively gone for the lines of the second one.

    The middle one (where the lines dont touch) would be great for a "flashback" too.
    I like that one most i think.

    The fifth line style reminds me of rough sketches. I use those to get an idea of character, but I tend to fade them out or erase them completely if I choose to use the sketch for a more complete image.

    i actually started drawing my own webtoon after working on my drawing skills and writing for 2 years,in drawing terms your videos really helped out,it has 2 chapters out,but aside from that,just came here to say your videos helped out,thanks for all of them.

      @LeoArmada 3 года назад

      @@mangolie21 I decided after making 6 big chapters that I should go back and remake ep 0 after I finish ep 7 8 9 and 10, atm I have finished ep 7 and 8,half way throw ep 9, so I want to at least give a good impression with ep 0 (which was a pile of shit btw) so I feel ashamed to promote it atm, but if j remember I'll make sure to come back and post the link.
      Edit thanks for being interested.

    Great stuff as always, Mark! I laughed when you indicated how teachers tend to feel about type 5 style design. I feel the insistence on "clean" work has affected a lot of budding artists negatively.
    As a type 5 style myself, it's satisfying to know I'm still doing things "right" as long as it looks good in the first place!

    When I draw I generally use two different methods for inking and pencilling. For pencilling, I use the quick scratchy lines, but for inking I use a dip pen and brush and alternate between slow and fast lines.

    I use a combination of the second third and fifth styles when I’m inking one drawing... I use fifth style for making a character with fur or scales like the ones a lizard has on their belly, the third to add details in the eyes, and the second as the overall outline...
    I’d send you a picture of my dragon character, Teddy, or a piece of fan art of his dad, as an example if I could post a picture in the comments (I created Teddy but not his father... if you want to see what Teddy’s dad looks like look up Red from Spyro : A Hero’s Tail... Teddy’s similar in silhouette but he doesn’t have the yellow in his eyes {it’s white} his horns are a light badge color instead of the dark primrose that his father has... Teddy doesn’t have an underbite and his neck isn’t as long ether, but he DOES have the fins on his elbows... they’re just a different color)

    I use different versions of line work to help depict the effect of whether something is in focus or not. My typical 'in focus' would be somewhere between 2 and 3, with 3 and 5 or even a modified 1 being either something too close, or far. For something *super* close, I actually use very think, solid lines, then the black colored pencil, and then a light grey marker.
