I’m about to lose my worried mind trying to learn this. How the hell did Jimmy come up with all of this? Absolute genius. Every time I try to learn a Zeppelin song I’m left in awe of just how good Jimmy Page was during that time. His timing and phrasing is something I just can’t seem to get, no matter how hard I try.
Hey man I just want to let you know you have my favorite guitar channel on RUclips. Your method of teaching is perfect and every one of your zep lessons are so accurate. Keep up the good work, more zeppelin please!
Thank you for letting me know! Page is a favorite of mine, so I really love working on the Zep stuff. There will be much more over time - thanks for watching!
The genius of Jimmy Page. So good. Add Robert’s insanely powerful singing, and of course Bonham and Jones. Greatest band of all time. Thank you for doing this one.
Raw, emotive expression; that's Page. He makes us feel. Obvious that you've listened to this track ad-infinitum. Great lesson full of details & nuance.
Holy sht! Not two hr ago, out of the blue I decided to go back and learn a few bits and pieces of this track that I’ve either forgotten or never knew! Mostly the modulation/Arpeggios after the solo! I was just about to start searching and you popped up on my timeline! All strange since I haven’t thought of this awesome trek for years!
Never heard the Moby Grape version "Never" - I always wondered where Jimmy got this stuff- it's pretty clear he and Robert were listening to that before they did this- especially Roberts lyrics- super "ripped off" but I do love what Jimmy did with the transition chords and I really like that you pointed that out in the lesson- I've always wondered what was "going on" behind those chords song chord progression-wise- your insight was terrific! Always wanted to pull this out at a blues jam but was never able to describe to the bass player (always different people of course at a jam) that transition section- so now I can! Have to go over to your patreon lesson to really get it down now!
My Dad would refer to Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd as if they were a person. I never corrected him. 🙃 I think LS named the band after a teacher they had in High School
I have to ask, what is your Les Paul (year, etc)? Cardinal Red? The money for me is the missing pickup switch plate. Reminds me of an old Gold Top. It just has a cool vibe. Love it!
@@12footchain wow! I researched "red" Les Pauls and I was convinced it was cardinal red. I'll have to go check it out. It's one of those guitars that just struck me when I saw it. It's hard to see the wood grain through the red in the videos, that's probably what fooled me. Your videos are excellent. The research you put in is incredible.

I am so stoked that this was your pick!!!! #1 Zeppelin song for me, by my #1 rock band, LED ZEPPELIN!!!!
One of the most beautiful, affecting musical passages in the history of mankind. Well done!

Another awesome lesson of an all-time favorite. Thanks, Doug. Hope you have a happy New Year.
You too!

Just about to dive into this song and you posted it!

Brilliant. Love the way you're playing the transition part, sounds so sublime! All the best, from Ian, Derby UK🎸
The ultimate would be to learn the '73 live version.
Great vid on such a killer song! Stuff like this is why Jimmy Page is recognized as one of the greats by many of the greats!

Great lesson as always. Thanks so much!
Woah! I had no idea about Never by Moby Grape! As always, Led Zeppelin made it better.
One of my favourite Zep tracks... 🙏
As much as I've always loved this great song off the album L.Z. III, I still prefer their live version of this classic in 1973 at MSG!!!
My Dad would refer to Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd as if they were a person. I never corrected him. 🙃

The squeak from bonzo's high-hat on the masters is insane, once you notice it you'll never not hear it. Love this song though.

@@12footchain hello. Great video and lesson! Unrelated to that, what speaker is in your vox there? It’s the solid state one correct? Thanks

@ oh because I thought I had asked you about a solid state Cambridge you had used in a video awhile back. Am I confused on the amp?
Great amp. Cheers !

Don't normally hear the old happy John Denver G as a power chord - almost forgot, that Deluxe, wow
Wow
Great choice
Do you have a shop in Nashville? I love all the gear in the background. That amp is so nice. The one you are using.
no, i'm not a shop, that's my office/studio/room in the house
@12footchain you have a nice set up.
led zeppelin was at its roots a blues band.
