This has quickly become my #1 guitar channel. I can’t say enough about how great it is that you not only take the time to learn and explain the multiple guitar parts of each song, both rhythm and lead parts, but on top of that the great camera placement, video editing, and then adding the graphics and chapter markings. How you have the time to do all of that and still put out a new video so quickly is impressive. Having formerly watched and learned so much from the old Private Tricker/James James channels, (until he signed off for the last time), I think that you are easily his equal in how well you learn and explain a song, but surpass him in your editing and post production abilities. Thanks so much and keep them coming.
Reefer-Joe expresses exactly my thoughts and feelings (as well as all the RUclips fans/students of 12 foot chain), on your wonderfully detailed and accurate lessons. Really appreciate and admire your style of teaching......big respect and thanks, and please don't stop with all the great songs for us to learn & play
Another great lesson! When this song was released, and before I knew about such things like effects, I was stumped by this song. Sounded really complicated. Now I know the secrets. Thanks again!!
I can’t tell you how much fun I have had playing this the last few days. I have a $100 Mooer Hornet amp with a phaser setting and it sounds great. The rhythm part under the solo is great for practicing power chords. Thank you very much, throwing a tip in the jar
Thanks again mate for a great lesson. Hope all you other guys support this fella with a little donation as we want him to keep making these great videos.
Fantastic lesson! Far as I know, that was Ronnie on Bass and slide guitar (can hear it right after the solo). Always thought it was Ronnie playing the solo.... now you got me thinking it might be Keef! Well, at least this time we know it wasn't MT! Lol
Yeah, great job as usual! Keith is definitely in standard tuning and in fact, I think the whole some girls album it is in standard. EXCEPT -BEFORE THEY MAKE ME RUN. That progression in the guitar solo of SHATTERED is probably the most complicated thing on the entire album! It seems they were really trying to get some of the punk style on most of the songs..this was 1978 . BEAST OF BURDEN is the exception and MISS YOU- Disco. Jagger played a lot of rhythm guitar on songs and wrote a lot of them but NOT on SHATTERED . THANKS!
I don't know if they had the matching Music Mans yet, but I wonder if they traded licks. That would be cool. BTW, Ronnie got credit for bass, and "kick drum" on this too. Great tune, great album. Great job, you make learning fun!! 😃
First and foremost, I prefer playing rhythm especially when it looks easy, then again it is hard to learn. Something like the Stones. Some Girls come out while I was in grade-school. I love the Rolling Stones. The classics that never seem to bore !!!
I love the '80s live versions of this song, but Keith's riff on the record is awesome... Ronnie Wood's brilliant bridge is one of the greatest things ever recorded in music.
Thank you for the videos my guy, I’m huge stones fan and this really helps. Would you consider doing one on their song mixed emotions or a lesson on how to do the live version of honky tonk women’s solo. Thank you again your videos are great and very informative and super helpful to me
While we're on the Stones, I'd love it if you tnackled the right way to play their version of Bobby Womack's It's All Over Now. I've tried to unpack this for the better part of a year after listening to my band mates play an obviously wrong version. Thanks!
Nice looking strat :) the thing I love about 70s Stones is how they had no qualms with recording tons of guitar tracks and somehow mixing them all together. How many actual tracks of guitar do you think were in this song? 3? 4? 5? More?
Hi! I subscribed and got it. Just wondering, would you be able to tab the “not simplified” solo. From other covers it looks like they slide down from third fret to 12th? Instead of the A and D. Great video and lesson!
Really recommend The Phasor specifically 100 over 90 love the Some Girls sound with Phasor 100 all over it the best most commercial sound the Stones possibly ever achieved?!!!

Thank you very much for the note, much appreciated. I miss James James too. Tell your friends 😀.

@chrisshepherd9940 thanks so much!
I agree with you, 12 Foot is great, I love James and Privettricker but he retired after giving us tons of videos.
Agreed, also love that he explains the theory --going well beyond just teaching the shapes.
awesome - Woody kills it
Chapters! I wish every teacher had them! THANKS!
one of the best cleverest solos ever...
I'm not a guitar player, but I truly enjoy watching, as I've always had an ear and understanding of music and instruments in general.
Thank you. ❤️🎶
All time great song !!
Such a cool hypnotic song. 🎸 🎶
Great lesson as always 👍
Wow that’s awesome, it’s one of those songs that sound harder than it actually is. Thank you very much for posting

Love this tutorial! I watched them live in early 70s in Dallas. They crushed this number
Late seventies?
Love this. One of my favorite later 70’s tracks. Love the phaser!🎉

I was just trying to learn this one the other day so your timing is impeccable. Thanks very much for this in depth lesson. I really appreciate it!
Thanks!

Keith and Ronnie would approve. ✌️🎸🎸🎶🎼🎵
Great lesson. Thanks so much.
Great channel--many thanks from South Texas!
Thanks. Greetings from Franklin TN. Will be visiting family in Dallas in a few days.

Always good content. Thanks

Cheese burger cheese burger! Pepsi Pepsi! I remember them on SNL about that time of this song and they were in that diner.
fantastic thx ❤
Hi! I subscribed and got it. Just wondering, would you be able to tab the “not simplified” solo. From other covers it looks like they slide down from third fret to 12th? Instead of the A and D. Great video and lesson!
The solo on the récord is Keith
Really recommend The Phasor specifically 100 over 90 love the Some Girls sound with Phasor 100 all over it the best most commercial sound the Stones possibly ever achieved?!!!
Possibly topped it on earlier albums but The Stones have not topped The Some Girls sound since!!!
What effect are you using?
should all be detailed in the description section
Wow!!!
why did you not tab the whole solo?
Full solo is tabbed on patreon for members

How would Mick Taylor have approached the solo? uploads requested
Yeah man
Rats on the west side bed bugs up town,
😂 great tune👍🏻 Best -Regards have a Great 4th too
You too!
Keith played the lead on the record.
The solo, to me, sounds like a Mick Tylor solo. the solo is similar to Mick's Sympathy for the devil solo.
It is so sad how The Stones have never recaptured the vibe of the original track in live performances.
Don’t you know the crime rates going up up up up upppp?! To live in this town you must be tough tough tough tough tough tough tough!!!!
Sha-doobie
sha doo be
Keith Richards should see this. The way he plays Shattered live is so wrong.
Lol
Thanks!
Thank you very much!
Welcome and Ty! I work a lot so my time to play and work on new songs is a challenge. Your videos help me stay current and are thoughtful tutorials!
